Or is watching. Just wanted to get peoples take on the hidden gems of the genre. What do you think is the best scifi show that never got the recognition and viewership it deserved? The one that should have been the start of a new multi generation franchise but wasn't.

My vote is for Out of the Unknown. Ran for five or six years on NBC (I think NBC). Was an anthology series. Each episode was one hour. The premise of many of the episodes was often shaky but the way they played out was usually thought provoking and well reasoned. Wouldn't mind seeing a new series with the same thought provoking storylines but that'll never happen. Can't be talking over your audience's head.

I personally have two votes. they weren't completely unwatched, but they could have DEF lasted longer. the first was Jake 2.0 on UPN. it was kinda a show for nerds, but even my sister liked it alot...they did have a show in J20 that transcended alot of demographic dividers. I think that the show suffered from a poor time slot (though getting the slot after Voyager helped them, wed. 8PM wasn't a good slot at the time; they were up against 'who wants to be a millionaire' if I'm not mistaken). I think that if they held off a year or two, they would have been much more successful.

The second was "The invisible Man" on the Sci-Fi channel. That was also a great show that my sis and I agreed on. what made it so great was the fact that the show was a bit hypocritial - and the writers knew it, and milked it for all it was worth. I was personally a fan of the fact that the building was a really shoddy office space prob'ly built in the 60's or 70's, but a step into claire's lab and it's got all the hi-tech stuff that you see in all CSI-type labs. the characters poked fun at each other left and right, and the storylines were fairly original, especially for the Sci-fi channel. wish this one lasted alot longer than it did...

I have a lot, but I doubt anyone will agree with me.

    Point Pleasant
    Miracles
    Tru Calling
    So Weird
    Roar
Cleopatra 2525 (It was retarded...but corny and mindless fun)
    All Souls
    Millennium
    Harsh Realm
    Freakylinks
    Wonderfalls
    Threshold
    Prey
    Haunted
    Veritas: The Quest
Carnivale (almost everyone who's seen it loved it, but I guess 2 million ppl isn't enough for HBO )

You've got a good list here, though some I hadn't heard of.
Point Pleasant - zoom! it takes longer to drink a cup of coffee than this series had
So Weird - sounds familiar but can't place it
Roar - scifi? how? Maybe i fell asleep on it, but it just seemed to be one of those period drama shows
Cleopatra 2525 (It was retarded...but corny and mindless fun)Yes!
All Souls - had some creepy otherworldly apparitions
Millennium - cut off too soon, but I did remember wondering which direction they were going to take it.
Harsh Realm - ahead of its time
Wonderfalls - gone quicker than Pt. Pleasant
Threshold - CBS execs are fools. Anyone shopping a scifi show to them should be escorted out of the building and given a list of networks where their show might stand a chance.
Prey - would have loved to see where this might have gone
Veritas: The Quest - here and gone in the blink of an eye
Carnivale (almost everyone who's seen it loved it, but I guess 2 million ppl isn't enough for HBO ). HBO isn't bringing it back on rotation? *disgusted look*

Adding Kingdom Hospital & American Gothic to the list.

I really liked The Invisable Man, too. At least they ended it it with something not so hokey.

Firefly, but most of the blame goes to FOX for not putting the episodes in order.

Jake 2.0 It was the younger generations version of "The Million Dollar Man", even he made an appearance on the show.

Seven Days, I'm a sucker for time travel shows, they still could've pumped out 2 more seasons.

Roar has fantasy stuff in it. There are wizards, prophecies, banshees, and other weird things happening...it just wasn't too often like Hercules or Xena.

Firefly - I think some people were wierded out by the scifi-western theme. This in my mind is the best Scifi show nobody watched.

These are ok shows nobody watched:
Carnivale - It's still going on where I live, but I think I'm the only one watchin it...
Tru Calling - I started watching only because of Eliza Dushku, but it actually was a good show.
The Invisible Man - I don't think people ever knew this existed...
Kindred: The Embraced - I bet there's something like 10 people who have seen this.

Definitely a few on my list:

Threshold - I got completely sucked in, and now have to wonder what could have happened.

Firefly - absolutely this one, even my other half, who almost never watches tv loves this one.

The Outer Limits - by the very nature of the show it was almost impossible to run out of ideas. Granted it had its bad episodes, but there are some that still give me the wiggins just thinking about them. "The Quality of Mercy" season one, and "Tempests" season three are just two I can mention.

Babylon 5 - I knew maybe two other people who watched this, and I just can't understand why. It was the best series I have ever seen, and nothing has matched it since.

Yeah, I'd vote for The Prisoner. I'd also like to nominate The Invaders. It had a very big influence on The X-Files.
