This five part serial is based on the novel of the same name by Douglas Hurd and Andrew Osmond. Secret moves are being made to bring about full independence for Scotland. An armed uprising by an extremist nationalist group is part of a deep-laid plot to force the United Kingdom Government into agreeing an independence package.

Phase Five

Aired: Friday June 8, 1973

Hart has been murdered in France. The Liberation Army has taken over part of the West of Scotland and Lord Thorganby has been abducted. Brodie blows up Clovulin Bridge to prevent MacNair escaping.
