Turk finds out that Carla is pregnant before she does, so J.D. convinces Turk to tell the entire hospital staff to surprise her with the news. However, Carla wants to personally share her baby news with everybody instead, thus Turk and J.D. need to try and contain the hospital gossip.

  • When Dr. Cox tries to tell the German patient about his condition, unknowingly talking about the man's wife's breasts, the man responds "Was hast du gerade gesagt?" ("What did you just say?"). It is very obvious that the actor is no native speaker for two reasons: first, because he speaks with a noticeable accent, and second, because a native speaker would know that the formal form of address towards a person one isn't close with is not "du", but "Sie". Both translate to "you" in English. edit »
  • In the scene where Carla takes her pregnancy test and Turk cooks the pizza rolls, why is it that it takes one minute to cook and then to cool down so why is it that after the three minutes for the pregnancy test, the pizza rolls are still hot? edit »
  • When J.D. mentions some of the Janitor's previous lies he talks about the wife who only has "Pointer and Thumb-Pinkie". The Janitor told J.D. this in episode 21 of season 2 "My Drama Queen". edit »
  • Featured Music:
"Running One" by Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil
"All Of The Words" by Kutless edit »
  • In the Janitor's (most likely fictional) story, he was born in 1965. In the flashback of his running days, he says he is 19 and the race banner says it's 1984. edit »
  • This episode was intended to air after 'My Chopped Liver', which continues with J.D. having shaved his head and doesn't mention anything about the pregnancy. It was bumped up the schedule and the news of the pregnancy was advertised to attract viewers to the following debut of NBC's Teachers. edit »
  • Elliot: I'd like to remember all the carpal bones in the hand with a simple mnemonic device: Scaphoid, Lunate, Triquetral, Pisiform, Trapezium, Trapezoid, Capitate and Hamate. Some Lovers Try Positions That They Can't Handle.
    Keith: Hey?!?!
Elliot: It was not directed at you, Doctor. edit »
  • Dr. Cox: Hey Carla! You're glowing!
    Carla: (Smiling) Really?!
Dr. Kelso: Nurse Espinosa, have your breasts gotten bigger?
Carla: Wow, Dr. Kelso! That's innapropriate!
Turk: Baby, that sounds like a compliment to me. Maybe you're just a little hormonal... edit »
  • Elliot: Dr. Cox, I got a patient with osteomyelitis who needs a bone biopsy. Who do you use?
Dr. Cox: You put me in an awkward spot because I'm here and I want to help but speaking to you would acknowledge your existence and you don't exist. So, I'm going to address the stapler. Hi, stapler, the red is killer. By the way, there's a certain Dr. Brownsfield who's just the most wonderful bone guy... What? What's that, stapler? Oh no, she... she's an actual doctor.
Elliot: Neither of you are very funny! edit »
  • Dr. Cox: (Talking to Elliotīs interns about her relationship with Keith) I wanna hear from the audience, I do. Dating in the work place: She's the boss, he's the pretty intern.
Tell me whatīs buggin' you! Courage!
Gloria: Hmm.. Sometimes they arrive in the morning and they smell like sex. edit »
  • J.D.: My friend, we have just lo-jacked the janitor….Hel-LO! edit »
  • The flashback where Janitor wins running hurdles is alluding to the movie Chariots of Fire, which is about running athletes competing in the 1924 Olympics.
The movie features slow motion scenes set to a soundtrack by Vangelis and the music playing in the slow motion scene is made to sound like the Vangelis title track. edit »
  • Gilmore Girls:
Turk spends his Thursday nights off watching "Gilmore Girls" on TV and discussing it with J.D. afterwards.

"Gilmore Girls" is a TV show that currently (as of 2007) airs on the CW. It is about the life experiences of a single mother and her daughter. edit »
  • Office Space:
The red stapler that Dr. Cox speaks to in order to avoid directly addressing Elliot is a reference to Office Space, a movie in which John C. McGinley also appears. In the movie, a character named Milton keeps a similar-looking stapler at his desk because he likes it better than the ones that the company recently upgraded to. edit »
  • Run Lola Run:
The music when Janitor is running towards J.D., is music from the movie Run Lola Run, where Lola runs throughout Berlin. edit »
