J.D. and Elliot are still not fine after their break-up and often run into each other at the hospital. J.D. doesn't find much comfort at the hospital as Dr. Cox and the Janitor make fun of him instead.
J.D. gets a call at home, his high school teacher died. He tells Dr. Cox at the hospital but he doesn't really care about it and is more angry that there are patients being rejected due to their wrong insurance. When the lab tech isn't around for the test results, Perry finally snaps and destroys some equipment to cool off.
Elliot and Turk are on a research project together to study peripheral vascular disease. Elliot is a lot more excited than Turk, who hasn't had much fun lately. J.D. comes home but sees Elliot so he goes straight to bed. At the hospital, Carla pages Dr. Kelso about coma patient Mr. Rice's last wishes before they pull the plug. One of the wishes is to hear Poison's 'Talk Dirty to Me' once a day. Dr. Kelso doesn't like the idea as it is easy to get out of control if they allow it this time. Carla asks Ted to find a family member of Mr. Rice to authorize the will. J.D. arrives and tells Carla and Laverne how Dr. Cox went ballistic yesterday. They look at each other as he does this every year and it isn't surprising.
At home, J.D. brushes his teeth in his pyjamas and Dr. Cox bangs on the door. He takes him out in his pyjamas. Elliot wants to get the study done quickly but Turk wants to leave for a date with Carla. Elliot decides to continue so she gets it over and done with. Carla has to cancel the date as she needs to find a CD for Mr. Rice. Turk returns to Elliot but Todd has made her notice she is a geek so she leaves. Dr. Kelso turns off the music and takes the patient away from Carla.
Dr. Cox and J.D. hang out on the bar. He seems emotional and they chat up a couple of women. Carla warned J.D. not to be around Dr. Cox's wake. Everybody mentions this happens once in a while. Dr. Cox arrives at the hospital all happy and smiling, exactly the opposite of what J.D. was thinking would happen. He asks him what is going but Perry says he should get out of his face. J.D. should have found a better way to let his emotions out, especially when his high school teacher died.
Ted found a family member of Mr. Rice. He seems more interested in what kind of assets were left behind so Dr. Kelso tells him there is no money and takes him away. Carla and Ted go into Mr. Rice's room and sing to him instead.
Turk and Elliot continue on their project. but Turk sidetracks as he rented 'Red Dawn'. While they watch, J.D. comes home but goes straight into his room again. As it turns out, Turk chose Elliot as a research partner so that she and J.D. can try to get over their break-up better.
At the hospital. Elliot finds J.D. who is going over his high school teacher's recommendation. He releases his emotions by throwing stuff off from the roof along with Elliot, Carla and Turk. He felt much better afterwards. The janitor needs to clean up the whole mess in the parking lot afterwards.
