Carla has a bizarre dream, but rather than being petrified at its contents, she's more worried that it was in English, and not in Spanish. She then tries to make sure Izzie learns about her Latin heritage, by speaking to her in Latin. Turk confronts Carla about this, and realizes that Carla is afraid that she's losing her heritage, and her roots. At the same time, it's revealed Turk doesn't know about his own cultural background.

Turk finds Carla again, and he assures her that though she may be stressed and may be putting her heritage aside, she clearly hasn't lost her cultural identity.

Dr. Cox bets Jordan that while she's away, she will call him first and tell him that she misses him. However, when she calls and says she'll be delayed by another week, Cox gets upset and lonely that his child and Jordan aren't with him, and he misses them. He fears that he's losing his identity as he used to be someone who incurred the wraths of others, and didn't need anyone. Elliot assures Cox that he's still that person, except now he has a family that cares about him.

J.D. calls everyone by their nicknames, and accuses the Janitor of not being people-friendly. But when the Janitor reveals that J.D. doesn't even know the real names of the people he works with, J.D. bets him that he can find out the true identity of everyone. However, in the end, J.D. states the names of everyone, except the Janitor himself, and is forced to be a Janitor for a day.
