    ***WARNING! THIS THREAD CONTAINS SPOILERS***

I'm not sure if this has been a thread before. But with that new DVD cover I just wanted to know everyone's thoughts.

When do you think Scrubs Jumped the Shark? Or has it ever Jumped the Shark?

If you don't know what it means to "Jump the Shark" go HERE

I think it jumped the shark the minute that tried to pretend Kim was in the show from season one. They did it tastefully yes but it was a shark jump non the less. Shark jump 2 would be all the baby crap. But if you read up on JumpTheShark.com they say Scrubs has yet to jump.

It is all opinion. You go to all these sites about Jumping the Shark, and you see shows like Simpsons, South Park, Friends, Married with Children, Full House, Home Improvement, Seinfeld, Cheers, Fraiser, etc and you see 10,000 different opinions of when or if that show ever jumped or not. And, though some of them you are sure it jumped (Cheers, Fraiser, Seinfeld, Friends etc) you understand the people who claim it never did (excpet the Simpsons, if you don't think they jumped the shark 20 times by now, you are in denial). And I see the many varying opinions on Scrubs at sites, and I think they all have pieces of truth to them. Yeah, you can say it has not jumped yet, but you can understand people saying it jumped at My Fault, or Big Bird, or Bright Idea or Urologist/Transition, or alot of 6 and 7.

For my money, I don't think it ever officially jumped, but the closest to me would have to be Perspective/Therapeutic Month/Night to Remember/Fishbowl, it is like the Shark porn episode of Friends. The stupidity is just unreal, and even with suspense of disbelief, you just can't get past it. From Turk breaking his arm on the fan, to JD's DWI while on a Scooter, to Kelso's military leader being reincarnated as a fish and talking to the Janitor, it is just too much.

You liked The One with the Sharks?

I don't know if you are talking about Friends or Scurbs for your question, but it does not matter, since they both have the exact same answer.

Season 5 for both was quite good, both ending on a huge cliffhanger, and both containing some of the best episodes of the respective series, and both had the 100th episode, which were both incredible. And both had an episode widely regarded to best the best episode in the series (My Lunch and The One Where Everybody Finds out respectively).

Season 6 for both, was a relatively weak season when compared to other seasons, in both shows, it was obvious that alot of the time the writers and actors were just mailing it in, they do both however have some glimmers of greatness,(The One Where Ross got High, My Musical, My Cold Shower) and both of them had fantastic season finales (The One with the Proposal, and My Rabbit/My Point of No Return) with final scenes that absolutely floor you.

I don't think it did, but some people are of the opinion, that the smart ostridges was just too over the top, what with the kicking though the window, sentry duty, and waiting in the car. Personally, I think it is Brilliant.

Season 6 was extremely weak in my opinion as well, especially the first half. But it did pull itself up in the last half. Season 7 was better in my opinion so I don't think Scrubs has quite made its fantastic jump yet...I keep harping about it but when it jumps it'll probably because those dang interns.

Or the wedding in the Bahamas, which makes sense, alot of people said Friends jumped at The One in Barbados, with the double proposal and Rachel Joey kiss, maybe the Carribean is just where shows go when it is time to jump the shark.

LOL! I was going to get on to you for not telling everyone that's kinda a spoiler! But you do have to pass a few sharks to get to the Carribean.

And a friends of mine found the whole Kim thing funny so I guess I was alone on that one.

I don't know why you guys are hating on the wedding episode? Who's to say it's not fantastic/hilarious? And Michael, it's supposed to be a big episode for JD and Elliot, so what the hell? I would think you'd have this one marked on your calendar.

Look, I am not saying I am not happy about the JElliot part of the episode, it should have happened 3 years ago after Her Story II, and just skipped the whole Kim arc, but I don't like the fact they are taking a trip to the Bahamas. Yeah, I honestly think it will be a very good episode, it just makes no sense that they all go down there.

It hasnt jumped the shark per se, but there's definitely a noticeable difference in quality from season 4 to season 7. Season five is still the best, but I'm really missing the feel of the older seasons. Season 7 wasnt good at all.

    How about:

    1) The island paid for it.

    2) It's a nice break for them, since they've been shooting in a decrepit old hospital for the past 7 years.

    3) IT'S THE BAHAMAS!!

Well that's all well and good, but they could have just vacationed there instead of film there. I thought Scrubs was awesome because it WASN'T like other sitcoms. Now, we find out that they are going to do the cliche sitcom location thing? Just...horrible. It better be well done.

Bill Lawrence wanted to do it because his TV mentor told him that it's impossible to do a good location episode, and he personally took up the challenge to prove him wrong.

Even if it's not the best episode Scrubs has ever done, and even if does/doesn't pull it off, Bill still has some giant balls when it comes to creativity and I respect that very much.

Yeah I respect Bill and all. And if he pulls this one off great, but if he screws it up... well JUMP THE SHARK he will be (maybe)! It's a risky move but I think he can pull it off.

I wish I were that confident in his ability. I mean, Bill is an awesome guy. But his friend is right, it's damn near impossible to pull off a location shoot. I hope he can do it, but I'm not holding my breath.

From Turk breaking his arm on the fan, to JD's DWI while on a Scooter, to Kelso's military leader being reincarnated as a fish and talking to the Janitor, it is just too much.

i kind of liked the shark porn episode...
But to be relevant, I havent watched all the episodes yet (just finished season 5) but so far, i think its going good. Is Season 6 good?

I was referring to Scrubs...i watched Friends till season 10. Pretty good till the final season

I hate season 9 myself. 10 was bad, but not 9 bad, mainly because of The Last One though, 9 having the worst finale, and 10 having one of the 3 best tips it in 10 favor IMO. As for what Julie said, well, if that is the case, then I say go for it. I love when people do things just to pretty much show everyone else they can. And while it is true that most location shoots are horrible, there are a few that have been incredible, My favorite (and many other's as well) Friends episode was shot on location. So it can be done, it is just difficult to do, but I have complete confidence in Bill, if that was why he did it.
