In the opening scene Sergeant Grey and a group of police officers is seen arresting a man named Matthew Reilly because he is suspected of holding Drugs but after discovering that they are tomato plants, he is arrested for not having a drivers license.

Continuing to get cooking tips from Diver, Laura asks him how to make a cake but after pointing out that he knows nothing about cakes and cannot help she gives up.

Matthew Reilly faces trial in Pearl Bay, where everyone loves him and thinks that he is a credit to the town. When Angus tells Laura that he is a good bloke and doesn't deserve to be arrested he convinces her to take a look at his farm for wayward kids before passing judgement on him. After she does, she fines Matthew $200.

When Laura starts asking questions about Reilly and his background, Angus gets nervous and goes to Dan and asks him for help. The conversation between them makes it clear that Matthew has something to hide. Dan tries to get Laura off Reilly's back but when he gives Laura a different version to Matt's background the Angus did Laura starts to get suspicious.

Jack, Laura's husband has come to Pearl Bay for Rupert's birthday, breaking bail, but after finding out about his affair with Trudy, Miranda is not happy to see him. Kevin, while fixing the Gibson's stove informs Jack about Diver Dan and that he is a close friend of Laura's, thinking that Jack Gibson is a travelling salesman named Jack Hill.
Miranda confronts Jack about his affair which causes Jack to fight with Laura about telling Miranda what happened between them.

Having found conflicting evidence about the identity of the supposed Matthew Reilly; Sergeant Grey tracks down the real Matthew Reilly.
After the fight with Laura, Jack leaves a present for Rupert and goes back home, leaving Rupert without a Pool tournament partner.

Sergeant Grey shows up at the fake Matthew Reilly's house and arrests him for fraud. Everyone thinks it was Laura who dobbed him in, and seeing as the whole town loved the fake Matt and were giving him an alibi, they were angry with Laura and gave her the cold shoulder.

Diver goes and visits John Gauer in Jail and he informs Dan that Laura had nothing to do with him being arrested and that it was all Grey.
On Ruperts birthday he opens his dads present which is a new pool cue that he uses when he enters the tournament with his mum. After Diver was told that it wasn't Laura who got John arrested he is nice to her and gets the whole town on her side again.

At the pool tournament the town gets together and gives Jack an alibi when Seageant Grey shows up. The Gibsons win the tournament, with a little help from Diver when he cheats but seeing as they won, all the losers had to run down the main street in their underwear, including Diver, even though he didn't enter the competition.

The episode ends with Kevin and Trevor on the beach talking about the tournament.
