I passed on this show when it was on the air; it always seemed like a wannabe Star Trek. I'm watching it now on Netflix, and I'm trying to keep an open mind, but I'm about 2/3 through the first episode, and I'm already annoyed by one thing:

WHY DO THEY KEEP CALLING THEIR SUBMARINE A BOAT? A boat goes ON TOP of the water. Not under. Not to mention the fact that boats are small, (unless they're in-land, where technically, any sized craft qualifies as a boat). It seems like they're using the word on purpose instead of calling it a ship or sub. Is there a reason for this that I'm missing? I'm giving this thing the rest of the pilot and maybe one or two more episodes, but so far, not feeling to bad that I skipped it the first time around.

I don't quite understand myself, but a sub is always a boat NEVER a ship. Don't ask me why, but that's how it has always been.

I'm doing the same thing with Netflix and in one of the earlier episodes they even clarified it with the line "A boat is something that can be carried on a ship, therefore this is a ship"

Yet the still call it a boat...it would have been better if they referred to it as a DSV or something.

Oh and season 2 completely sucks and if you actually watch season 3, it was aired out of order and watch "Brainlock" BEFORE "Spindrift"
