An extraordinarily well made drama series about some of the bravest people in history. Can you imagine risking the terrifying consequences of being caught by the Gestapo for helping allied airmen get back to England? hide « show »

This series was without doubt one of the best dramas about resistance workers in German occupied Europe. It held me on the edge of my seat whenever I watched it. It dealt with a serious subject and captured many complex aspects and conflicting emotions. Lifeline was there for the airmen but they always had to protect themselves even to the extent of killing them if they presented any kind of threat to the line. The main character Albert Foiret (Bernard Hepton) was a deep and complex one. Other characters were very vivid and memorable, especially Clifford Rose as Kessler.
I can't praise it highly enough.
I was deeply dissapointed a few years later when the BBC sent it up with that childish idiotic comedy known as allo allo. What an insult!!
