Episode Summary

George becomes Steinbrenner's pet, when he shares an eggplant calzone with him. Kramer is raving about wearing clothes "straight out of the dryer." Jerry thinks that Elaine's boyfriend is dating her without really ever asking her out. He offers to bring Jerry some Cuban cigars from Canada. Jerry takes advantage of his girlfriend's ability to get anything she wants. Kramer searches for quarters for the dryer; when he can't find anymore, he starts using an oven. George gets into tip trouble with the counter guy at the calzone shop and he works out an arrangement with Newman. That is unless of course it's raining (Newman doesn't deliver mail in the rain); Kramer helps out.

    The Calzone hide show

Another instant classic here from the Seinfeld camp as Larry David came come close to ending his tenure on the show.

Seinfeld became the best shown on television not just for its great characters and general hilarity, but for the way it started off with three or four distinct storylines and then by the end managed to tie them all together. This is perhaps the most clever as we saw how both Kramer and Newman screwed George when all was said and done.

So many funny moments here, but perhaps the best lines of the line go to the executive producer Larry David as George Steinbrenner.

One of the best of all-time. hide show

The Calzone has always been a personal favorite of mine. I love the story of George and Steinbrenner and how George got Steinbrenner hooked on the calzone. I love the incidents that happened between George and Kramer and the calzone guy. I also love the side plot of Kramer and his obsession with wearing clothes right out of the dryer. I really love these type of episodes that include Steinbrenner in them. Larry David does a wonderful job portraying Steinbrenner's voice and some of the dialogue written for him is absolutely hilarious. I also love how George is so desperate to find someone to get him calzones that he actually turns to Newman.

    Great! hide show

This episode is really cool, I like it so much because it actually shows George doing something important in his job when he gives his boss the calzone and he gets totally hypnotized and he does all what George wants, but George has another tip problem with the calzone maker, when he doesn't see him putting his tip he tries to grab it back, but then he is kick out and that makes his only help to be gone. Well the thing is that this episode, is really good and is one of the funniest episodes that I have ever watched, I don't understand why does it has 7.0 of ratings, but still is a really cool episode.

  • Strange that Jerry would consider a box of Cuban cigars an appropriate wedding present for George. In Season Four, when given a box of Cubans by Susan's father, George likes them so little, he gives them to Kramer. []
  • Kramer says that he doesn't have a table but back in "The Good Samaritan", he says he falls and hits his head on the coffee table in his apartment. []
  • We see Elaine smoking a cigar near the end of the episode. Yet throughout the series she consistently maintains that she HATES smoking. []
More Trivia
  • At the beginning of the episode George presents his idea for having the doors to bathroom stalls go down all the way to the floor, which he first suggested to Susan in "The Postponement". []
  • George: (about George Steinbrenner) He fires people like it's a bodily function. []
  • Newman: Let me be perfectly blunt. I don't care for you, Costanza. You hang out on the west side of the building with Seinfeld all day laughing it up, wasting your lives. []
  • Jerry: You've got your shirt in my oven?
Kramer: Well, I didn't have enough quarters for the dryer, but this is better anyway. And it's more convenient.
Jerry: Oh, for both of us.
Kramer: Yeah, and I have a lot more control. I got a shirt going for ten minutes at 325.
Jerry: What's wrong with your oven?
    Kramer: I'm baking a pie. []
