TRIVIA

  • Just before the pilot airs, Kramer enters Jerry's apartment singing and dancing, and then says that he was successful in fixing his bowel problem. However, as we learn in Part 1, the pilot aired a week after the filming, and Kramer took his "big e" treatment the same night as the filming. As such, it doesn't make much sense that Kramer would be so excited a week later, and presumably Jerry, George, and Elaine would have found out sooner to when it actually happened. edit »
  • At the end of the episode it's revealed that all of the waitresses are the daughters of the new owner. However, it is never answered why Elaine was turned down for the job she applied for. One of the waitresses told her specifically that they were looking for another girl, but the owner wasn't interested in hiring Elaine, and that part is never explained.

NOTE: When Elaine applies for the job, it is her plan to be rejected. She is dressed as unattractively as possible and not being very personable. The owner looks her over and then rejects her. We are probably meant to believe that it was because she wasn't bosomy, but we learn the real reason in the end. edit »
  • In the original broadcast, the scene immediately before the pilot begins filming, in which TV George frantically tells Jerry he can't remember any of his lines, is longer. He begs Jerry to help him and to give him his first line, which Jerry tells him is, "New sneakers?" This part of the scene is cut from syndication. edit »
  • During the airing of the pilot they show the Drake and the Drakette watching on a little tv (clever because they had the big screen picked up). In an earlier episode (the handicapped spot). The Drake and Allison(the drakette)broke up. Did they get back together? edit »
  • In the episode "The Bubble Boy" the father says the boy is in the bubble with the remote. But in this episode the remote is outside the bubble and he fights over it with his parents.

Note: Susan broke the bubble when the Bubble Boy was choking George so anything could have been taken in or out of the new bubble. edit »

QUOTES

  • Calvin Klein: (about Jerry) I like his style. He has a sort of casual elegance.
Tia: But he picks his nose. edit »
  • George: Listen, I know we've had our problems in the past, but we've got a show to do tonight. Pull together as a team. Life's too short. I say let's let bygones be bygones. If you took the raisins, if you didn't take the raisins. They weren't even my raisins. I was just curious because it seems like a strange thing to do, to walk into a room, audition, and walk out with a box of raisins. Anyway, whatever. If you ever want to tell me about it, the door to my office is always open. In the event that I get an office. You'll come in, we'll talk about the raisins, have a nice laugh.
TV Kramer: How'd you like it if I just pulled your heart out of your chest right now and shoved it down your throat? edit »
  • Jerry: Did you ever notice a lot of butlers are named Jeeves? I think when you name a baby Jeeves; you've pretty much mapped out his future. Not much chance he's gonna be a hitman. "Terribly sorry, sir, but I'm going to have to whack you." edit »

NOTES

  • This two-part episode was nominated for the 1993 Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Editing for a Series - Multi-Camera Production. edit »
  • The Greenpeace member at the end who promises the ex-President of NBC that he would remember Elaine's name is played by Larry David, producer and co-creator of the show. The other man with him is Larry Charles one of the shows writers. edit »
  • In watching the second part "Pilot" episode, the Russell
character fires a stage hand who spills coffee on him
(after Russell is rejected by Elaine over the phone). The actor playing the stage hand looks very much like Chris Penn (Sean Penn's brother). Is it, and should he be added to the cast list? edit »
  • Originally broadcast as part of a 60 min episode. The major characters from the past season that make comments on the pilot were not credited for this episode; however, we know who most of them were, so I've included their credit for this episode. edit »

ALLUSIONS

  • Jerry: Did you ever notice a lot of butlers are named Jeeves? I think when you name a baby Jeeves, you've pretty much mapped out his future. Not much chance he's gonna be a hitman. "Terribly sorry, sir, but I'm going to have to whack you."
Jeeves is the character created by the genius of writer P.G. Wodehouse. Jeeves is the archetypal butler who is always ready to find a solution to solve any problem his master may encounter. edit »
