Trivia

In July 2008, it was announced that Shannen would be reprising her role as Brenda Walsh on the highly anticipated Beverly Hills, 90210 spinoff. Jennie Garth (Kelly Taylor), with whom Shannen feuded with in the past, has also signed on for the project. (edit)
On the set of Beverly Hills, 90210, when Shannen used to come in late and make up lame excuses, her co-star Ian Ziering finally lost it and called her a c***, and then, after a few seconds of dead silence, said, "Can't Understand Normal Thinking." Tori Spelling, who also starred on the show, said this was a really shocking moment, because Ziering was a typically sweet guy who never said a bad thing about anyone. (edit)
Part of Tori Spelling's autobiographical memoir, which was released in early 2008, discussed Shannen's bad behavior on the set of 90210. Spelling talked about how Shannen "took her under her wing" and introduced her to her partying ways, but despite Shannen's bad girl ways, Spelling liked her and was friends with her. However, as Shannen's behavior worsened, Spelling "didn't want to betray her," but she finally agreed to support the decision to have Shannen fired from the show. "When she left, I felt the same as everyone else, like I could breathe again," Spelling wrote. (edit)
Despite constant rumors of on set rivalries during her time on Beverly Hills, 90210, she was close to both Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green, who defended her behavior to the press numerous times. (edit)
As a child, she worked on the hit television series Little House on the Prairie for its final two seasons, portraying Laura and Almanzo's niece Jenny. Susan McCray, who took part in the show's casting, has said that Shannen is right up there with Melissa Gilbert (who played Laura Ingalls Wilder on the series) as one of the most natural and talented child actors she has ever seen. (edit)

Shannen: (about her former "bad girl" reputation) Yeah, yeah, I'm the evil witch. I get it. But you know, things were never as bad as people seemed to think they were. (edit)
Shannen: I definitely lived my life like I wasn't in the public eye. (edit)
Shannen: When I was 27, my mom said, "Honey, don't pretend this stuff isn't hurting you. If you go through your whole life being so self-protective, you're going to feel sad a lot." Something about what she said woke me up. I realized that I would rather have people know me as the shy, awkward person I am than the tough bitch. I got rid of a lot of people in my life. And after lots of therapy, and lots of patience and love from my family, I started to allow myself to open up. (edit)
Shannen: (on her reputation for bad behavior) At the time, my grandparents told my mom, "Lordy, what is Shannen doing?". Now I've calmed down. (edit)
Shannen: Everybody deserves a second chance in this world. That's basically all I ask. (edit)
