Dick Whittington, a country lad, goes to London to seek his fortune.When kindly Mr. Fitzwarren, a mercer, hires him. Dick uses his earnings to buy a cat.Mistreated by the apprentice Gooley, Dick starts to run away. But he returns when the bells of St. Mary-le-Bow predict he will be thrice Lord Mayor of London.*Note: The legend began around Richard Whittington, an actual Lord Mayor of London five centuries ago. Rhubarb the cat alsoplayed the title role in a baseball movie called "Rhubarb".Two songs featured are: "The Streets Are Paved With Gold" and "If Pennies Were Wishes".
