The apartment was upstairs from Jack's restaurant, Jack's Bistro. Vicky's father, James Bradford (Robert Mandan), decides to buy the restaurant and continually has surprise visits them disturbing Jack and Vicky when they are trying to get a life together.

"Three's a Crowd", at the end of it's first (and last season), was #38, a great fall considering "Three's Company" was the top sitcom from 1978-1982. ABC didn't know if they should cancel it, but in the end, "Three's a Crowd" left the air when ABC bought the former NBC show, "Diff'rent Strokes."

Theme Lyrics:

Swimmin' against the tide,
Makin' it,
Side by side!

Oh love is fun,
Now two makes one,
We can laugh and cry,
Cause love's a crazy ride,
When we're side by side.
