    • Difference from Film: In the movie Bianca doesn't know that Kat is not a virgin.

    • Difference from Film: In the movie, Cameron is the new guy in school. In the series, Kat and Bianca are the new kids in Padua High. Kat's real name in the film is Katarina. In the series, it's Katherine.

    • The plate number of Kat's light yellow Volvo is 2QCE265. The plate number of Chastity's blue Mini Cooper is 4PCI485. Both cars have California plates on them.

      Foot binding is a common practice among traditional Chinese women. Wearing a burka, an outer garment covering one's entire body, is a tradition and a requirement among Muslim women.

      Harry Potter, the title character in J.K. Rowling's popular book series and the subsequent film series adaptation, is the wand-bearing teen wizard who attends the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

    • Chastity: (To Mandella) Move it, Elphaba.

      Elphaba was the name given to the Wicked Witch of the West in Wicked, the novel by Gregory Maguire and the Broadway musical based off of it.

    • Cameron: We're not exactly Clooney or Pitt.

      He is referring to actors Brad Pitt and George Clooney, who have both been named People's Sexiest Man of the Year twice.

      Long Duk Dong is the strange Asian foreign exchange student from the 1984 comedy Sixteen Candles.

    • Kat: All right, Hannibal Lecter...

      Hannibal Lecter refers to the cannibalistic doctor from several novels by Thomas Harris and its film adaptations, most notably 1991's The Silence of the Lambs. He is potrayed by Anthony Hopkins.

    • Kat: (to Bianca) No way, Miss Daisy.

      She is referring to the title character of the play (and subsequent movie), Driving Miss Daisy, about the relationship between an elder Jewish woman and her African-American chaffeur.

    • Kat: (about Chastity) She's a teenage Kim Jong-il!

      Kim Jong-il is the dictator of North Korea.

    • Kat: I was going two miles per hour, not exactly The Fast and The Furious.

      The Fast and the Furious is a 2001 street-racing movie with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. It has spawned three sequels.

      Shia Labeouf is the actor best known for his role in the Transformers movies.

    • Kat: Beguile. Big word for you, Shakespeare.

      She is referring to William Shakespeare, the English playwright. The original 10 Things I Hate About You was based on one of his plays, The Taming of the Shrew.

    • Kat: We're going to high school, not the Academy Awards.

      The Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, is an award ceremony held yearly to celebrate excellence in the film industry.
