Wow! At first I didn't think this was a real show, then was sure I had switched the channel on accident. But no, it's a real show! with one funny line in 22 minutes (chimney-sweeps). It felt like a script written in the early 90's that was passed over for Friends and the actors, while beautiful, were way to over-the-top. And not "this is the pilot, we're trying to establish theparadigm" over-the-top, just bad, with the exception (in most cases) of the lead.

Also, POORLY written. "Yankee **** could not think of something better? A seemingly endless stream of badclichédjokes and general predictable scenarios. Two dimensional characters like the gay black man, beauty that's "surprisingly"down to earth, uptight closed off woman, goofy and somewhateffeminate spazz, the sex-crazed blonde, and the ladies man who may be smarter and more caring than he first appears.

Canned Laughs?! Really?!?! I mean I understand this show obviously wasn't given much in the way of funding, what with the unknown actors, less than great writers, and general lack of a lead-in or pre-premier hype,so not being able to afford a large studio makes sense, but canned laughs?! Those should stay in the 90's where they died. The audience doesn't need a cue to laugh when the jokes are good. Live is one thing, because each time is different and doesn't take away from, but adds to the show. Pre-programmed laughs only serve to further remove the audience from the story. And they take away from what could have been passable laughs.

In all, the whole damned thing seemed like a 30min sitcom that even FOX would turn down (remember, those are the guys that let Till Death fester for two years), let alone produce a pilot. Does NBC hate Parks&Rec? Is it, in their eyes, on par with this?! That company, what with all their mistakes the past year, is gettingridiculous. Or is this just an attempt to regain some money that was lost when an idiot green lit this pile of crap and wasted hundreds of thousands (okay, hundreds) of dollars shooting a couple episodes.

Or have I lost it and this is what passes for good television?

OP or Moderator, please change subject to:Episode Discussion: "What brought you here?" s1x01 (05/27/10).

It was OK. It's better than some of the freshmen sitcoms that got renewed for next year. I expect to keep watching it. Although, I thought it wasn't bad, I don't really expect it to last too long.

I'm sorry about the subject, I'm new and didn't realize the protocol.

Anyway, don't get me wrong, it was watchable. That kind of formula is appealing. I'm not saying it will or won't fail, but if it is going to take off they need to make serious changes. It is like a show that is only partially developed. It never should have gotten the go ahead in it's current condition. It needs more refining. Also, even for summer fare, it really doesn't fit in its time slot. Ever since Seinfeld, it seems like NBC execs think "well, there was a show that nobody liked and we put it on after one of our TH night hits, and it took off. therefore, we can put anything on the bottom of the prime hours and it will do the same."

I think this short-sells the show outright because it will never find the right audience. I think it would do better on Weds or tues. NBC's Thursday night shows are edgier and this very formulaic sitcom doesn't flow well. On a different night it may give the characters/actors time to evolve while building a small audience. but a change in writing staff is by far a must. Hope all that made sense.
Again, sorry for the breach of forum protocol.

This is a perfectly enjoyable version of This Show, which is the "young single girl looking for love and all of her misadventures along the way." A couple years ago there was something where a woman was calling everyone she'd ever dated because a psychic said she'd already met her soulmate, and then of course there was that unwatchable "Miss Match" thing and Alyssa Milano's horrifying "Romantically Challenged." This at least was put out by the creators of "Pysch," which means it might be almost clever as well, although I agree about the intrusive laughtrack. Yuck.

I think the whole show is a joke. Its meant to be really over the top in the ways you describe. I think it'll either be canceled after one season or cruise on down as a summer/winter staple that really finds its way until they run out of good episode titles (questions for the questionnaire) and then crashes and burns after tripping and rolling down the hill for a bad final season.

I'm probably going to keep watching for a while at least.

ok I may be wrong, but it seems like the concept of the show is that everyone asks random questions...idk...lol

Ditto on everything. I accidentally caught the first 15 minutes of an episode and could have sworn I was watching a rerun of a short-lived 90's show. The only thing the constant laugh track did was drive me crazy and accentuate how unfunny every single joke is.

After having seen 10 minutes of the pilot, I can safely say that this is a HIMYM formula type thing... It's all there... 5 friends (only they inverted so it's 3 girls 2 guys), the laugh track, the magic show, the sort of a re-telling vibe, the lead in desperate search for love...

I'm not feeling it I have to say... I'll give it a go, but I don't see it getting on my must-watch list (or even watch list). With many of the shows, not just sitcoms, I'm currently in love with (some of whom aretragically deceased RIP BOT ), I had feelings for the characters from the word GO. Here... nothing...

I love this show, it's hilarious. Better than HIMYM, that's getting really old. This show has something, can't put my finger on it, that sets it apart and makes it extremely funny.
