  • Without a doubt, these are two of the best episodes of 101 Dalmatians. Two extremely strong episodes in one small package! What more can you ask for.

"You Slipped a Disk": The main pups must retrieve Roger's disk from Scorch before he shows it to Cruella so they can keep Roger out of trouble.

I must admit, I don't have much to say about this episode. There was a lot of cool action and funny stuff in here, but too much to name. All three of the main pups are in character in this episode, and I totally don't mind Spot's absense at all. The chase sequence that is poking fun at the Scooby Doo cartoons was not too surprising. It's been done in various other cartoons as well. Probably the most memorable moment of this episode is Cadpig giving her speech to Rolly saying that they should go help Lucky face Cruella, and then Rolly suggests they just leave, which they do. Definately one of the best lines in the whole series. Rolly and Cadpig are pretty much done for the episode after that, but they do make a brief cameo towards the end. Cruella shows her characteristics as well making changes to Roger's game, and it also shows that she's a computer expert having the ability to do that.

Overall, the episode was very entertaining to watch, so it's reccomended by me.

"Chow About That": Lucky, Cadpig and Rolly miss lunch and try to find a way to break into the chow tower.

This is an outrageous episode, and it is one of the most entertaining episodes of the whole series. The pups racing to the farm was very entertaining all the way through. Cadpig's mental meal I've got totally memorized; it's one of the best things I've heard her say. The various attempts the pups made to get into the chow tower were a little different. Who's idea was it to launch Rolly into the chow tower by using Cadpig as the weight to launch him? I mean, come on, Cadpig weighs like nothing, and Rolly is extremely heavy, plus he was in a bucket and wearing metal stuff. The vaccum cleaner is even weirder. Where did the pups plug that thing into? And how did they get a cord that long? I don't know where they got those springs from, but it was fun to see them bounce around on them. The peanut baloon they got from the tractor they found on the way back, but what made them think it would get them anywhere?

Oh well, the three pups are still outside the chow tower. All is quiet around the silo, but the pups' stomachs grumble loudly. Will they ever get the kibble they want? Spot had the very answer, but the pups chose to ignore it until they crashed into the sewer pipe.

In my opinion, "Chow About That?" was the better of the two episodes, but both that and "You Slipped a Disk" were very strong making this one of the most classic episodes of the series.

"You know, when I get hungry, I have a mental meal."

-Works for me! "Chow About That?"moreless
  • Simple, yet very strong.

These two episodes were some of the best ones to air in the series.

"You Slipped a Disk" involved Scorch, Cruella's ferret, stealing a floppy disc for a game about Cruella that Roger made. Lucky, Cadpig, and Rolly have to try and get it back before Cruella sees it. This episode had a lot of puppy action from the trio, and stands as one of the series' bests.

"Chow About That" involved the main trio of puppies missing lunch, so they try and break into the chow tower to get their food, with Spot trying to tell them that Nanny left some food for them. The different ways the pups tried to break into the tower were hilarious. I also loved Princess the cow asking Duchess the cow if she's "been drinking her own milk again" (alcohol reference). That line was really funny.

Actually, on February 18, 2011, this episode aired on the Disney Channel at 4:00 AM, meaning that the pups have returned! Let's hope Disney does the same with Doug, Recess, Pepper Ann, and their other shows!

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Cadpig's strength seems to vary throughout the series. After the main pups come out of the lake, they each one by one climb onto a pond weed and jump off it causing the trio to land on top of each other. Cadpig ends up on the bottom with Lucky on top of her and Rolly on top of him. Cadpig managed to support both her brothers in this scene without consequence. Not only should this not be possible, but it also contradicts past episodes: In the episode, "Home is Where the Bark Is", one of the totem poles the main pups formed had Cadpig on the bottom, and she was defectively struggling over the weight she was carrying in that scene. Also, in "You Slipped a Disk", after Rolly gets freed from the fence, he lands on Cadpig crushing her, and she was critically injured.

    • When Lucky and Cadpig were going to save Rolly from the rushing stream, Lucky hung himself from the limb of a tree, but then Cadpig hopped off the limb and quickly wrapped her tail around the limb and grabbed Lucky's ankles. It shouldn't be possible for the dalmatians to do that. They're not monkees.

  • QUOTES (13)

    • Cadpig: That's where we come in, Rolly. We've got to counter all our counterproductive gut-stripping fears, and do what any best friend would do - go in there, and face Cruella with him!
Rolly: ...or, we could just leave.
Cadpig: Sure. We can do that.

    • (The pups are digging their way into the silo.)
Spot: Wait! I have to tell you two things! Number 1, Nanny left some extra kibble for you guys back at the shed!
Lucky, Cadpig, Rolly: What's number 2?
Spot: Look out for the sewer pipe!

    • Spot: Relax, guys. Just look back...
      Lucky: Only quitters look back!

    • Lucky: Don't worry. This is totally safe. Safe as safety-scissors-safe.
Spot: Lucky, I think I really must tell you that...
Lucky: Spot, you're going to have to stay back! This is totally dangerous! Very, very dangerous!

    • Lucky: We may have missed lunch hour, but lunch will be ours! I have a plan that will have us chowing down in no time! We'll be swimming in kibble once we...
Spot: Lucky? If I could just interject here for a second...
Lucky: Spot, don't interrupt my moment. [continuing his speech]
Once we... break into the chow tower!
      Cadpig: Great moment, Lucky.

    • Rolly: Don't miss lunch because of me! Save yourselves!
      Cadpig: Thanks, Rolly!
Lucky: We can't just leave and let him starve!
Cadpig: We can do anything if we try.

    • Cadpig (after Lucky knocks her off a bird bath): Watch it, bird brain!

    • Lucky: Let's do it for Roger!
Cadpig: Let's do it for Roger!
Rolly: Let's do it before dinner!

    • Cadpig: Jump aboard, or eat my dust!

    • Cadpig: (while having a mental meal): Right now, I'm having a heaping stack of blueberry pancakes with honey butter and warm maple syrup with a side of sausage links and home fries and orange juice and wheat toast buttered on one side only please. Thank you!
      (Rolly faints in hunger)
Cadpig: Looks like he's having a "psychic sugar rush."

    • Duchess: That looks like fun!
Princess: Have you been drinking your own milk again?

    • Cadpig: Lucky, next time, try clobbering the bad guy!
      Lucky: Sorry, Rolly.

    • Rolly: This is scary.
      Lucky: I know, no T.V.!

  • NOTES (4)

    • Both of these episodes have a built-in laugh track that occurs whenever the characters say a joke.

    • Cruella's Memo: Put more windows in Rupert's house.

    • This was the very first episode of "101 Dalmatians" to ever air on television. The first season aired on ABC as part of Disney's One Saturday Morning, and the second season aired in syndication as part of The Disney Afternoon. The show's airing in syndication was never announced; most people just found it out on their own. In the Fall of 1998, the second season aired on ABC, and the syndicated programming of "101 Dalmatians" was cancelled, along with The Disney Afternoon.

    • Spot is nowhere to be seen in "You Slipped a Disk".
