This episode title and theme of the episode is parallel to the tv movie title, The Choice (1981) about a couple (Michael and Lisa) who live together are certain that once they'll marry they will eventually have children together. Unfortunately just before they want to move to another town where Michael could get a good job, Lisa discovers that she's pregnant. So she has to decide if she'll tell it Michael or have an abortion secretly. If she tells him, she's sure, he'll want to keep the child but later regret it because it ruined their future. Lisa asks her mother for help; surprisingly she learns that her mother once had to make the same decision.
