    I can total agree that this is totally a guilty pleasure of mine that I have to watch when I flick past the stations.

    Granted its a terrible show, that has no substance or purpose. The only purpose is a bunch of kids that want to be on MTV and be the next Juno or whatever. But maybe just maybe, there's a slight, tiny little chance that at least one kid in the world is going to get something out of this. Mainly its not a good idea to be sixteen and knocked up. But alas I can't help myself wanting to watch and laugh every time one of them cries. My personal favorite being Farrah who cries when her mom woun't buy her the car she wants. Too funny!!!

    I'm sorry, but the way I remember it, Music television (MTV) needs MUSIC not REALITY! I don't want to be mean to anyone, but who wants to waste an hour of their life watching teenage mothers and fathers fail at raising!? Who I ask you, who? Another thing is most of the time if their not raising the kid, their arguing over (wait for it...) the kid. To put perfectly straight and frank, this show is not just a waste of time, or MTV bad, but just bad! If nothing else is on but this is, do yourself a favor and go outside or something like that. 0/10 F-moreless

  • Mtv rides the Juno bandwagon, which will no doubt result in even more teen pregnancies, lowering of the national IQ; thus creating more viewers for shows like this.

    When I was a teenager, the big movie was Fast times @ Ridgemont High, though the film has many stories, one of the prime ones is that a girl gets pregnant and gets an abortion, the teen sperm donor bails, so her brother and her bond when he catches her coming out of the clinic. The abortion wasn't even agonized over, it was merely, simple matter of fact, this is what you do when you're a dumb kid who Fs up and gets pregnant. I lived in mostly white-bread suburbia, and the story was more than common. Now we've got things like the morning after pill, and RU486, making surgery unnecessary, but what message is film and TV giving to todays teens, look 16 year olds are moms all over. It's cool, trendy even.

    They may think that they're showing the trials and tribulations of the life of teen moms, but truth is most rebellious teens will see these kids, gaining independence, forcing their parents help and attention, plus the cognitive dissonance which leads most that I've seen to say, that they wouldn't give up their baby for anything.

    Add to this the fifty to five hundred teens out there right now thinking if I can get pregnant soon, I can be one of the girls next season.moreless

    Ok, I'm 17 so I didn't grow up with the original Music Television but I had music videos in the morning, TRL, and respectable award shows on MTV. Even with it slowly moving into reality shows starting with their hit The Real World and then branching out to Laguna Beach, the channel maintained it's dignity. Slowly we got LC to grow up/move to the Hills and drunker messes on the Real World. With MTV's recent logo change where they accept the fact they no longer play almost any music comes more and more TV shows nobody asked for. 16 & Pregnant is one of those shows I refuse to watch unless I am home sick from school or there is legitimately nothing else on TV. I would also like to hope this show has brought the issue of teen pregnancy to a level of awareness that shows like The Secret Life of the American Teenager hasn't achieved (even with their stupid PSAs at the end of every episode). This show has highlighted not only the miracle that is childbirth and the happiness it can bring a mother but also highlights the fact that having a child at such a young age puts your life on hold. It follows these girls through their difficult times with boys, family, friends, school, and everything else. I would like to think this show has maybe persuaded some girls that having a child isn't as glamourous as they think, but with another season coming soon I fear I might be wrong.moreless
