In the main game, there's a "BIG 7" featured on 1 of the 2 main games. The contestant got $500 bonus for getting all 7 things right. Also, if the team scores a perfect 21, the contestant wins $1000 on January 19-23, 1976. ($1500 if the Big 7's involved).
The 1st try at the Pyramid bonus round (The Winner's Circle) is worth $10,000, The 2nd try is worth $15,000 & the 3rd and subsequent tries is worth $20,000! Otherwise, The Cash Blocks are worth from $50 to $200 to give out the Champion's winnings.
Contestants stayed on until they were defeated or won $10,000, $15,000 or $20,000. The record that a contestant stayed on was 17 games.
By the weekday of January 16-20, 1978, THE $20,000 PYRAMID ratings were beginning to slump as ABC stations preempted for Local News at 12:00 Noon and-or put on the morning hours. Finally on June 27, 1980, THE $20,000 PYRAMID is Canceled on abc-TV.
