20Q

Show Summary

20Q is a game show that aired on the Game Show Network in 2009. The game springs from the popularity of the handheld electronic toy called 20Q, which stands for "twenty questions." In the electronic version, the little round device asks the player to think of an everyday object, and then it asks a series of simple yes or no questions to figure out what that object is. The television show, however, changes the game play a bit. The "computer" is called Mr. Q, and its sarcastic voice is provided by comedian Hal Sparks. The host of the show is British actress Cat Deeley. She and the giant 20Q machine share the stage while presenting the game in three parts. In the main game, three contestants from the studio audience play head-to-head. Mr. Q selects a category, and the players ask the questions. In the next round, the two semi-finalists compete. They are each given the same clues, and the player who guesses the subject using the fewest clues goes on to the final round. The champion then competes directly against Mr. Q. It's a classic human versus machine battle for a chance to win $20,000.
