Penultimate. Meaning "next to last." And any good penultimate episode of a "24" season must gear the audience up for the finale. It should have viewers on the edges of their seats, biting their nails, staring holes at their TV screens without blinking. And it must also deliver in the actual finale, but that's another story. Plus, I suppose a huge shocker at the end would be a nice bonus. The Drazens tell Jack to go to Palmer's hotel so he can unfreeze their assets, if you know what I mean. Long story short, Palmer fakes his death. Now that Patty's been fired and that stupid storyline is out of the way, this plot development introduces the final conflict between Palmer and Sherry.Meanwhile, Teri the basket case cries a fountain at CTU, irritating the hell out of both Mason and the viewers. But she and Nina get some time to bond, and she later tells Jack she's pregnant.Kim escapes via coffee.I'm sure this episode had a lot of people doing what I described in the first paragraph, but not me. It's a great, well-made episode and all, but it's a little hard to impress me without a… Wait, why is Nina on the phone with the Drazens?Hourly Highlight:*continues wondering* ………HOLY SHINGLED ROOF, BATMAN!moreless

  • The OTHER mole!

    9.5
    "Superb"
This is a top top episode.

The moment when Jack saves Palmer's life, yet again, is brilliant. I loved how he faked his death and I loved Sherry's reaction to it and what Jack said back to her.

And I love love love the scene just before Jack makes his way to the Drazens when he finally learns that Teri is pregnant. He bursts out crying and its probably the shows most genuine moment so far.

The scene where Kim escaped from the Drazens was also very good but I'm wondering whats going to happen now considering Jacks on his way to them? He's not going to go if shes not there, and they can't end the season without killing the Drazens.

Nina being the mole was THE shock of the season by a mile. But I'll never understand why she cared so much about Teri and Kim throughout the season, and Jack too. Obviously she put on an act to gain Jack's trust ahead of all the others at CTU. Jack is going to be so...mad...at her. I can't wait to see what happens when he finds out about her being the mole.

I really liked Nina too. She seemed like a genuinely nice person. But now it all makes sense looking back at the third episode when Nina was apparently the mole. She obviously covered herself well, and because of her being suspected so early on, Nina being the mole didn't come into my head for even a split second.

Quote of the hour! Sherry Palmer: "You've got to be kidding!" Jack Bauer: "I've never been more serious in my life."moreless

absolutely brilliant episode, the ending, I was amazed at. I was staring at the screen for ages afterwards. The twist at the end has to be the best twist to ever grace the tv screens. The only problem is that it was so unexpected that i now don't trust any more characters. I have watched all seven seasons and even after all these years, Chloe could be a mole that is really evil and it would not surprise me as much as this twist did. I was so taken in by the character that it left me speechless. Wow at the best twist ever, incrediblemoreless

  • The End Begins!!!!

    9.0
    "Superb"
This is the type of the episode that deserve a 9, and not some boring, filler or transitional episode, as happen sometimes.

Palmer knew what his wifes was trying to do, this was nice and a surprise. His conversation with Sherry was well done too.

Kim conversation with Drazon Son was interesting. Her trying to escape was even better.

Palmer really likes Jack and he risk his candidature for Jack family safe. The DRazens had a fanstatic plan to kill Palmer and Jack one more time, saves the Day.

Poor Jack, one daughter in danger and Teri says to him that she is pregnant, and he thinks that he have to sacrifice to save his daughter, simple excellent.

The ending, well, simple the best shoking moment that 24 will ever be able to create.moreless

This is the prefect example of what the episode in 24 should be - it had it all. We had the tension and those intrigues in Palmer's part, what his wife was trying to do and he saw it. Then there is CTU and Tony thinking he has the second mole and tries to stop it. And then there is Jack, running around trying to save his daughter life and almost getting Palmer killed.

Anyway, that is really the moment where everything takes fast motion - Jack's very emotional call to Teri, things on CTU... and Kim taking her run and ofcourse the ending. I was somehow sure that not all is right with her but the way it was done - so powerfully and so surprisingly.. It was just magnificent.

    It was great episode.moreless

    • In the beginning of the episode, Andre Drazen claims that 20 million of his assets were frozen. However, when Jack is in the hotel room with Palmer and explaining the situation to him before he answers the phone, he claims that 200 million in Drazen's assets were frozen according to Drazen, rather than 20 million. Edit
    • When Jack arrives at Palmer's room, he passes the lady that he met at the breakfast (think back 13 episodes) who was a friend from school. Surely one of them would of noticed each other. Edit
    • In the 'previously on 24' segment, Victor is talking to Andre about doing nothing until they know Bauer is dead, they are hugging. However, in the previous, the lines are said slightly differently and they are standing apart Edit
