    • When Nina's deception was finally discovered, the facility went into lockdown. Why then, was the elevator still operational and the garage open to allow Jack to drive in?
    • Goof: There is a huge goof when Jack is attempting to get proof of Nina's deception. According to the tech that Jack calls, the video surveillance of the room where Jamey had been killed had been erased by Nina, but she didn't know about the digital backup which is the proof Jack showed to Mason. The problem is that when Jamey was discovered as a traitor spying for Gaines (7:00am-8:00am), Tony and Nina put her in that room specifically because it didn't have any surveillance as they didn't want Gaines to see that they had Jamey in custody.
    • Goof: (Continuity) Kim throws hot coffee on the face of a Drazen's assassin. 10 or 15 minutes later the same guy appears again shooting Jack Bauer with no signs of burn on his face.
    • As Jack is firing at the Drazens on the pier, the visored head of a man (no doubt the show's ballistics advisor) is visible just over his shoulder. It's probably far more noticeable on the DVD release than it was during broadcast, but this guy is REALLY visible!

    • Mason: Tony, get this: Tack Team finally gets there; Jack didn't wait-went in without them. Tony: By himself?! Mason: Evidently. Tony: Is he alright? Mason: He's alive!
    • Novick: I don't think the situation will require much spin, as long do what you've been doing all along. Palmer: Tell me again what I've been doing, Mike? Novick: Telling the truth.
    • Nina: (About Jack) You'll have to kill him, no mistakes. If he finds out I lied to him, my cover will be blown. Drazen: Of course we will kill him, that is the point.
    • Andre: What if Bauer doesn't come? He may be too crushed by the thought of his daughter's death. Drazen: That is exactly why he will come. Believe me, I know.
    • Sherry: David. David, you just don't walk away from me! David, you can't do this without me!
    • Palmer: After tonight I don't wanna see you again. I've heard it all before. And I don't care what this may do to my candidacy. And it's not because I don't wanna be president. I do. I just don't think you're fit to be the first lady.
    • Victor: You tell him that his daughter is dead. Her body was found floating in the harbor. Nina: You're going to have to kill him. No mistakes. If he finds out I've lied to him, my cover will be blown. Victor: Of course we will kill him! That is the point!
    • Palmer: Jack Bauer saved my life today. Not once, but twice. Sherry: Yes, I realize that. And I am sympathetic to what he's going through. Palmer: I don't think you are. Sherry: David, I am. Listen to me. Palmer: No. I am going to respect his request, and so are you. You will not sacrifice his daughter.
    • Sherry: Well, that's crazy! It's... Mike, tell him how crazy it is. He listens to you. Novick: Don't put me in the middle of it. Sherry: Isn't that your job to be in the middle? For crying out loud, Mike!
    • Mason: (referring to Kim) Yeah, Jack, she's here, and she's fine. You know, if you'd call once in a while, we might be able to tell you these things.
    • Jack: (referring to her kidnapped daughter) Put her on the phone. Andre: Come to the parking lot of the freight office. I'll come out with her. Jack: Let me speak to her first. Andre: There's been enough talking. Jack: With everything that's happened today you expect me to trust you? Andre: We know you lied to us about Palmer being dead so don't talk to me about trust alright? Just get down here now or I'll kill her myself! Trust that!
    • George: Jack, like usual, I don't know whether to congratulate you or demand your resignation.
    • Newscaster: People close to the CIA say that Special Agent Jack Bauer of the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit is the man responsible for saving Palmer.
    • Jack: I trusted you! Nina: I was just doing my job. Jack: Your job!?!?! My wife and daughter almost died today!!! How many people that trusted you lost their lives today because you were doing your job!?!? Walsh? Jamey? Ellis? How many others? Nina: How many people died because of you Jack?
    • Nina: I'm leaving now Teri. Someone will find you soon.
  • Notes

    ADD NOTES
    • In Season 1, the hour of 12:00 A.M. is referred to as "Midnight" in the opening blocks. In every season since, it has been referred to as "12:00 A.M."
    • Ranked #3 best episode of 2002 by The Futon Critic.
    • This episode marks the first time that a silent clock is used to close the episode. The silent clock would become infamous over the years as concluding a highly dramatic moment, usually the death or grave injury of a prominent character.
    • During the summer of 2002, many fans were so shocked by the fate of Teri Bauer that they worked up every explanation they could to keep her alive, even going so far as to claim that the stain on her shirt was not blood. It wasn't until her fate was actually stated in season 2 that some fans gave up the denials.
    • When Nina is downloading files to her disc as she prepares to make a run for it, a ton of images flash on the computer screen. These images include photos of the crew (one even wears a 24 hat) and, most interesting, a picture of Kiefer Sutherland kissing a stuffed animal.
    • This is the last episode to feature Leslie Hope and Sarah Clarke as series regulars.
    • In the German dubbed version Nina/Yelena and her contact speak Spanish. Nina claims to have worked for the CTU in Madrid.
    • This episode was named the third best TV episode of 2002 by The Futon Critic, placing behind The Sopranos Whoever Did This and The Wire Sentencing respectively.
    • The BBC broadcast was over a minute longer, featuring six segments that didn't appear in the FOX/FX broadcasts (and were presumably cut for time constraints). The most notable additional scene is one between Nina and Teri, where Teri tells Nina that she and Jack are going to have a baby and Nina tells Teri that she plans to ask for a transfer out of CTU.
    • This episode received an Emmy nomination for editing (Bill Gocke, Michael Olman, Ken Kobett).
    • Three different endings were shot, two of them decoys, in an attempt to discourage leaks. Alternate ending #1: Yelena shoots Teri, but Teri survives. Alternate ending #2: Yelena doesn't shoot Teri. Alternate ending #2 appears on the DVD releases
