You know what this episode is about, Bomb up CTU and of course, the usual prediction is to doubt that this will eventually happen, however this was not the Case.

All the attention is centered in this, even Kim is tied to CTU event, since she is looking for protection. Jack did is work trying a phone call to the president to prevent this, however lynne thought that would blow Jack cover, and he decided without Palmer orders to sacrifice CTU, in order to find the Bomb.

Mason escape plot didn´t end well for him, since we learn that he will.....

KAte Family plot continues to be boring.

Overral a very tense episode, well tied and with a great Finale.
  • Wow episode

Oh.. This episode really nailed it all. First the bomb threat what becomes more and more serious with every minute and second. The way Jack just has to look how noone does nothing as Palmer's administration is plotting on their own and when he learns, it is already too late. That telephone guy and he attacking Jack, it was also great, showing that it is just not "do as Jack says". And the minutes before explosion in CTU...Paula in the last minutes getting the encryption trough and Tony up there.. hoping best for him..

And ofcourse George.. he was not a char I liked first season but the way he has been acting now.. I think he really redempts himself. And Kim and Megan.. oh...

10:02 A.M.-10:08 A.M.: Kimberly frantically searches for, and finds, Megan. The police come to Gary's aid, and he tells them that Kimberly kidnapped his

daughter. As Mason drives north out of Los Angeles, Tony phones him with news that the LAPD located a suspect in Panorama City. District wants Mason to

check it out on his way to Bakersfield. At the Northwest O.C., Lynne gives the President bad news; the predicted casualties are actually higher than they

had anticipated, ruling out any possibility of a dirty bomb. The NSA now believe they are looking for a nuclear weapon. Now a member of Eddie's crew, Jack

questions why CTU is being targeted, but Eddie won't reveal any information. Suddenly, Jack's cell phone rings. It is Kimberly, but she has not heard any

of the messages from her father because she lost her phone. Although Kimberly begs her father for his help, Jack tries not to give anything away within

earshot of Eddie's crew. Instead, he tells her to go to her Aunt Carol's house. Kimberly doesn't understand why he is telling her to go all the way to

San Jose. She then calls Tony, who informs her that Jack is working undercover. Tony asks her to get to CTU, and she says she will take a bus.

10:08 A.M.-10:09 A.M.: All of the phones in CTU get corrupted, thanks to Eddie's crew taking out the phone lines at a relay station. Eddie sends Jack to

watch the road. He discretely attempts to call CTU to warn them, but he cannot get through. Jack instead calls the O.C., and asks to speak to the President.

10:09 A.M.-10:11 A.M.: Since Palmer is in the midst of a press conference, Lynne takes the call. Jack warns her of the attack on CTU. He asks her to have

the building evacuated, and then hangs up when Eddie approaches. In the O.C., Lynne and Eric Rayburn presume that this hit on CTU is a diversion from the

main nuclear attack. When Lynne tries to notify CTU, Rayburn stops her. He believes that doing so will blow Jack's cover and ruin his chances of getting

close to Wald. Lynne is adamant about telling Palmer, so she asks Jenny Dodge to interrupt the press conference.

10:11 A.M.-10:12 A.M.: Two telephone repair workers arrive at the relay station, and find that the locks have been cut. Eddie's van ambushes them, and Eddie

shoots one of the workers. He then orders the other one to call his boss and say that he must go on-site at CTU to check the phone system.

10:16 A.M.-10:21 A.M.: Rayburn calls Tony with an order to copy and transfer all CTU database information about the nuclear threat onto NSA's server. Since

he wants it done in under an hour, Tony has Paula work on sending the data over. She goes into Mason's office to use his computer. Michelle points out

to Tony that if this order had only been precautionary, then other agencies would have received the same request. CTU was the only one asked to forward

their databases. Mason arrives at an industrial complex in Panorama City, where a vehicle was linked to someone on the terrorist watch list. This complex

is the same place where the nuclear bomb was being built by Marko's team. The police at the scene break into the building, and see the remains of the area

where the nuclear weapon was constructed. Suddenly, a gunman fires at the officers, and a shootout occurs. Mason realizes that a powder has been dispersed

in the air, and notices a radiation warning sign. He coughs as he calls out to a policeman to summon Hazmat, because this may be a possible hot zone.

10:21 A.M.-10:23 A.M.: Kimberly rides with Megan on a city bus toward CTU. Megan asks Kimberly whether she makes her own father mad. Kimberly reassures

her that she is not the cause of Gary's anger, and promises that she will never let him hurt Megan again.

10:23 A.M.-10:25 A.M.: The telephone repairman pulls up to CTU, and the worker lies to the security guard that he is there to fix the phones. Although Eddie

and his crew are in the back, they are cleared into the complex. The worker asks what the crew could possibly want from CTU. Eddie explains that they are

taking back their country. ^We're patriots,^ Jack says.

10:30 A.M.-10:34 A.M.: Kate gets a call from Ralph. He confirms that Reza didn't have contacts with the terrorist. He tells her he is obligated to notify

the authorities at Homeland Security, and warns her not to tell anyone. When she hangs up, Marie and Reza playfully try to coax her into meet his cousin,

but Kate pulls away forcefully. When Marie confronts her, Kate tearfully says that she only wants her to be happy.

10:34 A.M.-10:36 A.M.: Lynne is surprised to see Jenny hurrying through the O.C., as she had asked her to interrupt the President's press conference. Jenny

tells her she slipped him a note regarding his urgent request, but Palmer did not respond. As Eddie and his crew make their way into CTU, Jack waits in

the van with the tied-up worker. He urgently writes a note warning that there are bombs being placed in the building.

10:41 A.M.-10:43 A.M.: Mason calls Tony from Panorama City to tell him about the lab where the terrorists have assembled the nuclear bomb. Everyone at the

scene is being put through decontamination, but they still don't know if they were exposed to radiation. Mason will send Tony the fingerprints from the

dead bodies to see if they match anyone on the watch list. Tony informs him that NSA ordered CTU's database to be transferred, but did not make the same

request from other agencies. Mason agrees that this is not usual protocol.

10:43 A.M.-10:44 A.M.: Michelle approaches Paula in the restroom. Although she is worried about her friends and family living in Los Angeles, the frightened

Paula knows that it is her duty to keep working.

10:44 A.M.-10:49 A.M.: Jack releases the phone worker with the note intended for Tony, explaining that he is a government agent working undercover. After

the worker gets out, Jack cuts himself with his switchblade to create the impression that he has been struck in the head. Eddie and the crew return to

the van, and find Jack knocked out. Eddie is mad that the telephone guy got away, but lets everyone in the van out before the building explodes. As the

van pulls away, Kimberly and Megan arrive at CTU. She tells the security guard that Tony is expecting her.
  • Oh my, and it's only the third episode!!

    "Superb"
This episode is fantastic and because its only the third episode, this season is looking to be very promising. It doesn't fail to impress me after the amazing ending of the previous episode.

They are going to bomb up CTU!! 'Hmm... yeah whatever. Its obvious Jack will find a way to stop them.' However, thats not the case. But seriously, there was nothing else Jack could do to stop the bomb. He attempted to inform the president; he cut the back of his head open; he let the hostage escape. I particulary liked the scene when Kim rang Jack and he had to maintain his cover while he was talking to her. I felt sorry for him, poor Jack!!

The situation between Lynne and Eric is very good in this episode as they attempt to deal with the situation regarding the possible bombing of CTU. What Eric did only made me hate him even more when he rang CTU without even warning them about the bomb.

The moment when the countdown reaches zero and the bomb explodes is very well done. I really hope that Tony would be okay!! When he ran up the stairs to grab Paula was very brave.

But it doesn't end there... At the end we find out that George has inhaled a high dose of radiation poisoning and that he'd be dead by the end of the day! The poor man looked like his puppy had just been put down lol.

Quote of the hour! George Mason: "Not even gonna buy me dinner?"

  • Da bomb diggity!

The plot seriously thickens when Jack is forced to help Eddie Grant bomb CTU, with relatively few opportunities to alert the authorities to the imminent attack. I like the aspect of this mini-threat that Jack must face before tackling the main threat (the nuke), so this hour gets high points.

Most of the major plotlines are woven together exclusively for this hour: Jack and Eddie infiltrate CTU, Rayburn keeps Lynne from telling Palmer about CTU, Kim and Megan go to CTU, and Tony and Michelle are AT CTU.

About the stuff that's not related to the bombing: Mason finds himself investigating the warehouse where the nuke was assembled. And Palmer finally gets back into a suit. As for the Warners…nobody cares about them yet.

With this episode, "24" sorta became another milestone for television, in that Eddie and his guys actually succeeded in setting bombs off inside a government building. What other show would have done that at the time? And just to rub the salt in, the final scene features Mason ending up with a high dose of radiation from the plutonium. Meaning he'll be dead before the day's over.

It's too bad, though. When I first saw this episode, I had a little difficulty following everything that was going on (I wasn't really into "24" at the time). Therefore, I wasn't as shocked as I should've been when the bombs went off, and that may be all that's keeping the score from a perfect 10. Then again, it might be the Kim Bauer storyline. Yeah, let's go with that.

    Hourly Highlight:

    CTU go BOOM!
  • My favourite sub-plot ever. This is the kind of stuff where 24 goes behond belief, and becomes more than a TV show.

With of a dout one of the best episodes ever. This is probably tied with 1pm to 2pm as the best episodes of S2. The fact that the one place on the entire show that is considered 100% safe, and never has the urge to panic, is about to be blow into the next day is out of my mind. In the previous episode where Jack finds out that he is about to asist in the bombing of CTU, I pretty my sh*t myself.

The Jack plot continues to flow him as he travels with Wald's crew, this time knowing that he is really running out of time. They need to steel a phone repair truck and sneek into CTU, while Jack desperetly tries to contact CTU. The president plot is one of the best of the season, as they become deeply involved in the bombing. There are a few nice twists in that story also that I like, involving the Eric and Lynne situation. Kim, of course, is still running from Gary with Megan, and happens to stubble upon CTU right around, oh say 10:55, or show I say, dooms day. The finale minutes are heart stopping and the entire episode is a rush experienced only in 24! Classic!

    top 3 moments

    - Masson "You're not even going to buy me dinner?" I love his one liners.

    - Jack's phone call from Kim in the car. Very, very suspenceful. Great acting. I feel so sorry for Jack because he wants to talk to her so bad, yet he knows he can't. Perfect Jack moment!

    - What else? Kaboom!!!

Loved this episode a lot. When Jack learns that the guys he is pretending to be cool with plan to blow up CTU, the building which he used to work for, Jack hastes to find a quick and effective solution. Kim continues to run from the phycho father, only to find herself running for CTU to try and find protection. Jack attempts to prevent the blow up and frees the prisoner, telling him to tell everyone about the explosion. CTU figures out the explosion plan as a member of Palmers staff calls to tell them, only seconds after they had figured it out themselves...causing some harsh words among a CTU leader. CTU explodes with deaths unknown as the episode ends

jack bauer sends a warning to CTU via the presiden't national security team, it turns out that this is a mistake, since elements inside the government don't have plans to save CTU. Kim takes Megan to CTU thinking this is the safest place for her to go. Eric and David Palmer feuds over the handling of the press. george mason goes to a suspected terrorist hideout where a nuclear bomb might have been hidden. this makes things bad for him. this episode is so engaging, it's a really exciting episode to watch. i really had a good time watching it.
  • THE episode of Season 2? To this day it still remains one of my all time favourites!

    "Perfect"
After the huge shock of Teri Bauer and her death last season, you'd easily be forgiven for thinking that a shock that big would never happen again. Wrong! After sucessfully managing to infiltrate Wald's crew undercover in the previous episode, Jack's sent on his first job with them, and it's far bigger than what he probably anticipated: blow up CTU.

The concept had been hinted at previously, with Eddie telling Jack what the job was in the closing scenes of the previous episode. It's so shocking though you dont expect it to happen, and it is then shocking because it does. This episode as a result focuses largely on the job Jack's landed himself in, and pleasingly, we get to see the baddies at work putting their plan into action. Equally appealing is Bauer's worries of the explosion, and trying to warn others while staying undercover. Very satisfying to watch!

The explosion itself is fantastic, seeing CTU techies run around and in peril for a change was definately a refreshing sight, and managed to give Tony some "hero points" as a result, his handling of the situation superb. The suspense of the episode up until that point also helped increase it's appeal, as even last minute you were still unsure of if the bombs would detonate or not. Catching you of guard when they did.

Easily the explosion's the hightlight of the episode, perhaps even season, and the script's been written to make sure it's at the centre of the majority of everyone's storyline. From the way Rayburn tries to cover it up to the fact that by the end of the episode Kim and Megan are part of the explosion at the end of the episode, it affects most of the characters, minus the Warners and George Mason.

But in what could be argued as an equally big surprise, George after trying to escape LA is called to a warehouse en-route and involved in a gunfight. It's later revealed after the shootout that George has in fact inhaled too much plutonium, and the warehouse is where the nuke-bomb of the season was built. The closing scene of the episode is George, sitting in an ambulance, being informed it's severe, and that he has anytime between a day and a week to live...
  • Um....huh? They can't do that can they? Wait, you mean they can? Oh.

    10
    "Perfect"
This episode is great for two big reasons. It's incredibly suspenseful, almost impossibly so. And it's one of those episodes where 24 does something that had never really been done on TV before.

    Strengths

-Wald's crew coldly killing one of the repairmen

-The crew actually walking by people like Tony was very cool

-The HIGH-larious moment when Kim arrives with Megan and it gets even better when she says something like, "Don't worry; we're safe here." Fantastic.

-Jack chopping open the back of his head

-Tony and Michelle evacuating people out of the building.

-It actually blowing (shot very well)

    Weaknesses

    -Absolutely none

This episode gets a perfect 10 and remains one of the best episodes in the show's illustrious history.
