    • Jack: Luis, come here for a second. Putting him away is not the point here. If he doesn't talk, we haven't accomplished anything. I didn't lose a year of my life to arrest some drug dealer. Salazar does business with terrorist cells around the world. Bringing them down is our only objective, are we clear? Luis: I understand, but if you give Salazar everything he asks for, he's just gonna want more. This is the deal, and he's going to take it.
    • Adam: I've had it Tony, I swear to God... Tony: What's the problem, Adam? Adam: Chloe O'Brian does not touch my data! If Field Ops wants something, she asks Jack or talks to you, then you tell me. Tony: Did she damage anything? Adam: That's not the point! The reason my department has zero downtime is because of the procedures I put in place. Tony: Did she damage anything? Adam: No she didn't but... Tony: Then let it go. Look, Jack's got his department and I got mine. But we're all under the same roof, understood? (Adam nods) Good. Now lighten up. You're gonna drive yourself and the rest of us crazy.
    • Jack: I need you to replace Chloe for me. Chase: Replace her? She is the best analyst we got. Jack: No she's not, she's slow. Chase: She's not slow. I mean, she may be a little (pauses) wierd, but she knows her stuff.
    • Chloe: I did do it right. If you wanted it saved with the other files, you should have said so. That is the standard, so I wouldn't think of doing it that way, would I? Jack: (agitated) Just do it that way from now on. Chloe: I can't read minds, Jack, so you are going to have to spell it out for me, otherwise this relationship won't work.
    • Tony: And you'll come along as the wife. Without a job? Michelle: I will go anywhere with you... as long as I don't have to cook. Tony: Sweetheart, if you promise not to cook I will take you with me anywhere... But if they don't have a job for you then I'm not interested.
    • Chase: (noticing Jack all stressed out) You look like Hell. Jack: What did you just say to me? Chase: We're on an active protocol OK? I need to know if you're up for it or not. Jack: I like working with you Chase, you're a nice kid, but don't you ever come into my office and talk to me like that again, do you understand me?
    • Salazar: It's eating at you isn't it? What am I up to? Come on Luis, you have me in chains, two tough guys waiting for a chance to beat me to a pulp. Do it Luis! See if you can beat it out of me!
    • Palmer: It's just gonna be another one of those days.
    • Salazar: I'm concerned about you Jack. The things you did to get me here I wouldn't wish on anyone. Let's face it, you'll never be the same.

    • DB Woodside (Wayne Palmer) and Glenn Morshower (Aaron Pierce) both appeared in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer a year earlier called "Help", although they didn't share any scenes together.
    • This episode marks the final appearance of former series regular Sarah Wynter (Kate Warner). Her guest appearance is edited out in the 43-minute version of this episode.

    • Ford, the primary sponsor of the premiere, incorporated 24 and the character of Jack Bauer into the two-part commercial that aired before and after this episode. Although Kiefer Sutherland did not appear, nor did any other 24 actor, the commercial featured a Jack Bauer look-alike, foreign spies, a secret tracker, money and a car chase that involved the Ford F-150. Jack Bauer was not mentioned by name, but the commercial was clearly meant to compliment 24 without stepping on any toes.
    • Reiko Aylesworth (Michelle) is now a series regular after recurring in Season 2. James Badge Dale (Chase) is also a series regular.
    • Fox aired an edited 43-minute version of this episode with commercials twice after the full-length premier. It was broadcast on 10-30-03 and 11-04-03 before Hour Two.
    • This is the first Season Premiere that doesn't start in another country.
    • The tattoo Kiefer Sutherland has on his wrist during the final scene is real. Sutherland opted to get it permanently instead of reapplying make up everyday.
    • A 3-minute trailer for this season's premiere aired during Fox's presentation of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon on September 7th, 2003.
    • This episode aired 100% commercial free in North America.  The "real time" premiere ran for only about 51 minutes.
