2:00 P.M.-2:05 P.M.: Jack struggles to maintain his composure, trying to fight his obvious drug addiction. He sits at his desk, sweating, with his mind racing. He then goes to find the needle and disposes of it, while saving a vile of the drugs, that apparently wasn't completely empty. Meanwhile, the conference continues between the Chief of Staff and CTU over the virus outbreak threat.
2:05 P.M.-2:13 P.M.: Chase walks in to Jack's office to talk to him, and implores Jack to join a program to get off of his addiction. Chase understands it was only to maintain his cover with Salazar, but Jack does not want it to go on record, so he quickly refuses. Meanwhile, CTU tries to figure out what the form of the virus will be, before it becomes too late for Los Angeles, and most likely, the world. Kim wants to tell Jack about her relationship with Chase, but Chase is reluctant to tell Jack, due to fear of what Jack's reaction will be. Chase wants to wait for another day, but Kim seems to want it out of the way, as soon as possible. Kim decides to tell Jack, anyway, but his reaction was exactly what Chase expected. He can only hope his obvious anger won't last.
Dr. Macer discovers that a white powder was found in the virus-infected body, coming to the conclusion that the virus is probably in a drug form.
2:17 P.M.-2:26 P.M.: Jack and Chase both drive to the apartment of David Goss, the name of the body found with the virus. Back at University of Southern California, Wayne informs David of the threat. Then, Keeler, the man competing against David for the presidency, comes up to him and they share a brief, public conversation, while Wayne talks with one of Keeler's men. When Wayne talks to David, he tells him they may have "an opportunity."
On their way to Goss's house, Chase nervously talks about Kim to Jack, trying to straighten up any problems, however he's left with the same cryptic messages from Jack.
2:30 P.M.-2:38P.M.: Wayne explains to David that he has an opportunity to get a "playbook" of Keeler's, which would give David a heads-up on what Keeler plans on saying at the debate later that day. David declines initially, wanting to win the debate in a fair way.
In the washroom at CTU, Kim feels worried that her father will take action against Chase, so he asks Michelle how her relationship with Tony is, despite them working together at such a hectic job. She seems to have no problems with it. Jack and Chase arrive, and Jack requests that no transmitters be used for CTU, since it will take too long.
2:41 P.M.-2:48 P.M.: Jack and Chase enter the low-cost apartment building, and come face-to-face to many drug addicts and party people. They suddenly come across a "runner", who tries to escape, using a high power rifle, that nearly hits Jack. After making a wrong move, the man stumbles down a flight of stairs, and Jack catches him, quickly moving in with questions. The man tells them about Kyle Singer, and quickly gets CTU to begin searching for Kyle.
Meanwhile, at the risk of losing their home, due to rent payments, Kyle pays $1,800 for three months of past due rent, but does not divulge any information on where he get the money to his mother. She is visibly suspicious.
2:53 P.M.-3:00 P.M.: After finding the bag of drugs, Kyle's girlfriend quickly breaks it off with Kyle. Even if his intentions of helping his parents were good, she does not want to take part in any illegal activities, while Palmer asks Anne to talk to Dr. Macer, to get a bit more information on the virus.
Jack and Chase take Parker out into a cop car, and Jack orders Chase to go back with Parker for questioning, while he goes to investigate Kyle Singer. Chase is angered, but Jack tells him if he wants to continue a relationship with Kim while working as a field agent, Jack needs to keep him out of harm's way. Jack drives off, and Chase reluctantly goes with Parker.
Wayne walks into David's room, with a folder in his hand, and puts it on the desk. It's Keeler's playbook. David does not want to win an election this way, but Wayne tells him that there is something on Anne in it, and it would be in his best interest to read it.
After having another phone conversation with Hector, his contact leaves the darkened room full of monitors out into the office he works at: CTU Los Angeles.
