  • An affair to forget

    6.0
Holes from the last hour are filled in as the characters go over this big undercover operation with the Salazars and what its purpose is. But after that, Jack spends the hour getting reacquainted with Ramon and Hector (and Claudia) while going through withdrawal symptoms. Not exactly "24" at its most captivating, mind you. So Jack slept with Claudia while he was undercover? How SO shocking! And by "shocking," I mean "contrived." And by "contrived," I mean "boring as hell."Meanwhile, Anne gets some exonerating documents from Ted, who then shoots himself. After that embarrassingly dumb scene, Anne gives the papers to Palmer, and then breaks up with him. And boy, that storyline sure went out with a whimper. Not that it was ever anything more than a whimper. At times, it was a mere squeak. But Chase, who is unaware of the undercover op, goes to Mexico to rescue Jack, while CTU tries to get in touch and stop him from ruining everything. Okay, this part wasn't bad, especially when he arrived in Mexico and got captured by the Salazars' henchmen. And unknowingly broke Jack's transponder, leaving him alone and vulnerable. But no; accounting for the Palmer stuff, the "drama" about Tony having to keep the operation a secret from Michelle, and one ultimately useless scene where Tony has a fall in his office, this episode is subpar at best.Hourly Highlight:Jack "shooting" Chase.moreless
  • Solid with two great Scenes filled with Tension!!!!

    7.7
Logic/Details - » This episode is about building up this new undercover plot, so as ridiculous as it seems, since to achieve that, there was tons of ways to free Salazar without doing all that, but ok, since this show had to sacrifice logic for emotions, it is understandable for now. Besides the ridiculous and extreme explanation, the main objective of this episode was build up the undercover plot and put every player in is place.

This is why this episode was more slower than the last episodes, but the time and scenes management was not bad. Progress -» Was just about setups and put every player in their positions. Anne Plot was ended.

Emotions/Stimulation/Highlights -» The tension in Salazar house was strong, the best part was the beginning and of course, last scene with Chase when the tension was great, this two scenes was the only highlights moments of this episode.

Ending - » The ending was good, since it shows us that things will be more complicated.

Overall - » A solid episode that make a good setup and make things more interesting. There are two scenes filled with great tension that make this episode worth watching.moreless
  • Turn of the tide

Wow.. And we thought we understand what was going on - at the start of this episode they just turned everything upside down again and again we cannot be sure of anything.

Just so much happened on this episode - first the letters Anne was getting and then all the struggle with her ex-husband and the gun... then Anne leaving president. That was unexpected turn of a tide.

All thing with Chade - they trying to get him and those bad guys getting him and Tony not managing to say him what was important. Jack putting gun on Chase.. that was a great turn of plot - Jack was ready to kill him and probably live with the aftermath and the results knowing all what was between him and Kim. And that woman on Salazar ranzo. What Jack had promised to him...moreless
  • What a ridicious sting operation, lol.

    6.5
This episode is most anticipated due to the BIG twist at the end of the previous episode. However, it comes out as just average. Jack's explanation to Palmer just doesn't make sense to me, I guess it's quite a lot of information to take in. But this means that all the episodes before this were pointless, just pointless. A big waste of a quarter of a season, huh.

Even though not a lot happened with Jack in this episode, it had a couple of great moments such as, when Roman nearly shot Jack; Jack and Claudia's interaction. And the last five minutes of the episode? That was superb. Jack pulling the trigger on Chase was brilliant, it was one of the best moments of the season. I wish they ended the episode right there and then though because the ending with the transponder was pretty crap.

I'm glad that Anne has gone because she annoyed me and hopefully the Palmer storyline will get better now. I was sure that Anne was going to be accused of murdering her ex husband though =/

Quote of the hour! Jack Bauer: "You should never have come down here Chase. You should have listened to me."moreless

Now that David and Anne have called it quits, it will allow more time to be focused towards Bauer and his mission down in Mexico. I’m sure some kind of complication with interfere with an easy buying of the virus. This episode was still very good, which Jacks scenes topping all of the rest. Between getting stared down by Ramon and almost killed, Jack really put his life on the line to come down to Mexico and get this mission. I thought the drama at CTU was pretty average, with nothing really big happening there other then Tony taking a fall and the intense phone conversation with Chase. In the end - with the watch broken and the presidents drama all seeming to be over, it looks like the next few episodes will feature a lot of Bauer, which is always a good thing when it comes to this show...moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • About five minutes in to the episode, they return to the Salazar ranch and the caption says "Las Nieves, New Mexico". It has been stated numerous times the Salazar ranch is in Las Nieves, Northern Mexico. This was fixed in the DVD release.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Ramon: Why do we even need Bauer?
Hector: He made the first contact with the Ukrainian scientists. They want to deal with him; they trust him.
Ramon: You trust him too. The man who pretended to be our friend and then put me in prison!
Hector: And got you out again!
Ramon: He has an angle, Hector, count on it.
Hector: Of course he does! $50 million is a big angle.

    • Chappelle: I'm not so sure this is gonna work out well for you, Almeida.
Tony: Maybe not, but right now I gotta help Jack get this virus and I don't need you looking over my shoulder, alright?
Chappelle: You work for me. You don't give orders; you take them.
Tony: Yeah, except the president put me in charge of this particular operation. Now, if you object, give him a call. I may be wrong, but I didn't get the impression that he's in the mood for any bureaucratic squabbling today.

    • Jack: A few years ago my wife was killed because of my job; my daughter's never been the same since. This last year, well you know what I went through to bring you in, what did I get for it? A pat on the back, in the end a demotion, and a heroin habit. I'm tired of putting my ass on the line for nothing. I'm done putting my ass on the line for nothing.

    • Jack: (ready to shoot Chase) You should never have come down here Chase. You should have listened to me.

    • Claudia: (slaps Jack) Look at you. You're pathetic. You're still a junkie aren't you? That's the only real thing about you. It makes me sick to think that I ever believed you. You said you'd take me away from here, remember? Do you remember Jack?
