Logic/Details -» Things continue to move really slowly, No one was able to discover in time that tony was being controlled by Saunders. All the Scenes There try to maintain you side by side with tony and pry for him to find a solution, since he is screwed or good. The producers decided to managed this all Tony receiving demands from Saunders until the end of this episode and even that is not over yet. I think that this could be managed better, since 20 minutes would be sufficient to handle this, so 40 and lead for nothing is not a thing that I thought that was very attractive.

This is a very intriguing episode, one that doesn't rely on quick-cut shootouts or glorious explosions to entertain the audience. It is also filler, but I prefer to look at it as an episode where the characters take a deep breath before diving back in for the finish. Yeah, that sounds better.

All the intrigue takes place in CTU. You read me correctly. As Tony tries to cover his tracks in Saunders' escape, he must also find a way to break Jane out and avoid Chloe and Jack's suspicion. This premise leads to some very tightly wound scenes that might bore you, but keeps my eyes glued to the screen all the way through.

Palmer's storyline gets tugged back into the mud when Sherry returns and offers Keeler a deal to blackmail her ex-husband and force him to drop out. Things were going so good for a while there! But this story arc doesn't get in the way too much. Yet.

Things heat up to a nearly insane degree by the end, when Tony Almeida follows the orders of a terrorist and starts bringing Jane back to her father. The tension is increased by the gigantic, sextuple-window split screen, and the lack of a final scene afterward. Giddiness abound.



Hourly Highlight:

In my opinion, the best Jack Bauer "DAMMIT!" of all eight seasons so far. When he realizes Saunders is gone, you can see him gearing up, his face seething with pissedness, you can almost feel it welling up inside him, and then…it does not disappoint.

I adored the intense nature of this episode as there have been different kind of moles in CTU - some they know, some they did not, some were not moles.. but to have Tony acting not in the best intrest of CTU is something new and the mess he manages to create around him and how every step puts him more and more into the whole trouble - it was nerve wracking to watch and see when they will figure it out and how he work this out.



On the other hand, it was really exciting to watch Jack to trying to find his way on those lies all around him and try to figure out how Saunders got out. The last minutes of this episode - they were so intense, so much happening and again, all was the matter of time.

This entire episode was pressure packed with Tony Almedia having to cover his own tracks while trying to find a way to get Jane Saunders out of CTU undetected. I thought the acting done by Carlos was really well done and I like how the pressure was shown on camera by having him sweat on camera. Jack being "in charge" of CTU shouldnt be too big of a new devolopment seeing as he just went back into the field to try and find Tony and capture Saunders. Sherry Palmer going to see Keeler was a pretty big twist and a very nice filler part of the episode. I like Sherrys intensity in almost all of her scenes and I think that the offer she proposed to Keeler will effectivly make it so that we have a fresh president and some new acting in season 4. Overall, I think the episode was really well done with the main focus on Tony Almedia.

Tony is being blackmailed by Saunders, he does favors for him in exchange for Michelle's safety. Sooner or later, Chloe and Jack becomes suspicious of what's going on. Sherry Palmer's is as two faced as ever, now she's working for David Palmer's rival in order to get even with him. This episode pulls surprises in every turn, it's really exciting. I really had a good time watching it, the characters are really interesting, the plot is so riveting, I just can't get enough of it. They really did a good jon. This is a really good episode. I can't wait for the next one.

Poor Tony, almost loosing Michelle to the virus & now Saunders has her. He betrays CTU & kidnapps Jane, and locks Chloe in Tech 1. Great moves. In the earlier seasons he was always complaing about Jack taking things into his own hands when they become personal, but when it came to his wife he did exactly the same thing.



What was Sherry thinking? She's holding a grudge against Palmer but how could she stoop so low, and would she actually risk going to jail just to get back at Palmer?



And Michelle, was great. You could tell she was up to something by the way she stayed absoloutly calm.

This episode definitely had some great moments, but I just couldn't get over how stupid it was for Sherry to return in the manner that she did. That really hampered the rest of the episode for me because I couldn't stop thinking about how ridiculous it was for her to return and completely break her character apart.



Pros

-Great "damn it!" by Jack at the beginning.

-I liked the set of the place where they held Michelle while she was kidnapped.

-Nice reaction by Saunders when Tony said he would be willing to slit Jane's throat

-More great Chloe stuff. This was one of her best episodes of the season.

-Keeler's line about "this should be interested" in reference to Sherry wanting to see him.

-Despite the idiocy of Sherry's storyline, PJJ acted the hell out of it.

-Jack accusing Tony of lying was very cool.

-Solid ending. I liked how the episode ended on the split screens as a sign that everything had just gotten out of control.



Cons

-Keeler, a Republican, having the endorsement of the AFL-CIO to begin with? Hell no.

-I *hated* Sherry's storyline with Keeler. It made zero sense logically and it made zero sense for Sherry's character. Why did the writers go to all the trouble in the second season to have her redeem herself just to make her character have such a role reversal this season and especially in this episode? This storyline is my least favorite non-subplot storyline of all-time on 24. Simply dreadful. I know they had to find a way to bring Sherry back for the second time this season but....wow.

-Not a whole lot really happened.

During the first season Sherry Palmer was a great character - the perfect politician's wife, up til the end anyway. Second season she went a little over the edge, but this season - wow, she's bonkers. We once again are introduced to the lengths to which she will go to obtain power - and indirectly screw over the President. Honestly every time she walks on screen now I cringe. I just know she's going to be an lying, evil, deceitful witch. It's kind of like watching a train wreck - you know what's coming, but you just can't look away.



Poor Tony, he gets his wife back - she's immune to the virus and is perfectly healthy - and she's promptly kidnapped by Saunders and his henchmen (love that word - so full of imagery). In any other show, I would say "of course Michelle is fine, this is tv..." but with the death of a major character every season you know darned well that no one on this show is safe in any way, shape or form. By the end of the hour Tony is frantic about Michelle, and has betrayed CTU no less than three times within that hour. The last bit where he locks Chloe in Tech 1 - you have to feel a sneaking sympathy for the action, because, really - just having her locked away somewhere where she can't complain, whine or snipe at anyone is so nice. I dislike her almost as much as Sherry Palmer.
