    • KRLH, the TV station the Araz family is watching, are actually call letters for a religious radio station in southern California.
    • Ronnie goes into the dry cleaner and sets down the two-direction camera. He's clearly behind the camera and should appear in its "rear view," but back at CTU the rear view monitor shows no sign of him.
    • Jack somehow gets from the hotel to CTU for his visit in two minutes of on-screen time, during 7 a.m. L.A. morning traffic. Maybe if he had a catapult...

    • Jack: The bombing this morning was diversionary. Your father is the real target! You got to get out of there now! Audrey: (confused) Target? Jack: Audrey...! Audrey: Oh my god. (missile hits limo)
    • Chloe: What are you thinking, Jack? Jack: Sherek didn't come here for a train bombing. Something is going to happen at 8 o'clock.
    • Jack: Erin, listen to me. This doesn't make sense. I know this guy's file, he's a major handler. He wouldn't risk exposing himself here in the United States for a train bombing, it's not big enough. Driscoll: We'll take that into consideration when we interrogate him. Give my best to Secretary Heller.
    • Navi: (to Behrooz) What we accomplish today, will change the world. We are fortunate that our family has been chosen to do this. We cannot fail.
    • Audrey: We better go. Jack: Yeah. Audrey: Secretary Heller is going to be in the lobby in five minutes. Jack: Secretary Heller? Audrey: Yeah, I called him "Dad" once in a press conference, so I decided then and there to use his title all the time.
    • Audrey: Do you miss your old job? Jack: I could have joined other agencies if I still wanted to do field work. But I didn't. I wanted something different from my life. (kisses Audrey It may not seem like a lot to you, but for me, to be able to have this kind of connection, I couldn't do that before. Audrey: I'm glad you can now.
    • Driscoll: Open up channels with Division, start investigating this bombing. And work up with what you have with Sherek; we'll brief in a few minutes. Chloe: What about the Defense Department meeting? It's in a half-hour. Driscoll: Who is Secretary Heller sending? Chloe: Jack Bauer. Driscoll: Jack? Are you sure? Chloe: Yeah, he hasn't been back, well, since you fired him.
    • Chloe: You know, you're really transparent, Sarah. Stop trying to be Driscoll's pet, she doesn't like it.
    • Chloe: As usual, Edgar, we can't hear you. Also, where's your laptop in case you need to pull data? Edgar: I'm sorry, I'll speak up. And, uh, I don't need my laptop, I have everything memorized.
    • Heller: We do not live in a utopia. America has enemies. Richard: Enemies that were are friends a year ago!
    • Heller: Spare me your 6th grade Michael Moore logic!
    • Navi: What we accomplish today will change the world. We are fortunate that our family has been chosen to do this.
  • Notes

    ADD NOTES
    • Season 4 is the first season in which the premiere episode does not feature the line "Events Occur In Real Time" in its opening.
    • Alberta Watson, who plays Erin Driscoll, is no stranger to 24 creators Surnow and Cochran. She played Madeline (a character quite similar to Driscoll) on their earlier TV show Nikita.
    • Faran Tahir appeared previously in Day 2: 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. as the Mosque Greeter. It's possible that he was the same character. If you look closely at his profile, you can see that he was a member of Second Wave, the terrorist organization from Day 2.
    • Shohreh Aghdashloo and Jonathan Ahdout previously played mother and son in the 2003 feature film House of Sand and Fog.
    • Fox decided to deviate from their normal 24 airing schedule and delay the season premiere until January 2005. This gave viewers a longer break in between seasons, but ultimately allowed the show to run without preemption for its fourth season. Fox further decided to move 24 from its usual Tuesday night time slot to Mondays, kicking off the season with a special two-night "miniseries" premiere consisting of the first four episodes airing on Sunday and Monday evenings.
    • Throughout Season 4, Shohreh Aghdashloo receives the "and" credit.
    • The Season 3 DVD set contains an exclusive six-minute prequel that sets up events for the beginning of the fourth season. The first scene occurs six months after the conclusion of Day 3 and shows Driscoll firing Jack from CTU because of his drug use. The second scene takes place three months before the events of Day 4 and shows a terrorist sneaking across the U.S./Mexican border, and then killing his accomplices. The third and final scene occurs six hours before Day 4 begins and shows Jack and Audrey in a love scene. The prequel is available on the Region One set, but not Region Two.
    • This is the first season opener since the series premiere to be aired with commercial interruptions.
    • As of this episode, William Devane (James Heller), Kim Raver (Audrey Raines) and Alberta Watson (Erin Driscoll) join the regular cast.
