What I liked -» Secretary Heller attitude. Audrey reaction to Henderson. Finally Henderson was caught, but unfortunately he will escape somehow. The new villain appearance explains that how President Logan planned all, now this make sense. Karen attitude and how she finally figure out.

What I Didn´t Liked -» A new villain appearance, this means that or Logan plot ends now, or this new villain will play his role in season 6 or later.

Action - » (9/10). Another Gun Fight that was nice to see. Also you have a pursuit here.

Drama - » (9/10). Finally some drama for Audrey. Martha reactions was nice.

Suspense/Tension - » (8/10). Not like the last episode, but managed to be great. Surprises/Shocks - » (10/10). There is a character that is supposed death by now and a appearance of another character that was missing. The action that Logan takes against his wife caught me by surprise. Also a new player arrives.

Time and Scene Management - » (9/10). Hard to notice that scenes that bought time.

Plot Details/Holes- » (8/10). There is a flaw, but overall, this was for traded for an emotion. A new villain appearance may give you a explanation on how President Logan planned things.

Beginning - » (7/10). We started with the usual 24 quality, following the consequences.

Complication Phase - » (8/10). This time things were less complicated, this episode focused in mini complications like: dealing with Martha, to pursue and to catch Henderson, to save Heller and also Audrey and Karen figuring out some things.

Climax - » (7/10). Audrey saving operation, but feel like another replay from the previous episode.

    Ending - » (7/10). The usual 24 ending.moreless
  • Very much happening

    9.2
This episode just managed to have so much different thing happening - first was the whole thing with Henderson and he saying that Heller is shadowed and what Heller decided to do with that problem.. and poor Audrey.. she has really got hard stuff in last couple of episodes.

I most say I also liked what was going on in CTU.. how Karen finally made a sense and warned that they are coming after Chloe.. And Logan confessing to Martha that he was involved.. wow.. that was something.. and how she took it.. A great acting..

And everything with Jack.. very exciting...moreless
  • Van Nuys Airport Re-Revisited

    8.0
Yet another guy up the food chain is introduced: Graem, Bluetooth's answer to Max. Think they're trying too hard to make him mysterious, and it comes off a little bogus. But he may grow on us yet. Anyway, all Graem does here is tell Logan to shut Martha up. So Logan admits everything to her. Wasn't expecting that.

Jack gets a break and recaptures Henderson quite quickly. But there's always a catch; let me just put it this way…Heller drives into a lake. Yes, that should be cryptic enough.

These events take their emotional toll on Audrey. If you wish to see Ms. Raines break out of her Damsel routine, just watch her little scene with Henderson. Possibly her best ever. And may I say, she's never looked prettier.

To keep Jack busy for a while, the writers have come up with a story arc where he must find the recording stashed on a plane. So he goes to Van Nuys Airport for the third time tonight to try and stop the plane from taking off. But what kind of show would this be if it were that boring? No, Chloe's powers fail her this time, and Jack must stow away and do his thing in the air. Fudge anyone who doesn't consider that awesome.

And turns out Karen's not such a bad lady after all. Fancy THAT!

    Hourly Highlight:

In my opinion, the greatest Martha Logan freakout of the season.

    It would've been Heller's death, but…you know.moreless

    9.4
I thought the death of James Heller was done really bad. Not so much that fact that he prematurly drove his car of the cliff, but the fact that Audrey had almost no reaction to it. I remember in Season 4 when Paul died Audrey almost had 7 heart attacks screaming in vain as he died. Without a doubt Audreys unability to handle her emotions was something that we would all remember and she hardly shed a tear for her father when he died. Not to mention the fact that she was left with his killer and did nothing. I know Jack requested she not kill him, but come on. The Audrey I know would have shot that man in a heartbeat. I think Audrey should have flipped out a little more...anything.moreless
  • Great episode this one!!!

    10
Jack examines Audrey’s wound and sees that the bleeding has stopped. He tries to contact Chloe, but she doesn’t answer. A cell phone rings in the pocket of one of Heller’s dead guards. Jack answers it and talks to Heller, who is driving away from Logan’s retreat. Heller asks him for forgiveness for his earlier actions, but Jack blasts Heller for betraying him and hangs up. Jack then calls Buchanan and learns of Chloe’s escape from CTU. Jack tells Chloe that he needs her to track Henderson using CTU surveillance. Chloe says she can do it, but not for long or CTU will be able to trace her location. She uses Bill’s computer to spot Henderson driving away from the airfield. Jack and Audrey take off in pursuit.

Logan calls Henderson to see if he’s destroyed the recording. Henderson tells Logan that he’s keeping it for insurance against the possibility that Logan will try to have him killed, just like Walt Cummings. Logan tries to talk Henderson into changing his mind, but Henderson promises to keep the recording under lock and key and will only release it in the event of his death.

Jack speeds up and gains on Henderson, forcing him off the road. They trade shots and Henderson tries to flee, but Jack gets the drop on him and forces him to drop his gun. Henderson tells Jack that unless he lets him go, Heller will die. Henderson has men tracking Heller and they have orders to kill him unless Henderson calls in every 15 minutes. Jack has Chloe patch him through to Heller, who confirms that there is a chopper above him targeting him with a laser site. Jack is ready to let Henderson go, but Heller orders him not to give up the recording. Heller then guns his car and plunges it into a lake. Enraged, Jack slams Henderson to the ground and demands the recording, but Henderson doesn’t have it. Audrey begs Jack to shoot Henderson, but Jack pistol-whips him instead.

Logan calls a man named Graham and tells him to cancel the action against Henderson. Logan tells him of the recording, but Graham believes that Martha is the more immediate problem. Graham knows that she has been asking questions of Aaron Pierce and that she must be silenced. Logan promises to handle it.

Secret Service tells Martha that Aaron was transferred, but she doesn’t buy it. An agent named Adams tells her that her husband wants to talk to her. When she goes into an office, he locks the door behind her and she discovers that the phone is dead.

Jack searches Henderson and doesn’t find the recording. He figures that he must’ve handed the recording off to someone else before leaving the airport. Chloe pulls up footage of Henderson meeting another car, who’s driver took the recording and then got on to a plane which is preparing to take off. Jack asks Bill to call Curtis and have him bring a team over to secure Henderson and get Audrey to CTU for medical attention. Jack tells Audrey not to go near Henderson when he wakes up. They kiss goodbye and Jack leaves.

Miles tells Hayes that Bierko has regained consciousness and they are waiting for a medical check before interrogating him. Security calls Hayes and tells her of Chloe’s escape and Shari’s involvement. Miles knows that Chloe will try to use CTU resources to aid Jack and that they can find her when she hacks in. Hayes questions Shari, who tells her the whole story, including the fact that Logan was involved in Palmer’s assassination.

Logan talks to Martha and confesses his role in Palmer’s death. He also claims that he had Aaron transferred back to D.C., but that he’s all right. He wants her to stop her inquiries and stay silent for the good of the country. Martha is heartbroken and says she now hates her husband, but promises to keep quiet.

Graham’s associates are getting worried about too many loose ends. Graham gives them a nice pep talk and tells them to remember the strength they all had when they started this thing 18 months ago. Logan calls in and tells Graham that the situation with his wife is under control. Graham tells Logan to do whatever he has to to keep her in line.

Henderson begins to bait Audrey, telling her that there’s a chance that her father survived the crash into the lake. Audrey tells him to shut up or she’ll kill him.

Jack is watching the plane when Chloe calls and tells him that the chopper that was shadowing Heller is now heading toward Audrey and Henderson’s location. Jack calls Audrey and tells her to get out of there, but she refuses. The chopper lands and Audrey runs off. Henderson’s men uncuff him and he orders them to kill Audrey. Curtis arrives with his team and they kill Henderson’s men and capture him again.

Audrey calls Jack and tells him of Henderson’s capture. Jack asks Curtis to transport Audrey to CTU and allow no one near Henderson. Jack then calls Chloe, who tells him that the plane is a diplomatic flight that is about to take off. Jack asks Chloe to hack into the state department files and get him a passenger list as he evades security and approaches the plane.

Miles spots Chloe hacking into the State Department and traces her to Buchanan’s home. He tells Hayes that he’s dispatching a team to pick her up. Hayes calls Mike and asks if anyone has actually seen the evidence against Jack. Mike tells her that Logan isn’t consulting anyone for the current operation, so no one has seen anything. Hayes hangs up, thinks for a moment, then calls Bill and tells him that Chloe is being traced and that he has less than seven minutes to get her out of there. Bill tells Chloe to go, but she wants to send Jack the passenger list first.

Jack hides in the shadows as luggage is being loaded on to the plane. A car flying British and French flags drives away. Jack pulls down his hood and grabs two bags, then discretely walks on to the plane. He hides in the baggage compartment as the plane takes off.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (6)

    • Real-Time Error: In the last scene the time comes up as 1:59. The scene was longer than a minute. In fact it was 1 minute 25 seconds in total and then, the end still had the last three seconds flash (as it always does), making the time actually 2:00:28, at the end of it.

    • When Heller is being followed by the helicopter, right after Chloe sends the satellite feed to Jack's PDA there is a scene where Heller is shown (from a high front angle) driving through an s-curve, then the camera moves to the right to show the helicopter next to him just above the mountain. When Heller is later saying "Do not let them get away with this. Make sure..." they show the exact same scene, except captured from a low front camera angle. You can tell because the curves of the street are the same, the shadows over the curves are the same, there is a telephone pole on the back hill in both scenes, and when the camera moves toward the helicopter the mountain & trees under the chopper are exactly the same.

    • Jack calls Chloe's cell phone and gets the voice mail. In the first episode of the season, Chloe said she had to throw out her cell phone when she was being chased by Haas' men.

    • Hendersen claims that had Heller's windows not collapsed under the pressure, his car would maintain an air pocket that could sustain him for half an hour. Although this is a ploy, he neglects that cars are not air tight, as water can enter through ventilation.

    • When Buchanan called up Curtis to get him to the farm where Audrey and Henderson were, he and his team were 25 miles north of their location. He was able to get there in 23 minutes, which means they would have had to drive in excess of 60mph on the same windy roads Heller was on.

    • Real-time error: When Henderson came to (1:42), he told Audrey that her dad may still be alive stating only 10-12 minutes have passed, when in fact a half-hour has elapsed since he drove over the cliff (about 1:11), but said there could be 30 minutes of an air pocket. His watch also showed the hand at the bottom of the hour.

  • QUOTES (15)

    • Novick: (to Karen on phone) All I know is that, it's been a strange night.

    • Karen: Are you telling me you are not in the loop?
Novick: Actually, I don't think there is a loop.

    • Audrey: (On the phone) Jack?
Jack: Audrey listen to me. Henderson's men have zeroed in on your location, they're heading back towards you. You've gotta get outta there now.
      Audrey: And just leave him?
Jack: We don't have a choice.
Audrey: Yes, we do Jack. I have the gun and I can kill him.

    • Martha: Damn it open this door! I don't know what you think you're doing but you better think again!

    • Karen: Shari, did Chloe tell you why she was helping Audrey Raines and Bauer?
Shari: She thinks Jack is innocent.
      Karen: Based on what?
Shari: Based on some absurd idea that, that President Logan framed Bauer. She even said something about President Logan being involved in the assassination of David Palmer. I mean, can you believe her? And people think I'm crazy.

    • Jack: (to Henderson) Today you have been responsible for killing an ex-president David Palmer and the secretary of defense, two real patriots. Damn you. What happened to you?

    • Chloe: (to Buchanan) I hope you don't mind me bossing you around but technically I don't work for you anymore.

    • Heller: There is a chopper above me. Who are they?
Jack: Henderson's men. He claims he has given them orders to kill you if I don't let him go.
      Heller: Is he bluffing?
Jack: He doesn't do that, sir.

    • Miles: I got O'Brian.
Karen: Did you find her on our system?
Miles: Yeah, she was using one of our nodes to try to log in to the state department network.
      Karen: Do we know why?
Miles: No but she was using a work around I have never seen before so I machine coded a matrix to get through...
Karen: Miles, we just need to find her. Where is she?

    • Martha: I will keep my mouth shut because the people in this country doesn't deserve to suffer. You do Charles...You do.

    • Chloe: (to Buchanan) Open up a parallel channel in the NSA's LAN SATS. Scan radio slices in three malincrements emanating from the retreat...sir.

    • Karen: Why did you let Chloe escape?
      Shari: She...intimidated me.
      Karen: She intimidated you?

    • Heller: Do not let them get away with this!

    • Martha: I've forgiven you many things, Charles, But not this. You've broken my heart. I'm looking at you and...I hate you.

    • Jack: How could you do this? This isn't about what you think is best for the country. This is about your greed for power.
