I enjoyed this episode all the way through from start to finish. The writing is top notch this season as it has been for the previous four seasons. Peter Weller is excellent as the evil Christopher Henderson, Mary Lynn Rajskub is just as excellent as Chloe O'Brian and of course, Kiefer Sutherland continues to shine as Jack. The suspense just never let up and I guarantee that after watching this episode you won't be able to wait for the next one.

  • A good episode!!!

What I liked -» The tension in this episode, the gun fight, that Audrey and Chloe were clever. Vice â€" President attitude.

    What I Didn´t Liked -» Miles.

Action - » (8/10). Another gun fight, more weaker than the last episode, but it was nice anyway.

Drama - » (8/10). The Man of the Bank, poor guy, why the writes decided to kill him? Also what happened to Evelyn?

Suspense/Tension - » (9/10). Audrey running, Chloe helping her and Jack in another difficult situation, the tension was very good in this episode.

    Surprises/Shocks - » Don´t expect anything.

Time and Scene Management - » (9/10). In this episode it is hard to notice any scene that was there to buy time.

Plot Details/Holes- » (9/10). President Logan action is more explained during in his conversation with Henderson.

    Beginning - » (9/10). The usual beginning of 24.

Complication Phase - » (8/10). Things are complicated in every side: Chloe, Audrey and Jack.

Climax - » (8/10). The gun fight was great.

Ending - » (7/10). The usual ending that leads to the next mini plot.

So this is how the writers are gonna fill out the rest of the season? …Tight!

With the whole President Evil angle, Jack doesn't waste time rallying as many allies as he can at CTU. Which is Audrey and Chloe. In other words, he doesn't make any new friends this hour, except for Carl Mossman, but that doesn't last long, and it was a "Nelson and Martin in Shelbyville" kind of friendship anyway.

Jack goes rogue like nobody's business as we follow his and Wayne's mission to break into a bank and retrieve a recording that can bring Logan to justice, while Henderson and Logan himself take measures to stop them. So the next few hours of the season will revolve around a piece of digital evidence that must be sent to the right people through the constant grab attempts of the bad guys. That's not a plot rehash at all!

But as I have said, no season-to-season comparison here. Keeping in mind the big twist we just had, this episode is hunky-dory. And after Jack saved that little girl at the Sunrise Hills Mall, Henderson's actions are quite an atonement (even if we don't get to see them). And the weirdo 007-esque music…it's weirdo 007-esque music! You don't hate that!

    Hourly Highlight:

I bet Miles WOULD like to know what Chloe was doing…

So, it is on - they are after the president and it does not go easy when your opponent has all the possible ways to get to you - Chloe and Audrey have to get Homeland security off Audrey's tail.. and Chloe almost gets to the problem with it but walks away saftly.. Jack has to use some extreme measures to get to the bank and it costs one man's life but it all ends up that leaving a little girl alone with her mom who is wounded is not a good idea.

And the end.. oh.. it was promising. I have my hopes high for next one..

This was a pretty good episode, from all 3 sidestorys. President Logans involvment all along is coming along a little better then I expetced. He never meant to harm the country and it doesnt sound like he really wanted President Palmer to be killed. I liked his role in this episode. The CTU cover up of Audrey and Chole went well as well. Choles sarcastic "Do you want me to write a report about it" coming out the restroom was briallant.

Jacks scenes are always good and the infultraion of the bank owners house was great. It was kind of dissapointing that the bank owner died randomly, he could have lived and I would have been a little happier with the episode. All in all, Season 5 is shaping up to be the best on yet
  • another great 24 episode

Jack and Wayne mounts a rescue mission to retrieve Evelyn's daughter. Logan issues an arrest warrant for Jack. Audrey contacts her dad James Keller for help. She drives away from CTU in order to meet her dad without getting seen. This is another integral part of 24, stuff happens in here, the drama is so intriguing, it keeps you guessing and keeps you wanting for more. The writers did a good job with this episode. The James Keller scenes were really great, it fits well with the show. The government plane flying towards LA looks really great. It adds to the suspense of the show.
  • Exciting episode.

All in all a rather good episode. It had some great tension and exciting plot points, but what made it less great for me was the music. It felt like something out of a bad video game. They seem to have been experimenting with music throughout this season with mixed results. I like it best when the music on 24 is low key, it shouldn\'t take up too much of our attention.

Logan\'s a terd. I\'ve been saying it all along! It will be interesting to see how this all goes down... I just hope nothing bad happens to Aaron Pierce.

The Audrey storyline didn\'t excite me much. I\'m not too fond of her character. Sometimes I ever wonder if she really is among the good guys.

Jack and Wayne make a good team though. I liked their tour to the bank.

I knew something like that would happen with the Evelyn storyline... It seems like the smartest thing would have been to admit her to the hospital under a false name. Or simply get rid of the phones in the motel room so that the kid couldn\'t call anyone...

  • Wow!!! Jacks a legend

Ya gotta love jack and wayne in this episode. I\'m sure they\'ll be together a while. Loved the music in this episode too, was slightly different to the usual 24 music but loved it. Audrey was getting on my nerves a bit but cam together in this episode. Chloe was as lovable as she\'ll get, which is the way i like her, lol. All in all this was a great episode and the starting point for the last load of episodes, hyping up to the season finale!!!

Can\'t wait until the last episode so that I can see the direction the show will head for.

Fury had a daunting task coming into this episode. With the revelation that Logan is bad, he had to make it believable and fitting for the story and his character, and not another lame shock for shock's sake. Thankfully, it wasn't an early sign of a negating the character development we've seen. They preserve Logan's character as a man of weakness without suddenly rewriting him as some uber villain for Jack to deal with. Logan is still a weasel, passing blame for Palmer's assassination on Henderson.

Of course, Logan has to dig himself deeper by implicating Jack in Palmer's assassination with no evidence. I can almost imagine him whipping out a confession written in crayon with the "R" in Bauer backwards. That's the only choice he has, unfortunately for him. Jack now knows what Logan's real agenda is, and he must be silenced before he can bring him down. However, springing this bogus evidence isn't sold on CTU, at least for Karen, even if they have to enforce it. Of course, she doesn't know Logan's involved, but Logan's reluctance to elaborate on the so called evidence he has is suspicious.

Gardner and Aaron also smell something fishy with Logan's behavior. While Aaron can remain a strong ally in Jack's counter conspiracy, they will now have to craft Gardner's character differently. Before the final moments of the last episode, Gardner was largely antagonistic and suspicious. Now that he's cleared, will we see a different side? It depends on what will happen when Logan is outed as a traitor.

Martha is still in the dark, but we see a seed of doubt in this episode, as Logan isn't quite out of earshot when Henderson calls him. She has been an interesting character all season, but recently her role has been diminished a bit. I can't wait to see how she reacts to what her husband has been doing.

Although what has happened today is the brainchild of Logan, Henderson's status as the big bad this season remains untouched. Rather, they kick it up when he presumably murders both Evelyn and her young daughter. It's doubtful that Henderson would allow them to walk away from what they've seen. However, is there more to this story? Martha must find out soon that her personal assistant and daughter were killed. One possible outcome of this is that Henderson could frame Jack and/or Wayne for their murders when it becomes clear that they won't be silenced.

There has been a lot of comparison between Karen and stubborn CTU heads of the past. However, this week, we see something different: her admittance that replacing CTU was a mistake. This was answered with a resounding "Duh!" by the audience, but it is a step in the right direction. On the note of replacing workers, what about Curtis? He's been MIA since Jack emerged from the ruins of the plant, is Bierko still headed to CTU or is Curtis back and dealing with it off screen?

Chloe and Miles' rivalry is also fun, even with the new James Bond soundtrack ("Chloe's Theme"). I almost expected Miles to shout "Chloe!" when she managed to corrupt the satellite signal and get to the bathroom before Miles could get there. Anything to give these knuckleheads a hard time.

Audrey is certainly a smart ally for Jack to have, as she smoothly moved the transponder to the utility truck when Chloe discovered it. Audrey has come a long way from being a bit annoying with limited story potential last season. In the wake of many beloved characters dying off, characters like her have stepped up. It does make up for her not getting her father involved.

Finally they got Heller involved. With all the things that have been happening, it is odd how they wouldn't get him earlier. However, we learn that he was in Japan (or on a show on ABC, your pick), so that explains why he couldn't come straighten things out at any point during the day. Now, Heller is their only hope when it comes to a high ranking government official, the history between them (obviously for Audrey) helps a lot.

On that note, why didn't Jack call Curtis or Buchanan to help with the Evelyn situation? They couldn't take her to a hospital because of Henderson and his men and she would've bogged down Wayne and Jack going to the bank, but couldn't they leave her with someone safe? Also, why have Wayne get the room? He's by far the highest profile of the three adults and such an incident would draw some attention.

The bank manager is a big bummer for the episode, especially since the wound he sustained didn't look nearly bad enough to kill him as fast as it did. He's the latest in the series of civilians who find themselves unwittingly involved in the terrorist plot or conspiracy. When he realized what was happening, he only wanted to help, and unfortunately, that cost him. He probably could've locked himself in the vault, but Henderson's men could possibly break into the safe with their equipment. I wonder if there will be any fall out for this action or if anyone will untie the guy's poor wife.

Getting the LAPD involved to distract Henderson's men is morally questionable, as they are essentially leading cops to their deaths, but they are stuck in an impossible situation. Jack and company need to get out of there and there is very little way they can do that without costing lives. They can't get the military involved since they are looking for him. Ultimately, the blood is on Logan and the conspirator's hands, for placing Jack in that situation.

The end of the episode doesn't drop a major bombshell as last week, but it shouldn't. The mere fact that they are ready to go against the president is enough of a cliffhanger to end the episode. Granted, we still have a ways to go before the end, so Logan isn't likely going to go down just yet. How can this complicate enough to take us back to 7 AM?

most 24 episodes are almost painful to watch because you just KNOW something bad is going to happen or be very NEAR to happening but the music kind of reminded me of pulp fiction or something! it was just more like whoo! go jack! instead of \\\"ohmygod ohmygod oh my god!!\\\"

i thought evelyn looked kind of stupid falling and hitting her head...

why didint jack tie something around her leg!! it was so wierd, he just said \\\"i need to dress the wound, its going to hurt...\\\" i thought he went to get something to tie temporarily but he just left!! hehe oh well, theyre probabaly dead now, cant wait to see Mrs logan\\\'s reaction.

its hard to see the changaround of president logan from **** to ultimate schemer...i mean why did he ask vice president to assist him if they were going to collide heads? and the whole walt cummings thing! did he know about it?? and when he was CRYING to martha about not being able to handle it, is it ebcause his plan was screwing up and he didint know wat to do?

its funny how he says to henderson \\\"no, its YOUR responsibility.\\\" what a dick! haha

    Episode #113 - Day 5: 11:00 pm - 12:00 am - 4/10/06

Following the shocking twist at the end of last week's hour, Jack and Wayne desperately try to both outrun and hide from Henderson and his men while driving the injured Evelyn and her daughter to safety.

They find out that not only is President Logan the one who supplied the terrorists with the nerve gas ... and the one who OK-ed the assassination of former President David Palmer by Henderson, but that evidence, a recorded phone session that Evelyn has of Logan, incriminating him, is hidden safely in her deposit box.

Once they arrive at a hotel, Palmer gets a room for Evelyn and her daughter while Jack calls Audrey and informs her that the culprit is not the vice-president ... but rather the president himself. Jack warns Audrey to keep her eyes open and not to trust anyone from Homeland who has taken over CTU. After they get Evelyn into a room, she tells them that she and her daughter will be fine and for Jack to get to the evidence as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Henderson informs Logan of the situation but tells him not to worry - he will find Jack and the tape that Evelyn has hidden. President Logan takes further precautions and contacts Hayes and orders a warrant for Jack's arrest, telling her to notify all police and military units. Hayes is reluctant to do so, as she is not given any new information as to why Jack has suddenly become a fugitive wanted for conspiring in the murder of David Palmer, but she carries out the orders anyway.

Jack and Palmer drive to the home of the bank manager, Mossman, and sneak in, drawing their guns on him and his wife, ordering him to take them into his bank (where the deposit box is located). Meanwhile, Audrey prepares to leave to meet up with Jack, but is unaware that Hayes has bugged her car, allowing Homeland to track her. She calls her father, the Secretary of Defense, and convinces him to meet with her at an airport in Los Angeles.

With Chloe's help, Audrey is able to discover the tracker planted on her car while at a gas station, and she wisely slips it onto the wheel of a truck to throw them off. Meanwhile, the vice president confronts Logan regarding his order to arrest Jack Bauer ... and is put in his place.

Back at the hotel room, Evelyn's daughter goes to wash her mother's blood off of her hands and starts crying in the bathroom. Evelyn gets up from the bed to go to her, but she loses her balance and hits her head on the table, prompting her daughter to do the unwise thing of calling 911 ... and giving out her mother's name. Immediately Henderson's men track the call after it is made.

Jack and Palmer arrive at the bank with Mossman, and he punches in the code to get them in. As Jack searches the vault, Mossman tells Palmer that he recognizes him from TV - he is President Palmer's brother, and he wants to know why the hell they are robbing his bank. Palmer comes clean with him, telling him that what is in one of his safety deposit boxes may be the key to exposing the real murderer of his brother. Jack finds the tape of the phone conversation between Logan and Henderson.

Back at the hotel room, paramedics arrive and tend to Evelyn, but her daughter screams when two shots are fired, killing both of them ... it is Henderson. Back at the White House, President Logan gives his formal press conference and officially declares the crisis to be "over." The first lady apologizes to him for acting the way she has, but when he receives a mysterious call from Henderson, she begins to suspect something is not right.

Henderson gets the information he needs and sends all of his men to the bank; they wait outside and are ordered to shoot as soon as Bauer and the others exit. Back inside, Mossman listens to the tape along with Jack and Palmer, and is shocked ... but agrees to help them any way he can. However, Jack realizes there are men outside of the bank before they leave and realizes they must come up with a plan.

Back at CTU, Chloe finds out that Hayes and Homeland have continued to track Audrey, this time using the satellite system. Realizing that she must throw them off before Audrey gets to the meeting point, she secretly corrupts the server internally, breaking up the signal, and causing Hayes' man to notice that she's gone. However, she is able to cover her tracks before she is found. Her exploits allow Audrey to get to the meeting point safely.

Back at the bank, Jack thinks of a plan and has Mossman pull the silent alarm, causing swarms of LAPD to arrive, and since Henderson doesn't want them to get the recording any more than he does Jack, he orders his men to fire on the cops. Using this as a diversion, Jack and the others escape and climb into a police car, but not before Mossman is fatally shot. Jack calls Audrey and confirms her position and that the Secretary of Defense is coming, also telling her that there is now no doubt that Logan is the one behind all of this ... and that this means they now have to take down the President of the United States.

The satchel that Jack Bauer manages to keep with him at all times is soon going to reach legendary status. It's a modern day version of Batman's Utility Belt. It has everything Jack needs to break into houses, blow things up... just amazing!

In this episode, Jack manages to get his hands on the recording of President Logan and Henderson that was recorded following the assassination of David Palmer. How did Evelyn manage to get the recording? And how did she manage to get it in a safe deposit box? And how did she get caught?

I'm not sure I can resolve all those questions in my head yet. Or maybe ever. But the action keeps me on the edge of my seat every Monday night, so I'm happy to put those things aside. And they make for great water cooler conversation the next morning at work.

Try to think back... at any point earlier in this season, would Evelyn have been given a chance to get away from the retreat to get to the bank? Now I wish I'd kept all the previous episodes on my TiVo!!!

Other key items include the return of SoD Heller (Audrey's father), played by William Devane. He will get the opportunity to confront Pres. Logan coming up, which should prove very entertaining.

A warrant was issued for Jack's arrest, by Homeland Security at the direction of Logan.

And of course, Henderson has found Evelyn and her daughter at the motel.

    Is it Monday night yet???

How do you actually go about 'bringing down' the President? This should make for interesting viewing. Some people gonna die methinks.

The tape recording doesn't really prove that much other than Logan had some involvement in the days events. There is no evidence to suggest the extent of his involvement and it certainly doesn't incriminate him in Palmer's death.

There is still time for Logan to further incriminate himself however; that daft order to have Jack detained raised a few eyebrows. His decision not to immediately revoke martial law despite 'the crisis being over' should have bells ringing . Also his blustering on the phone to Henderson when Martha is sat beside him doesn't exactly reinforce the evil-genius notion I'd been thinking all week.

I think it is safe to assume Evelyn and her daughter are dead, they both, like the bank manager knew too much and had to die to avoid too many loose ends. Consider anyone who knows the truth to be a target.
  • Overall, this episode steps back into transitional territory, building on the revelations from the previous episode and setting up the elements for the final conflict of the season.

    8.0
    "Great"
So as it turns out, there’s almost universal confusion (and rampant consternation) regarding the reveal in the previous episode. A lot of fans felt that Logan’s sudden complicity in and apparent command of the terrorist plot was a ridiculous turn of events. In fact, some say that it took a character with “dignified weakness” and turned him into some kind of flawed mastermind. The truth, as always, falls in the middle ground: the writers probably knew that Logan would factor into the story, but as they made things up week to week, the continuity was muddled.

This is one of those classic transitional episodes, building on the late season reveal by giving Jack a short-term objective that keeps the plot moving forward while everyone reels with the new knowledge. In this case, the objective is getting to Evelyn’s safety deposit box and the evidence therein. This not only gives the hour a defined scope, but it gives Jack and Wayne a chance to play partners. Who knew Wayne could be such a fun character?

It’s a little annoying that Jack has to be the one to push Audrey into calling her father. It’s something she should have thought of on her own. SoD Heller is probably the only person who can rally the right people in the administration to deal with Logan’s illegal activities. For that matter, he’s the right kind of person to moderate Gardner’s more extreme tendencies, should he be elevated into the presidency. William Devane may want to keep himself available; he could be president by the seventh season!

This episode actually helps to clarify Logan’s role in the conspiracy. It seems that he came up with the basic idea of setting up a terrorist act so he could ultimately get more credit for his initiative through immediate application of the accord with the Russians. From there, he brought in Henderson, who took it into places Logan never intended. This allows Logan to be the “mastermind” while keeping the earlier episodes (and his shock within them) intact.

For all that, it still takes something away from Logan, who was better as a weak president trying valiantly to overcome his own worst impulses. Logan was essentially a man trying to keep his options open as long as possible, and in that sense, his failures and desperate decisions were compelling and frustrating in the same moment. That interpretation of his character still works to a certain extent, but now he’s too much the villain; some of the subtlety seems to have been stripped away.

Early in the episode, this problem arises. Logan calls Karen (who is a lot more in the dark than one might have guessed) and comes up with some half-baked reason to arrest Jack. At least the characters bring up the obvious rebuttals this time around; too often, the characters just go along with the insanity without comment. This does, however, accomplish something that should make the end of the season very interesting: Jack is leading the charge against the president.

Audrey and Chloe make for good allies, and as anticipated, Karen and Miles become annoying obstacles to avoid and overcome. While Jack and Wayne take the bank manager hostage (something that probably won’t go over well if things go badly), Audrey and Chloe do everything possible to keep Audrey’s meeting with her father a secret for as long as feasible. At the same time, Gardner and Agent Pierce begin having their own doubts, and Pierce gets more screen time as a possible ally for Jack. All in all, the counter-conspiracy is one hell of a strong group!

It’s a little annoying, however, for Evelyn and her daughter to be victimized. It’s all too easy to make the audience anxious by tossing a little kid in the line of fire, and the clear implication here is that the bad guy killed mother and daughter to eliminate loose ends. It served the demands of the plot, since Henderson had to know where Jack was going to keep the story moving, but it was still annoying.

Martha has long since been established as a wild card in the story, and she continues to have that potential. She has demonstrated a willingness to act against her husband’s desires if she believes it to be the right thing to do. Would she be as willing to act if she knew that her husband could be imprisoned and disgraced as a result? Martha has been one of the highlights of the season, so her dilemma should produce compelling drama.

Chloe has become quite the fan favorite because of her unique attitude and ability to step into new and exciting situations with a fresh perspective. It’s especially good when she decides to act on her own to get things done “the right way”, because she rarely worries about the consequences. (Even the idiotic baby plot in the third season is an example of this.) Her attitude with Miles in particular is nothing short of hilarious.

The scene at the bank was never going to end well for Mr. Bank Manager (he could have worn a red shirt, for all the good it would have done), and the music is unintentionally funny. Jack and Wayne make for a great team; Wayne would be a fitting addition to a restored CTU for the presumable sixth season. Given that the network has all but indicated that the series will remain on the air through a potential eighth season with Sutherland on board, there’s more than enough time and opportunity to give Wayne a strong presence later down the road.

Despite being at the start of the traditional “resolution” phase, this is all about moving pieces on the board. The writers seem to like moving the story in four-episode arcs, so this positioning won’t take very long. Heller is a man of action, and he has every reason to trust Jack and Audrey. One of the strong advantages to this season and the current plot twist in particular is the validation, in a certain sense, of Jack’s personal ties in the fourth season. Audrey has come a long way, to say the least.

One final note: the recent news regarding Sutherland’s contract for three more seasons is definitely a good thing for the future of the series, but it should be taken with a grain of salt. Networks always leave themselves the right to cancel a series if it favors them to do so. Some might remember how networks treated “Farscape” after making a massive announcement in support of the series and a two-season pickup: cancellation after only one of those seasons. The producers and writers will still need to work at bringing their best to the table instead of using shock as a substitute for substance.

  • Does anyone else have an awful feeling this is going to be dragged out for the remaining 7 hours?

    8.0
    "Great"
Ok, don't get me wrong.. I love 24 and have followed the antics of Jack and everyone at CTU since the beginning, however every week I am amazed by the sheer audacity of this show in revealing just how incompetent the United States government seems to be. On the other hand however you see a critical decision such as that to allow Homeland to absorb CTU be transformed from an initial idea into actual takeover within a matter of minutes. I seem to sometimes get lost in the fact the assassination of David Palmer took place only 17hrs ago in this day spectacular, I mean how many things can go wrong for one person in such a short space of time! I concede to the fact that months of planning by the terrorists involved must have gone into this in order to have the day run smoothly from their point of view however, how one man can go from being dead, to alive, then give orders to the President and finally have a warrant for his arrest issued all in the space of the time it takes me to get up, go to work, come home and have dinner is beyond me!

The episode itself was classic 24, although I do agree with some previous posts here that it may have been a tad harsh to kill off the bank manager, it served no purpose to me. Though in saying that as we saw with Evelyn and her daughter civilians in all of this always find a way to make things worse for Jack when seemingly trying to do the right thing, so maybe his death does hold some substance.

My only trouble with this episode is the awful feeling that this ‘evidence’ and the matter of getting it into the right hands in order to “Bring down the President of the United States” will be so thwarted with danger and mishap that we wont see anything significant happen until the closing stages of the Season. This leaves me with a big worry that this interim gap will be filled with some pointless antics involving perhaps the hot-but-stupid Shari Rothenberg and her plights of sexual harassment or less-hot-but-equally-stupid Martha Logan and her inability to see that her husband is a complete and utter tool.

I'm sure he won't survive this season... Anyways, amazing show as always and reaaaaal good episode :)

great great episode. still can't believe that president logan is a traitor. it's really not in his character considering how he acted in the last season. either he grew some giant giant balls or he was acting the whole thing last season. nice to see that aaron is still a good guy and that he believes jack. not really surprised that the bank guy died. it was either going to be him or wayne was gonna get hit. still wondering when the german guy is gonna get back at jack for screwing him over.
  • If there were a possible score of 11, i would give this 11/10. Week after week, we just continue to see why 24 is easily the best fictional show on network television today. This episode was the best to date leading to(hopefully) the final ordeal next wee

"Exactly Why I Watch this series" hardly describes how great 24 is. I just started watching this show only this season(I could believe there are another 4!) But wow, this was a very enjoyable follow-up to a great episode of Prison Break. This show keeps you guessing constantly, while at the same time invoking many different possibilities/outcomes in your mind of what might/will happen next. The writers of this show in my opinion are just awesome, and not only do they have a good dialouge, but the excellent presentation factor is also in tact. All-in-All, I've come to expect the best show to come up with episodes like these every week, and as usual i am more than impressed with 24.
  • Moved the story along, but only sort-of exciting.

This episode was great at moving the story along. The recording, Logan, the shoot-out, all classic 24. Evilyn's part, especially in the motel, was a little slow but necessary. Homeland Security is getting on my nerves, and Karen seems very weak. Why can't she follow her gut and stop doing illegal things? I don't know, but it will be interesting to see how HS is torn back down from their reign in CTU. I also thought Chloe stood her ground. "If you want the details I'll write you a report" Nice...
  • great one

this was more of a transition episode that anything else. They just put all the pieces in the right places for the next phase of the season: Jack vs POTUS. So while things moved quite quick (quicker than usual) nothing of great importance happened (they found he evidence against Logan, but that was a given). Secretary of Defense at last returns; and agent Pierce might take a role in the 'coup' (at least I hope, I kind of like him).

One thing that bothers me is: didn't anybody think to tell evelyn's daughter not to call 911? I mean, it was pretty obvious. And the manager of the bank, the evident solution was for him to lock himself in the vault.

Anyway, the episode fullfiled its purpose, now we are all excited to see how the hell Jack will go after the president.
  • Good television, but mostly just a set-up for what's to come next.

    "Great"
While this was still good television and had some interesting points, overall I thought this was one of the less compelling episodes, especially this season.

I would classify this as a transition episode, with Jack and his trusted circle transitioning from dealing with the nerve gas threat to dealing with the final climax of Jack vs POTUS.

Good stuff: Chloe's trip to the server room ending in her coming out of the restroom just as Homeland security guy was looking for her. I figured it was going to happen, but it was still a fun moment.

Getting to see DaD again (Secretary Hellar. Borrowing a term from Televisionwithoutpity.com).

Wayne looking uncomfortable with the whole bank manager kidnapping bit. He's just not cut out to be a field agent.

Aaron giving the call in to Jack

Not so great stuff: Most of the stuff with Evelyn's daughter. Not that the actor didn't do a good job. But kids and this show just don't mix well.

The stuff between POTUS and FLOTUS. Too syrupy for me.

Next week's episode - looks like it will be good stuff.

    Stuff I'm stilling wondering about:

Is Logan really the chief bad guy?

Are the Chinese involved at all?

    Is David Palmer really dead?
  • Great episode cant wait for next week

Love this show and I love the new twist with President Logan. I can't help think that the first lady has something up her sleeve. But it would be nice if the first lady could actually be a good honest character. I know she's a little nutty but let's keep her honest???

Can't wait for the next episode...
  • OK so far so good

I didn't quite like the twist at the end of 5x16 because it was inconsistant with Logan's character from Day 4 and through earlier episodes of Day 5. The good news is the writers have not gone for an all out transformation of the character - he is still whining - telling Henderson to "handle it" - typical. But whether the character transition is going to be successful - we will see.

For the first time felt a little bit edge-of-the-seat for Jack. The President of USA after all is a formidable foe who wields great executive power. Good play, an executive order to apprehend Jack, the martial law enforcement, this is really turn out to be a little bit more challenging then usual, no mere walk in the park for Jack this time.

Also, with a good build-up of the demise of supporting characters, it really gets to you - now we are worrying for Aaron, Wayne, Audrey... those writers don't give two hood about doing anyone of them off you see. Good device there, always keeping the audience anticipating the worst and hoping for the best. This week saw the demise (not shown) of Evelyn and her daughter - with a cold killer like Henderson, I doubt they would live to tell.

The one-one assault on Home security-run CTU by Audrey and Chloe - what can we say? Excellent screen play. Typical 24 style, the supporting characters are looking good and every bit worthy allies of Jack the invincible. I smiled with glee at Chloe's "you really want all the details?..."

Heller is back! Pleasant surprise. Enjoyed his repportoir with Jack in Day 4 and looking forward to more.

Love the background score! Gives one the James Bondish feel to the whole proceedings, good supplements to the tight action sequences and adds to the suspense.

Again, every bit deserving of the score of 10.
  • I recommend that you dont watch any previous season (like season 3) while your watching a current season. Read my answer why!!!!

Still loving this season. But with 7 episodes left where do they go from here? I am all for having major storylines not involving a massive terrorist attack (which looks like what is happening here) but its nice to end a season with the threat as opposed to having the threat in the middle and ending the season with a political plot. Let me put it this way, the pres being bad and having it basically Jack vs. USA is a good idea, BUT the span of 5 or 6 episodes from the nerve gas hitting the hospital till stopping the rest of the canisters from getting out was just so damn exciting that this little stretch has been abit of a let down. I am jumping the gun of course, as next week something has to happen to set up the last 5 or 6 episodes, but I am an impatient person. The real problem I think I am having is that I have been rewatching season 3. I haven't viewed that season for awhile and even though I have always said season 3 was my fav, this season was looking to top it. After rewatching season 3 though, my opinion is standing. The pace of season 3 was perfect. That I guess is my concern about this season 5 is the pace is off (just like season 4). With Season 3 it started slow (24 slow, which is still faster and more exciting then any other show on tv), more character stuff leading to a major event (the hotel getting gassed) then continuing the rest of the season with potential terrorist attack. The pace for season 5 was going well because underneath the terrorist attack was the palmer storyline which everything spawned from but it just seems that they blew there wad with the 5 episode span. Let me just say that I am jumping the gun big time here and part of my problem has been rewatching season 3 on dvd. And I am sure in a week or 2 I will be singing a different tune. Just my thoughts at this stage of the game. Dont watch previous seasons though, its better to put seasons in perspective when they are done. Watching a season where you know where its going is a bad way to compare to something where you dont know everything yet.
  • Logan's Run...to what end?

    9.6
    "Superb"
Great episode. Edge of your seat as always. And great news 24 is back for 3 more seasons..er..days.

Plain and simple Logan is an egomaniac. He's always been jealous of Palmer and always wanted power. Martha gushed all over him and said how brilliant he was and this was the greatest triumph for any president ever.

This is exactly what Logan wants. To be known as the greatest. Not only that but to put himself above Palmer, who in this fictional world probably would be considered the greatest. Especially after his assasination.

I'm skeptical of Heller and his presence a bit. Despite what the ad's show us. But it will make a great showdown between Heller and Logan.

And we can see the Homeland Security Lady (forgot her name) will easily be swayed to turn things back to CTU. She is questioning the move already.

And was that Bill Buchanan's face I caught a glimpse of in next week's preview? I hope so, let's see him in the field now!

Chloe rocks! Do you want a report on my bathroom activities?
  • Logan's involvement revealed!!(Spoilers)

Last night, we found out that President Logan knew that David Palmer had to be silenced but he didn't want him killed, but was complicit either way in Palmer's assassination. Now Logan is aware of Wayne and Jack's collusion to take him down.

The question for me after last night was, what happened to Evelyn and her daughter after Henderson arrived at the motel and killed the paramedics and asked, "Where's Jack", beacuse that was it, there were no split-screens or anything about what occured back at the motel. Henderson got what he wanted because he knew they were at the bank, but did he kill them, guess we'll find out next week. The death of the bank manager was sad as well, but there was really nothing more he could contribute since at that point they weren't inside the bank anymore.

Next week, Secretary of Defense Heller and Jack are reunited for the first time since Jack's "death". Plus, Miles and Sherri conspire against Chloe to put her away for a long time, what's going to happen there? There are so many questions that pop up after every week, but it's always great to try to figure them out, and it even better that there is going to be three more years of this with the extension of 24!!
  • Every episode just as amazing as the last!

President Logan is a traitor. The slained President's brother is on the hunt with Jack. The Secretary of Defense doesn't know that he will be asked to bring down the President. How will the Secretary respond to the evidence? Will President Logan go down? Will he resign or go down fighting? What did Henderson do to find out where Jack is? This is the most gripping series out there, and in my opinion 24 is the best show for those of us who want to just relax 1-2 hours a week to watch an entertaining show. I hope that the huge ratings continue so that I can get more 24 down the road.

If you watch the first episode of the season, you will be hooked. I know that I was.
  • I still have goosebumps afterwards!

Holy freaking cow! There was a bit of a lull there with the Evelyn storyline (I would asume she and her daughter are dead), but once again, the writers did a fantastic job of keeping me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, especially at the very end with the shootout. Yay for LAPD SWAT! I too was saddened to see the bank manager die, but hey, you can blame it on President Stupid-head ... I mean Logan. He could have been a great addition to the team to take Logan down.

The previews show another great episode, but what I want to know now is how is Martha going to react to all this?
