  • Van Nuys Airport Revisited

    8.0
    "Great"

Buchanan reenters the picture and takes Wayne to a safe place where he'll stay hidden for the rest of the season. With that taken care of, Jack returns to Van Nuys Airport (he was there earlier to arrest Collette Stenger, yes?) to give the recording to Secretary Heller. 'Course, this show's name isn't "18." So be it—Heller punches Jack. Which means he's in on the whole thing? Nah, though that might be cool; he just wants to prevent a political scandal and get Logan to step down quietly. This ticks Jack off.
Now it's Chloe's turn to escape the DHS-possessed CTU. Chloe working outside for once and holing up with Buchanan is a nice way to progress the various storylines.
And while Heller's away, Henderson visits Jack and Audrey. In the end, it all backfires on Heller and gets him fired. I actually found this a clever utilization of the character, for some reason.
Aaron disa-Pierce. See what I did there?
Like Suvarov, I would've liked to see Gardner return and do something important in the final hours of the season, but his sole role was nothing more than red herring. Fancy that. Well, you don't have to fancy it, but in any case, we won't be seeing him again.
Final note: what is this, the Brady Bunch?

    Hourly Highlight:
Henderson "meets Jack halfway" (all for nothing, though!).

  • This episode shows that 24 can keep with shows like Prison break, the situation continues to be interesting like it was in season 2, just because this tape.

What I liked -» Heller attitude was realistic. One more confrontation between Henderson and Jack, also the confrontation between Heller and Logan. Aaron status is mystery right now. Liked the fact the every character had their time on screen, refreshing the screen, that was entertaining and interesting.

What I Didn´t Liked -» Hard to say.

Action - » (9/10). Another Gun fight here, 24 usual quality in action.

Drama - » Didn´t notice any drama on screen Suspense/Tension - » (9/10). You are going to catch a fright in one scene by the end of this episode.

Surprises/Shocks - » (8/10). Heller actions caught me by surprise.

Time and Scene Management - » (10/10). This time, refreshing the screen with multiple threads was nice and made very hard to notice any scene that was filler.

Plot Details/Holes- » (9/10). I didn´t notice any plot holes, the writers managed all the situation around the tape very well.

Beginning - » (9/10). The presentation phase ends when Heller take an attitude. Nice way to start a complication.

Complication Phase - » (10/10). This is the type of complication that can end thing’s for sure. Unfortunately this isn´t the end of the season, so…

Climax - » (9/10). Very well done, when Jack and Audrey had their confrontation.

Ending - » (7/10). The usual ending, things continues to be complicated.

  • That was brutal..

Oh.. I usually have no problem with the violence they have in 24.. but the thing with Audrey.. that was quite brutal and I most say hard to watch..

Ok, this episode can have subtitle - everything going wrong, starting from Chloe falling into trap but she got out of CTU, then Jack losing the record to Heller and Heller going to president and oh.. everything there..

Jack and Audrey being captured by Audrey's own father - I did not saw that coming, I most say.. and Aaron going missing.. I hope he is fine.. people there are putting pieces together. Mike Novac, Aaron.. and I think vice president is getting his share of the truth too.. how long will all of this continue?
  • Not much happened in this episode except that the president gets a slight upper hand.

Many of the episodes of 24 are able to push the story line further. However, this one started to drag quite a bit. It seems that for the last few episodes, they just realized they moved a little too fast and thus needed to slow down so as to get 24 episodes out of this season.

While it was nice, as always, to see the story progress, it has been lagging. This episode was also in keeping with the fact that at no point will I help Jack Bower out with anything he does. One poor henchman who decided to help Jack receives a bullet only seconds after deciding to change sides; a fine thank-you from the writers of the show.
  • Well then

That was interesting. Jack loses the evidance that would force President Logan to resign as Cheif of Staff and Audrey almost dies. Had I been watching this live Im not sure I would have been able to go an entire week not knowing if Audrey lived or died. However, thanks to DVD knowledge I know she lives which makes me a happy panda. Annnnnnnnnnways, The dissaperance of Aaron Pierce is very puzzling to me. Im not sure who could have known what he was doing as I dont think that the presidant was the one to take him out. there may be someone else on the inside now working with Logan. all in all the episode was really good, as expected from season 5 anyway

Jack and Audrey meets up with James Heller. Just as Jack and Audrey thought that their evidence against President Logan is in safe hands, Heller gets ideas of his own with how to deal with the president. Miles gets Chloe to contact Audrey so he can track down where Jack Bauer is hiding. Henderson goes to airport where Jack and Audrey are tied up. This episode gets the action going, it's nearing the end, things are leading towards a climax. i had a good time with this episode, it's awesome. the writers did a good job with this one. it's really fun.
  • An exciting episode with great pacing, wonderful acting and interesting plot turns.

Wow... I must admit that's my first reaction to this episode. Wow. So much happened in this well-written episode which ranks among the top of the season.

James Heller is a face I am glad to see again. He took a bad course but he is trying to do the right thing and I admire him for that. I loved his scenes with Logan, it is very clear which one of those two has the most integrity, intelligence and courage.

As for Logan, I am getting quite tired of him. When he was revealed to be the mastermind I had thought we'd get to see a different side of him, that his meek behaviour earlier was just an act. But it seems he is still the same Logan and I wish they would just cack him already.

Mrs Logan on the other hand needs to be less of a go-getter. I sure hope she didn't get Aaron into any serious trouble!

The scene with Jack, Audrey and Henderson was really great. The tension was amazing, the flow really good and the acting top notch. I felt quite sorry for Audrey. I just hope now that Jack has either made a copy of the recording (though don't ask me when he would have had time for that) or gave Henderson a false.

One character who stood out in this episode was Chloe. Go Chloe! The way she masterminded Miles, got past Sheri and then hurried to Bill Buchannan was wonderful. I really hope Chloe is a character that will stay in the show.

That must have been a split screen record in the end. Have they ever had that many before?

  • 24 at its best!!! 24 shows it\'s more than just an action series as the tension mounts in the countdown to the season\'s climax.

This episode has just aired in the UK and all i can say is what an episode! The quality of the acting in this episode was superb. Throughout the episode the tension was almost unbearable as Heller confronted the increasingly nervous President Logan. The fact that Heller would make a much better President than Logan showed in their dramatic confrontation in the way Heller kept Logan constatntly on the back foot and relying as always for somebody else to bail him out of trouble. This episode also saw the welcome return of Mike Novac, the decisive adviser who would also make an excellent President. Jack\'s role in this episode was diminished slightly although he returned to centre stage in the final moments as Audrey looked like the next candidate for the exit door. Henderson\'s decision not to kill Audrey but to leave her critical therefore allowing him time to escape showed how he is Jack\'s biggest foe to date!
  • One of Season 5's best episodes.

    "Superb"
I heard a rumor that one of the many incarnations of the concept for the 24 movie was going to be based on the events of this episode. The events in this episode certainly could've been rewritten for more closure: Jack could've killed/incapacitated Henderson and secured the tape, making Heller's confrontation of Logan a success. However, what fun would that ending be? Luckily, the pace in this season has been so fast that they now have six more episodes to tackle this subject.

It's good that Jack is getting Wayne help from the ousted Buchanan. He has proven to be an effective ally for Jack's, and being out of CTU/Homeland's loop makes him a great person to take care of Wayne. Where Wayne is headed isn't said, but hopefully he'll survive the bloodbath this season to be president a few seasons down the road. Why he isn't staying around until it's over isn't clear either, but perhaps the gunfight last week made him realize how dangerous it was and decided that Jack was best equipped to avenge his loss.

With Buchanan gone and Audrey in the field with Jack, Chloe was vulnerable to Karen and her slimy toadie Miles, who has been eager to get her since he stepped in the office. The big surprise is Shari playing a significant role in this, even catching Chloe off guard. She doesn't care for Miles, and appreciated Chloe standing up for her. So why would she align herself with them? Perhaps even with the sexual harassment allegation, Shari still felt she was susceptible to Homeland's penchant for filing out pink slips.

Jack would've been proud seeing Chloe sneak out of CTU, from grabbing Miles' key card (after this day all employees should get theirs surgically fused to their bodies) to swiping the CTU laptop. It culminates with her confrontation with Shari, where she utilizes the information she knows about Shari's instability to buy her freedom. While I was apprehensive about Shari's neurosis, it has been utilized in the story.

I am really digging the CTU A-Team of ousted members. It's safe to say that they'll do more for the investigation than Homeland. The idea of the counter conspirators all working covertly is like Jack going rogue to the extreme. Although that dashes the clashes between our heroes and the bureaucratic leaders, the "Us vs. them" dynamic is still there because they aren't far from being detected.

Henderson has topped Gaines as far as best villain is concerned. He is Jack's match: the man who taught him everything he knows about being an agent, including how to get results. Jack would probably be the only other person who would consider severing a person's artery to get what he wants out of someone (granted, Jack would sever a bad guy's artery).

During this scene, it looked like Audrey was going to die. It is rather surprising that Henderson didn't just kill Audrey as soon as he got the evidence, much like he planned to do (and presumably did) to Evelyn. He was shooting at Jack and Audrey stood in between them. Why not finish at least one loose end?

Logan's plan, according to Jack's analysis of the tape, is another example of how well the writers have been making up the story as they go along. It adds to the explanation as to why he insisted on signing the treaty even as the hostage situation was still underway. The treaty helps the "patriots" enact their plan to seize control of oil operations. It's too bad none of Jack's toys include anything that could rip that recording into an MP3 file, but he didn't expect Heller to throat punch him and take control of this operation.

Although we have reason to be outraged at Heller's behavior, he has a good point: Jack's plan is potentially devastating. We know Jack wants to impale Logan with the American flag, but a public outing of this would shake America possibly worse than almost anything we've ever faced. Unfortunately, Heller doesn't allow Jack any opportunity to formulate a back up plan, which costs them their biggest piece against Logan.

That's not to say seeing Heller chew Logan out wasn't a blast to watch: one a man of backbone and true patriotism, the other a spineless weasel using patriotism to justify all the horrible things he's responsible for this day. It's a shame that Mitch Anderson from last season didn't knock off everyone ahead of Heller in line for presidency, but where would the fun in this season be? Heller knocks Logan down several pegs, but not enough for Logan to admit defeat.

The hatred I have for Logan is palpable. Henderson's immaculate timing in getting the recording buys Logan time, and he uses it to turn it against Heller and discredit any thought that he may be hiding something. It comes at a great time, as many of his staff members and Martha are aware that things aren't right for a nation supposedly outside of crisis.

Novick suspects something when the army unit supposedly sent to pick up Bauer is ignorant of any such order. Although he can't peg anything on his boss, Novick knows something is up (how many times do you think he's thought that he betrayed the wrong president?) Even Karen doubts the president with his suspicious reassignment of his special forces to pick up Jack instead of her own, who are far closer. Considering Logan wants Jack arrested for evidence he hasn't given to Karen, she should hopefully act on these suspicions.

Martha is curious, and Logan knows from earlier that can be disastrous, which leads to MIA Aaron, leaving many fans worried. This is especially effective since the show has been ruthless this season. However, I don't think that the worst has happened. Aaron, besides Jack, is the only surviving member of the all 5 seasons club. If Aaron is to die, he deserves an on screen demise. Hopefully Aaron survived and disappeared, only to return at the critical moment when a good guy is about to be killed and save the day.

Logan should've used the Chinese excuse from the onset to get Jack. Now, it seems a little weak considering that Jack has been the lead investigator behind the hunt for the nerve gas. With only a few episodes left, this factor can be a big part to keep the conspiracy from losing steam. Thankfully they haven't forgotten about it, despite not mentioning it most of the season.

With only six episodes left, 24's 5th season hits one of its best episodes of the season. While the major attack may have been averted, the conspiracy and personal stakes are at a personal high. Logan certainly gets the blood boiling, which makes Jack's race to bring him downand save the country, while simultaneously dealing with a major figure in his past, more compelling.

Oh, and that split screen to close the episode was cool.
  • This show is going all over the place storyline wise and this episode is great!

    "Superb"
This episode makes alot situations really difficult with logan and heller, I cant wait to see what the writers have in store for us. Also I hope the vice president does something on the good side. Jack is in a really tough spot as usual, especially with Audrey being hurt and Heller \"backstabbing\" him. In the preview for the next episode we get the feeling that Jack wont trust Heller ever again and we also see that Martha finds out something, wheter or not he told her the truth but, but she freaks out good. Looking forward to it and cant wait!
  • i guessed after last episode that Hellor would expose Logan all of the beginning. That's all right haha, i just want to see how our hero Jack will make Logan's crime to the pubilc~~

a bit late to get here, anyway, 24 took my into the world of U.S TV Series and is always my favourite~~

i guessed after last episode that Hellor would expose Logan all of the beginning. That's all right haha, i just want to see how our hero Jack will make Logan's crime to the pubilc~~

however i felt somewhat confused when the Logan appeared to be the biggest bad guy of the Season 5... Logan was so, er, week at the beginning part of the season and all his acts were too true to believe... and christopher, why he let that woman sold the information to the terrorest... i still cannot feature out the reason. so i hope the remaining episodes will make all these clear~~

  • hmm, I am not sure what to say here!

    8.5
    "Great"
This was a weird episode, weird to the point of why did they not just let Audrey die, she is becoming the eqivilent to Jacks daughter in this series, to reliant on Jack and making the scene very painful to watch, on a lighter note, I am curious onto what has happened to Arron, was he stopped by more of the presidents men!!

Oh and at least Chloe got her pass back, but come on people tell me who would not have noticed that...that was a bit far fetched even for 24!

  • Who learned that we have to trust Jack Bauer? Always?

    9.0
    "Superb"
I learn that. Not Heller... It was a really stupid move, I was sure he would be on Jack's side, but he surprised me.

The episode was very good. Great action, great acting, great storyline, etc. Only two things are bizare: Evelyn and Curtis!! Are they dead or something?? We should have seen Curtis arrived at CTU at least, but nothing... Evelyn and her daughter, is the mother dead? I hope we will learn about them in the next episode.

The high point of the episode was Aaron. He left his phone under the bench, why? Could someone else knew about is meeting? Does Logan have somebody else in the inside? This is a bit confusing.

    Continue on this way 24!
  • More talk this week...

    8.0
    "Great"
Let me start by saying, I may have missed something...but it appears that something may have happened to out buddy Pierce. Though I hope I\'m wrong.

As far as the rest of the episode, it\'s getting a bit slower. More of Jack being chased or chasing somebody, and now he doesn\'t have the tape. Which sticks Heller in a tight spot. And Audrey? Didn\'t I just say a few weeks ago that Jack\'s running short on people he could trust?

And does everybody Jack meet have to die shortly after meeting him? The bank teller, the guy that was with him when Henderson hit...it appears that people only exist to help Jack, and having served that...they die.

That said, the episode did have some strong moments with Heller and Logan. Though again I may have missed something. I\'d like for Logan\'s reasons to run deeper than just oil, but I suppose that everybody occasionally has to fit some \"timeliness\" into it\'s stories. Hopefully they don\'t become a victim to this timliness, unlike some shows I know ;)
  • Another great time with Jack

    9.7
    "Superb"
You just got to love all the action around Jack during another exciting day. I just don\'t want to be with Jack during that day, because most of the people with Jack end up dead. He has as much of a nack of staying alive as the other people do of dying. Some I don\'t care about but some I do, and that is the way the show has always been. If people don\'t die, then you have no suspense. And the one thing 24 has since day one is suspense. Keep it up writers, I love the job you do.
  • Ooo..k, so?

    7.0
    "Good"
Acting and execution wise, fine example of why 24 is so extraordinary compared to other series. Can't say the same for the plot though. 5x17 was edge-of-the-seat staff, but 5x18 disgresses into a preaching of "larger pictures". Heller's larger picture was maintaining of integrity of the Presidency, Logan's was ultimate good for the American citizen, Henderson's was "something larger than Charles Logan". "Large pictures" abounds here and it sort of distract us a while, gives Jack a much needed rest tied together with Audrey after 18 straight hours of running and shooting.

Anyway, Logan is so very desperately covering his track and nothing more, telling more lies to cover previous lies. It would really be the mother of all anti-climaxes if all the shootings, killings, bombings and intrigues end with exposing Logan as the chief culprit. It gives a sense much ado about nothing! I think the writers are better than to let the remaining 7 episodes evolves into Jack's attempts to unveil the less than evil mask of Logan. We have come to expect more of Jack.

My take is there is something much more sinister than what has been shown to us. Henderson must be in cohort with somebody else. Make sense to me. Some one really sinister who is making Logan thinks he is the master-mind who makes Cummings thinks he is the master-mind who makes the Russian guy what's-his-name? thinks he is the master-mind.

In the meantime, come on, let the plot rolls already. One more episode like this will really be testing this fan's patience.
  • I don\\\'t care about the real time. Just keep the plot twists coming.

    9.0
    "Superb"
    A few things stand out:

The throat shot to Jack! Who saw that coming?!

Logan is the biggest weasel in history, and the biggest fabricator of lies. We should call him rubber face as well. Itzkin can make some rather disturbing faces. Just don\\\'t show a prolonged kiss with Martha.

Henderson doing the little trick on Audrey to bleed her dry was classic. You think he might shoot her, or Jack may even. But no he does something a bit more sinister and dirty.

Heller is being forced to resign but some last minute save by Henderson. I don\\\'t see it happening. I think the Prez will go down.
  • 24 One of the better episodes

    "Superb"
This episode was great, the plots are finnaly developing, but dont get me wrong there were plenty of plots at the beggining, with 6 spisodes left, it keeps me wondering what is going to happen. I do have to start to afree with some people who say that the writers are churning up old plots, but its all done in a new style and all in a diffrent setting. Its still one of the only shows around that i find hard to predict, i admit there are a few bits that you can predict, but hey its a TV show and a good one at that. Thats why i watch it and thousands of other people do to. I wouldnt say that it was a waste of 40 minutes,
  • Jack and Audrey seek Senator Heller, but are faced with more than they can handle.

    9.5
    "Superb"
I liked this episode a lot more than the last. Between the confrontation with Henderson and the plot development, the episode keeps the fans wanting for more.

Jack clearly never thought that the senator would react that way, but it makes sense. 'Why would anyone wanting to protect America directly wish to incriminate the president or the presidency?' But that doesn't matter now because Jack was right once again; it was a mistake for Audrey's dad to contact the president at such a crucial moment and force his hand.

I was somewhat confused as to why the senator tied up his daughter allowing her and Jack to be so vulnerable. Yes, Audrey was corroborating with "a fugitive" (Jack), but why not try to have a quick talk with her to change her mind.

The ending was truly another magnificent action scene. It continually amazes me that Jack can shoot a target 30 yards away and hit them. The showdown ("part 1") with Henderson is amazing. C. Henderson is perhaps the greatest diabolical enemy Jack has ever faced. His tactical skill, quick thinking, ingenuity, experience, and ability to plan ahead and anticipate actions of others (especially Jack's) is incredible. However, I believe he is again protecting something/someone, even though he is working for the president.

Next weeks episode looks even better than this episode which appears to show a final showdown with Henderson and perhaps end some of this madness; but Henderson has the tape so he shouldn't be taken down so easily.
  • I can't take this show anymore!!! This is the worse season and I say cancel this show!!!

    6.7
    "Fair"
I mean is it me or a plant seed and try to grow a forest with this plot developments. I mean Audrey was bleeding quarts and she still manages to walk in the middle of the room with blood on her feet and heels while telling Jack not to give up the recording...my my my we must admire her courage in the face of certain death...I half expected her to die like Tony and the rest of the regular cast they butchered this season. I wouldn't be surprised if Aaron was dead as well, this season their pulling out the train and they don't care who is on the tracks. While I'm at it, let's talk about the secret service agent that got shot hiding behind the airplane wheel while Jack is shooting people the second they hop off the enemy helicopter and before they can hit the ground. I tell you you couldn't find marksmanship like that in some of the best gun competitions in the world and he's doing it in the dead of night as well. So the agent gets killed after declaring to help Bauer...just like the bank owner in the last epiosde and look what happened to him!!! I mean is his body still rotting in the back seat of the squad car because that's where Jack and the Dwayne left him...maybe they dumped him on the I-10 on their way to the airport. Oh and how can we forget Jack burning his hand to get the restraints off his wrists...leather restraints!!! I guess handcuffs are old fashioned huh and he was still shooting strait with that hand at the goons outside...AMAZING!!!. Finally, Secetery Helier who was an honorable man has stabbed Jack in the back and now is trying to do the right then and now he's going to be out of the job as well. Jack's done it all, hit people with doors, snap necks between his calves, put a pair of scissors into someones neck...lordy lordy, what will they think of next.
  • Overall, this episode escalates the conflict with some nice twists and turns. Some elements might be considered predictable, and some might feel like nothing happened, but when the writers stick with good story instead of shock value, the season as a who

    8.0
    "Great"
It would have been better to keep the Jack and Wayne Show going for a while longer, but if it brings back Bill Buchanan for some fun and games, who can argue? Jack could use all the help he can get, especially since the screws are being tightened on Chloe at the exact same time. The urgency of the episode is quite nice, because unlike some episodes this season, the events don’t feel manufactured. It’s Logan vs. Bauer, and everything makes sense within that context, since that’s how it should have been from the beginning. (OK, it was, if one accepts the season as presented to this point without cynicism!)

Heller should have been brought in before this point, but now that the game is on, it gives his return that much more heft. Heller is Jack’s most powerful ally, with so many others dead, which once again gives the fourth season more retroactive meaning. He asks the right questions about that recording, but since Heller has dealt with Logan in the past, there’s enough history for the evidence to speak for itself.

Heller’s response is a nice change of pace, because he’s completely right. Unseating the president shouldn’t be a public spectacle. It can’t be a military coup, or for that matter, a coup of any kind. It should be done carefully and quietly. Heller understands that it shouldn’t be public, but he’s smart enough to make sure he doesn’t have the evidence in hand when he confronts Logan on the truth. And of course, it complicates Jack’s personal crusade even more, which is always fun.

Miles is one slimy bastard, but he also knows how to push a person’s buttons. He does exactly what it takes to push Chloe into exposing her methods. Yet all it does is give Logan another chance to demonstrate his inability to keep things in control when things go off plan. Despite having Karen in his back pocket, he keeps giving her orders that conflict. It adds to her existing suspicions, and suddenly Novick is back in play, exposing the weaknesses in the conspiracy. (Where he’s been for the last few hours is an interesting matter of debate.)

This is also the second time that Martha has seen Logan take one of these unexpected phone calls in the apparent wake of the crisis, and it’s just a matter of time before she figures out that something is wrong. The nice thing is that the beginning of the season established that once she gets something into her head, she won’t let it go until she’s satisfied.

The whole Chinese issue finally comes up again, even if it’s only in passing. The confrontation between Logan and Novick is one of the highlights of the episode, especially since it’s clear that Novick isn’t so stupid as to believe that Logan is being open and honest. This is one of the interesting aspects of this final conflict: it’s as much about Logan as it is about Jack. Jack’s not leading the charge, so much as playing a part in something that was probably inevitable.

Chloe’s little escape was way too easy under the circumstances, but at least it gave the writers a chance to use that ridiculous sexual harassment subplot. Any chance to get Chloe in action is a joy to behold. It also seems that DHS security protocols are as pathetic as CTU protocols. Chloe never should have gotten so far for so long! And she certainly shouldn’t have gotten to Bill so easily.

It’s interesting that Logan doesn’t bother to hide his complicity once Heller confronts him. And given the conservative leanings of many on the cast and crew of the series, it’s amazing that Logan’s entire plan was about securing foreign oil interests. Heller’s ultimatum, however, puts Logan in one of those positions where he seems to excel all too well: finding a means of opening up options and shifting responsibility.

Heller’s security detail makes for another nice set of red shirts, and as one would predict, it all comes down to Henderson getting his hands on Audrey and forcing Jack to make a choice. Sure enough, it undercuts Heller’s entire gambit. It gives Logan a nice temporary victory, but there’s one small question that hasn’t been answered. Does Henderson really have the recording, since it was never demonstrated that he played it and knew it was the genuine article? Could Jack have switched it out? For that matter, couldn’t there be a copy by now?

Of course, the obvious question is why Henderson would call Logan without confirming that the only copy of the recording was in hand. He had plenty of time to come gunning for Jack, considering Audrey’s condition. Speaking of Audrey, she’s prime material for another loss for Jack this season, and this takes her one step closer to that. Then again, she’s probably prepared for that sort of thing after being around Jack lately!

With six episodes left, there’s plenty of time for the various players to move and counter as the conflict escalates. This episode was about building the tension to the next level and making sure that the audience saw where the lines were being drawn. All of the players that should be in the game are on the board, and it’s going to be a nasty fight to the finish. As usual, once the season gets to the final turn, a lot of the stupid subplots fall away and the writing tightens tremendously. This episode was a return to form, and a welcome one at that.

  • Not as fast paced as previous episodes but who cares!

After all that has happened so far this season I shouldn't be surprised when something shocking happens but what can I say, I am.

James Heller turned bad or so it would first seem punching Jack of all people in the throat. As it turned out it was only to do a 'quiet' deal with Logan to resign as President.

Logan the lucky son of a gun has more lives than a cat and when it seems that his treachery has finally been discovered his bacon is saved and he turns the situation round to his advantage.

A pretty quiet episode for Jack who finally swung into action in the final five minutes. The recording has gone (along with most of Audrey's blood) but you know it won't be long before it's tracked down and in the right hands again. Especially now Chloe is back in action at Bill Buchanan's house. And thank God Bill is back. James Morrison is awsome and he's the best director of CTU since it all went wrong at the end of season three.

This episode is a nice setup for the remaining six hours and leaves many questions still unanswered. Apart from what will happen regarding the recording I'm interested to know if Audrey will be ok and what has happened to Erin the coolest guy ever to work for Secret Service.

  • Round 1 to Logan. Slow episode brought to life by the showdown between Heller and Logan.

    "Good"
Not so many thrills and spills in this episode as it focuses mainly on the ongoing manhunt for Jack.

President Logan continues to give baffling orders to CTU/Homeland and refuses to lift martial law in LA. Everyone seems to be getting suspicious but no-one seems willing or able to do anything about it.

How did Chloe get out of CTU? Security is as pathetic now as it was before Homeland took over. It's a pity they killed off Tony as he could have joined the rest of the staff at the all-new singing and dancing CTU that's forming at Bill Buchanans house.

It's all down to Aaron Pierce, he is the only one who can get near Logan. The problem is that he knows Logan is involved so he will be targeted after some loose talk from Martha. If he can just stay alive for the next few episodes he may indeed write his name into 24 folklore.

  • Jack gets cooperation from Secretary Heller, but not quite what he'd hoped for. Audrey's injured during the scuffle for Henderson to regain control of the evidence against Pres. Logan. Henderson gets the evidence and leaves, but seriously, with Jack on

This episode left me oddly dissatisfied. Some of the treatment of Jack by Secretary Heller didn't make sense to me, considering the two have worked together before. Heck, Jack was his right-hand-man, so I couldn't understand why Heller was so cold toward Jack. Aaron is missing...which I don't like! They've killed off enough old friends this season, I don't see how it moves the show foward to kill Aaron, although I don't know that he's dead...I guess there's hope he's still with us.

There are just so many things about this episode that seem out of place to me. Heller's behavior toward Jack; Audrey staying at the airport with Jack when 3 seconds earlier her father had insisted she was coming with him; Chloe's escape from holding; And why hasn't Jack made a copy of that recording by playing into his voicemail or SOMETHING?

I have been thinking this is the best season yet of 24 until tonight. I very much hope the writers can redeem these seemingly loose ends. Usually, they manage to make some kind of sense, even if its seems a little crazy. This time, there's too much that doesn't make sense at this point.

I HATE Logan!!!!He\'s getting on my nerves more and more each week.He fooled us for half a season,so why can\'t his wife figure out her husband\'s not who he says he is?The body count reached 90+ last night,by the end of the season it\'ll be more than 100.I seriouslt thought that Secretary Heller would take the recording to the Attorney General, but no why make it easy? How dumb can you get, when Jack threw Henderson the recorder you think he would have checked it to make sure the tape was in it.And how obvious was Chloe\'s pickpocketing of Miles\' access card?If he didn\'t notice that maybe he needs to get a new job.And YAY!!! Bill\'s back.
  • What is up with the Mission Impossible music they are playing on \"24\" now?

I am happy to announce that I actually have an issue with my favorite show. The music that they have decided to play while certain events are going on is CHEESY! Do they feel that the \"24\" audience is too stupid to know what is going on, so they feel the need to over do the music selection so we \"really\" understand what they are about to do?

I love the show. I am happy it was picked up for 3 more seasons. However, they need to sick Jack Bauer on the Music composer. All in all, I am loving this season and I can\'t wait until next week.
  • well sorry to say this but 24 is really starting to get borring. Dragging your feet does not get you good ratings.

Ok this show is getting to where you can tell what is going to happen in the next 40 min from the first 10. The only thing that you don't know with certainty is how exactly are things going to develop. If you ask me this is not a good reason to watch the show. I finished watching this particular episode and has an empty feeling. I just wasted 40+ minutes of my life. Yes there were several good moments ( although I can't really name them off the top of my head ) but over all the show is begging to get canceled. This show started off based on a single ( not too complicated ) idea but seemed to scrape up some stuff for the first couple of seasons. From there on it is just stretching the plot so you can get 24 episodes and another season. The sad part is that even the acting is nothing to brag about. But to be fair it does give me an hour of mindless entertainment every once in a while hoping that the writing staff would come up with some better ideas.

I wouldn't be surprised a tiny bit if 24 does not get signed up for another season.
  • Nothing really happens.

Spoilers ahead, but hardly anything happened so whatever. Jack meets with Heller, who attacks him and tries to handle the situation with the president in his own way. Henderson finds Jack and Audrey, Audrey is taken hostage yet again, Jack trades the evidence for Audrey, Jack screws the country over temporarily.

The whole season was very lacking, one of 24\'s key problems was that they stretched the plot way too much. They introduce characters thay mainly create problems that are just plain annoying and fustrating to watch (Sean Astin\'s character, his sister, logan, martha, Homeland people). The show is using these characters to fill up episodes and to make sure they complete the 24 episode season.
  • Just when you thought the season slowly shifted towards filler episodes...the writers pull a MacGyver on their audience!

    "Perfect"
Just when you think that the fifth season of \"24\" is down to its usual tricks of shifting the audience\'s allegiances around and making them uncomfortable with new characters, there comes an episode that tilts the win slightly towards the good guys, even though everyone understands they still have to jump through many, many flaming hoops, and things still go wrong. I haven\'t seen this kind of coolness this season since episode four.

More to the point: Peter \"RoboCop\" Weller continues with his stellar and cool performance of the behind-the-scenes mastermind Henderson. Heller, who heretofore seemed like a relatively harmless old man, begins to flex his political muscle. Even Mike Novik, (the almost-bad guy of the season when he essentially tried to take then-President Palmer down), comes through with his classy, cool-headed reason and careful strategy. But this is just the tip of the iceberg: Logan, Audrey, Bill, Chloe, Aaron - this episode connects them all beautifully.

You know how a really boring episode with focus on interdepartmental politics feels like it\'s fifteen minutes long? Well, when you watch this one, you\'ll swear it was over an hour and a half - the writers pack that much stuff into it! Bah, but I shouldn\'t say more, for fear of spoiling it. ;)
  • C.T.U manages to trace the location of Jack and Audrey by Chloe. James Heller(Secretary of Defence) takes matters in his own hands when Jack gives him the evidence. President Logan with the help of Christopher Henderson continues his search for Jack and t

It just keeps getting better and better. 24 writers sure have done their homework. I sat on the edge of my seat the entire episode. Some scenes were brilliant. The way Jack got out of the confinement by burning his tape was too good. Also I liked the way Chloe got out. I thought she won't get out this time. Then Christopher's move of slicing Audrey's arm was genius. Somethings were also predictable though. When James Heller was handed over the tape, I could easily predict that he would do something foolish. Who the hell keeps his daughter in a confinement. That was stupid. I guess they just did it because they still have 6 more episodes to go. And ending the climax here itself was just not possible.
