When Jack Bauer takes out his gun and starts ordering people around on a diplomatic flight, one might wonder exactly what the hell was going on in the writers' minds. I might not, however. I might just sit back and enjoy this kickass episode while ignoring any 9/11 undertones that may be present. In fact, I think I'll do just that.
The day doesn't get much easier for other people. Buchanan's brought back to CTU in cuffs while Chloe takes refuge in a hotel bar and encounters a horny drunkard. Two words regarding that latter storyline: HIGH! LARIOUS!!
Actually, the entire episode is pretty damn funny, in both intentional and unintentional moments. Jack hijacks, Chloe keeps the drunkard at bay, Buchanan calls Miles an asskisser, and Martha's pseudo-PMSing all the way. Way too many classic moments to discuss at length in a single review. If I could, I'd cram 'em all under "Hourly Highlight."
Lastly, this could be the most technologically dependent episode of "24" yet. We've got phone calls and patch-throughs up the wazoo, with Graem eavesdropping on pretty much all of them. Which gives you more of an idea on who he is. But not really.

    Hourly Highlight:
Guess I have to pick one at random…
Chloe stunning the drunk guy. With her stun gun, that is.

What I liked -» There is one scene that was funny when Chloe was approached by a guy. The complicated situation in the Baggage Hold. The ending.

    What I Didn´t Liked -» Martha Scenes.

Action - » Don´t expect any action like the previous episodes.

Drama - » (6/10). Wasn´t a episode for drama but they put Martha in reaction mode, and that was like a filler.

Suspense/Tension - » (8/10). The situation in the baggage hold and before that, when Jack took the suspect and was trying to put him inside the Baggage Hold.

    Surprises/Shocks - » (7/10). There is a surprise about the suspect.

Time and Scene Management - » (7/10). The management was good, but you can notice the filler scenes.

Plot Details/Holes- » (7/10). The situation is unreal and all that on the plane was unnecessary, but the writers needed to create a complication.

Beginning - » (7/10). Nothing special here, just the usual.

Complication Phase - » (8/10). Is all about finding the man with the tape in the airplane but things are not what they seem to be. Also there are some complication in there. Jack scenes was the only interesting things, because his situation was complicated.

Climax - » (8/10). Maybe the situation in the Baggage hold Ending - » (8/10). Whoo, the idea for the next episode is great.
  • Trying to control the plain

Jack is on the plain and now it is all about him getting the right person and they do it wrong on the first time - Jack crabs a man who is not involved and soon air marshal gets concious and they know someone is on the plain and it gets all out of control... so many nervous moments there.. Also, the game Karen and Mike Novice are playing.. who gets the truth.. and Mike.. he has seen Martha.. and for me see looks really like in a way to suicide and they gave her the bills.. it was a mistake.. and Mike should already get the clues.. And the whole thing in the plain.. the ending.. so exciting..

This was a good episode, mainly a filler episode for the final 4 episodes to close out the great season. I liked the way Jack handled some of the things on the plane, but it got kind of stale after a while.

Marth Logan and Presidant Logans sceens together were kind of good this go around, with Logan trying to tell martha why he did what he did. CTUs involvment in helping Jack Bauer is sure to come to an end soon, perhaps within the next episode or two. The one guy that keeps asking questions is still on my watch list.

Good episode, there have been better this season.
  • Another good episode to show the blurry line between criminal and hero Jack operates in.

    8.0
    "Great"
This episode, which coincidently aired the same week as the United 93 film release, deals with our hero hijacking a plane to get that vital piece of evidence implicating Logan in the day’s events. Some may believe that is in poor taste, but considering the scheduling, it's doubtful that 24 was aware of when this episode would air and any 9/11 films scheduled for release around that time. Also, the impact of that coincidental airing has been diminished over time (this review is being written January 2007).

It is certainly a lot to consider as Jack has to hijack a plane to get the terrorists. Often Jack resides on a blurry line, often acting like a criminal to prevent a major terrorist attack from happening or in this case, to bring those to justice. This episode brings Jack dangerously close to the negative extreme. It’s surprising more passengers don’t try to turn the tables on Jack.

Given the way Jack is behaving, screaming "people will die", waving a gun around, messing with the plane’s engine, and demanding to get in the cockpit, it's no wonder that the pilot (played by Jean Smart's real life husband) wouldn't want to let him in. He causes turbulence by playing with the He is behaving like a terrorist to foil the conspirators. Of course, it doesn’t help him that he has no idea who he’s looking for, and any of them could be likely candidates until Chloe tells him otherwise.

It is great that Karen is able to keep at least Chloe functioning in the CTU A-Team. I want to see her wheel in a cart with chicken wings, beer and ice cream to interrogate Bill just because it would make Miles even angrier. He'll certainly be mad when he learns that not only did Chloe sneak out, but operated covertly in a hotel bar! If his head doesn't explode by the end of the season I'm going to be disappointed.

Bill is definitely the best CTU head ever, besides when Jack held the position. He, like many members of the cast this season, have gotten plenty of good moments to shine, in this episode protecting Chloe and telling off the weasel Miles are two great examples. It would’ve only been better if he made himself look more disheveled when the CTU agents came to his house.

The drunken jerk at the bar could've blown out into another lame story, but thankfully that storyline was tasered out before it got there. Jack and Chloe are probably the two worst people you could approach at a bar, especially when they are on the job.

Getting Martha her medication, when we saw her start self medicating last episode, is placing her in a very bad situation. Anyone who can read a pill bottle knows mixing alcohol with medication is dangerous, and she was obviously drunk by the end of the episode. It’s no mystery why: she just found out her husband is involved in the conspiracy that’s responsible for all the bad things that have happened, including the murder of someone she cared about.

It is also the realization that their marriage is over, only functioning to keep up appearances. Logan and Martha draw certain comparisons to Palmer and Sherry from the first three seasons. This time the roles are reversed, and this time Logan’s tragic flaw is his obsession with legacy opposed to Sherry’s lust for power. Also Sherry’s association with Kingsley only came after the Palmer’s divorce and her entrenchment with the conspirators wasn’t nearly as active.

While the comparison has been made in this episode between these two first couples, it is hardly a retread. First, because Palmer is what every American (except a racist ignoramus) would want as a president. Logan is the antithesis, a man who is so tragically obsessed with how he’ll go down in the history books that he’ll help orchestrate a terrorist plot to help boost his image. It’s too bad they overdid Sherry and killed her off in season three, because it’d be really interesting to see what she’d be doing with Logan.

The end development, with Graham demanding Logan shoot down the plane, was foreseeable back when they talked about the hostage situation earlier. Had this been paced quicker, Graham would've suggested the plane be shot down, and the episode would've ended with the plane being shot down or not. Although I don't mind seeing it put into two episodes, it could've easily been thrown into one.

The main plot of this episode is an interesting examination of Jack being pushed the edge for the greater good, whereas the B and C storylines appear to be transitional, as repercussions continue throughout these final episodes.
  • This episode was really good!

    "Superb"
Hayes calls Bill to make sure Chloe has gotten away. Bill tells Hayes of Jack’s efforts to board the diplomatic flight and retrieve the recording from Henderson’s confederate. Hayes tells Miles to set up the remote debrief of Chloe in the situation room.

Bill sends Chloe out the back way and tells her to go to a plush hotel nearby. When the team shows up, Bill ruffles his appearance and denies that Chloe was ever there. Hayes orders the team to bring Bill in to CTU for questioning. This confuses Miles, who believes they would be more effective interrogating Bill in his home.

Chloe enters the hotel bar and tries to be inconspicuous as she sets up her computer. She asks Hayes to put the flight manifest in a place where she can access it. Chloe calls Jack and tells him that it will take a few minutes to cross check all names on the passenger list against Henderson. Jack asks Chloe to get him the seat number of the air marshal. Once he has it, he moves through the plane and sits next to the marshal. After distracting his attention, Jack knocks him out and takes his gun.

Chloe calls Jack and gives him the name of the man who matched up against Henderson, Hans Meyer. Jack goes to the man and tells him that he needs to identify an item that they found belonging to him. As they head back toward the galley, Jack slugs him and drags him into the baggage compartment.

Martha asks the Secret Service guarding her to get her more meds. When he refuses, Martha calls Mike to come over. She asks him to get them for her, but he wants to know what it troubling her. Martha says she just wants something to calm her down, but Mike is suspicious.

Graham calls Logan for an update, but Logan says they still haven’t found Jack. Mike tells Logan of Martha’s request for more meds. Mike demands to know what’s going on if it involves national security. Logan tells Mike that he and Martha are just having personal problems with their marriage, and that they both realize that it is just a façade that will have to be continued for the duration of his presidency. Logan refuses her the pills at first, but then tells Mike to go ahead and get them for her.

Jack searches Meyer, but can’t find the recording. Meyer denies that he has any such recording, so Jack makes him search through his bags for it.

A drunk starts bothering Chloe as she continues to work, but she brushes him off.

The plane hits some turbulence as the captain orders all passengers to their seats. They notice Meyer’s seat is empty and the air marshal has been attacked. The captain orders his copilot to call in and get a route for an emergency return to L.A.

Mike brings Martha more meds. He tells her that he knows both she and her husband are covering something up. He tries to get her to open up, but she stays silent.

Jack searches Meyer’s bag, but doesn’t find the recording. Chloe calls jack and tells him that Meyer can’t be the guy, because he was clearing himself through customs at the time that Henderson passed off the recording. The plane starts to turn around and Jack knows he’s been discovered. The air marshal knows they are hiding in the baggage compartment and orders the captain to depressurize the baggage room. As the air begins to thin, Jack calls Chloe and tells her to patch him through to the pilot.

The drunk starts bugging Chloe again as she works. She invites him to sit down, then stuns him with a tasar as Hayes opens a line for Jack.

Jack talks to the captain and tells him that he’s a federal agent and that there is a dangerous man on board. The captain refuses to restore air pressure to the baggage area. Jack breeches the altitude controls and causes the plane to dive. He orders the captain to restore air pressure, or he’ll crash the plane. A flight attendant opens the hatch and Jack locks the air marshal in the baggage hold. He then pulls his gun on the passengers and orders them all to stay seated. Jack calls the captain and orders him to stay in a holding pattern so he can search all of the passengers, but the captain refuses and says he’ll land the plane when they arrive at the airport.

Logan calls Graham and tells him that jack has hijacked the plane. Graham tells Logan to order the plane grounded and to grab Bauer before he can release the recording.

Chloe updates Hayes on the hijacking. Miles tries to get answers out of Bill as he is brought in. “You have no idea what you’re dealing with you little ass-kisser,” Bill growls at Hayes orders him to be taken to a holding room. Miles calls Mike and questions the choices that Hayes is making in dealing with Bill’s interrogation. Mike says he doesn’t want to second guess her because it’s a sensitive situation and they’re dealing with one of their own.

Hayes disables the monitoring equipment in the holding room. She tells Bill that she will continue to help Jack, but until she sees the evidence against Logan, she’ll remain skeptical. Logan calls Hayes and orders her to tell the pilot to land the plane irregardless of any threats that Jack is making. Logan wants Jack brought in dead or alive and will have his own Secret Service detail do it once the plane is grounded. Bill tells Hayes that they have to buy Jack more time so he can find the recording, but Hayes doesn’t have the authority to keep the plane from landing.

The drunk starts to wake up, so Chloe nails him again with the tasar. She discovers that the copilot was replaced at the last minute by a new man. Chloe calls Jack and tells him that the copilot must be the guy because he used to fly for Henderson’s company.

Jack calls the captain privately and tells him that the copilot is the man, but the captain doesn’t want to hear it. The captain hangs up and asks the copilot why he was replaced at the last minute. The answer he gets is vague. The captain fakes a cramp in his leg so the copilot will take the controls. The captain goes to let Jack into the cockpit. The copilot knocks him out, but Jack is inside. Jack forces the copilot to hand over the recording, then orders him to land the plane. He calls Chloe and tells her to advise CTU that he has the recording.

Martha calls Logan and appears to be over-dosing on her meds. He has no patience for her babble and hangs up on her. Graham calls Logan and tells him that Bauer is in control of the plane and has the recording. He tells Logan that he’ll have to shoot down the plane so the evidence will be destroyed!

This was a really good episode of Season 5!
  • I honestly love this series, but what I don\'t get is why Jack doesn\'t just play the damned recording over the phone so they\'ll know for sure he is not lying. It\'s a secure line, isn\'t it ?!

I honestly love this series, but what I don't get is why Jack doesn't just play the damned recording over the phone so they'll know for sure he is not lying. It's a secure line, isn't it ?!

Everyone again is covertly teaming up to help Bauer out, Chloe's got a nice big part in it, I laughed out loud at her tazering the guy in the bad !

I think the presidents wife will cause some problems in the future ( There are too many loose ends lying around and we can not afford to have her pull on one and unravel it all)and Mike also is onto him.

The president really sinks deeper and deeper..

Poor Audrey, did her dad really die in the crash ? If not he's very likely seriously injured..

Can't wait for the next episode, there is a way to prevent the plane from being shot out of the air but I am very curious as to what plan they thought out for that !
  • Jack Bauer + Plane Jacking = Quite Suspenseful

    8.9
    "Great"
The show started off great with Jack Bauer getting inside the plane. First Lady Martha Logan still feeling traumanized by the President's plan was great. Jack Bauer owning the US Air Marshalls and getting the wrong guy was suspenseful. Chloe tazering a drunk guy was hilarious. Something tells me there might some sort of connection between Buchachanon and Hayes. Someone actually giving orders to the President what to do when situation goes wrong is quite wondering. The only major flaw of the episode was the fact that the pessenger didn't attack Jack Bauer when he threatened the pessengers. Nowadays, if the plane was being hijacked, most likely, pessengers will team up and jump the hijacker, but it wasn't that bad, because this is television it's not suppose to be realistic! And also, will somebody PLEASE kill Miles or atleat fire him! He's one of the most annoying characters ever! I hope Hayes puts him out of his misery. It still raises a couple of questions like who are the guys President Logan keeps calling? I'm sure we'll find out later in the episode. Anyways, next episode, OH NOES!!!!!!!11 The President tries to shot down the plane!

Chloe's a beast (i mean in a good way!) she just like always smart and stuff my fav. part....

Ross: Hey, what ya got - a little voice over ip going on there?

    Chloe: Please leave me alone.

Ross: No, seriously, I can help. I know a way for you to get some free bandwidth.

    Chloe: Really?

    Ross: Absolutely!

    Chloe: Sit down!

Ross: Cool. Wow, nice piece. Never seen one of these before, what is that?

(Chloe zaps Ross with a stun gun. Ross passes out.)

    Chloe: It's a CTU series 4.

    i mean wow!!!this show rocks!!!
  • Jack, with Chloe's help, tries to identify the man on board the plane who has posession of the recording.

    9.0
    "Superb"
As Day 5 winds down to it's final hours, Jack Bauer is still desperately looking for that single piece of evidence implicating President Charles Logan in the assassination of David Palmer. Chloe escapes from Bill's house, while Homeland agents under Karen’s orders take Bill into custody. This makes Miles suspicious because the field agents are trained interrogators, and feels Karen is wasting time by bringing Bill in. Karen brushes off Miles, saying she wants to handle Bill herself. Chloe gets the plane info from Karen and passes along to Jack the Air Marshal’s seat number. Jack immediately finds an empty seat next to the guy, and with a quick elbow jab to the face, knocks him unconscious. Fortunately, everyone around was asleep and didn't catch this. These diplomats must have had one hell of a long day since so many had already fallen asleep within the first ten minutes of the flight. Jack takes the Marshal's gun and badge, and passes himself off as the Air Marshal to a German guy that Chloe believes to be the man Jack is looking for. After doing one of his classic sleep-holds on the guy, Jack drags him under the plane back to the luggage compartment for a little Q&A.

Back at the President's retreat, Mike is growing increasingly suspicious after Martha, who is desperate for her pills, lets something slip that makes him sense she is covering something up. When Mike brings his concern to the President, Logan dismisses her behavior as problems they are having with their marriage. He obviously doesn't buy this. Mike better watch it with all these questions before he ends up like Aaron Pierce (wherever he is).

After repeatedly questioning and threatening the German diplomat to no avail, Jack gets a call for Chloe that this may not be the man they're looking for after all. Back up in the main cabin, the flight attendant notices that the diplomat is missing, and the Air Marshal has been assaulted. After a process of elimination, the Marshal pinpoints Jack's location as down in the baggage hold. The pilot also proceeds to make a quick emergency turn around, and just to complicate matters even further for Jack, decides to depressurize the cargo that Jack and the German guy are in. Jack manages to get patched through to the pilot by way of CTU (Karen) and informs him that he is a federal agent and so on, but the pilot doesn't believe him and refuses to release Jack or restore pressure to the cargo. Jack then takes his trusty knife, and pulls the ceiling above him open, exposing several wires. He yanks on them with a belt, causing the plane to dive in all different directions. After a few more seconds of this, the pilot caves and lets Jack back on board. Jack then begins to search all the passengers, one by one, with, as always, the threat of time racing against him as the pilot tells him he is going to land the plane within minutes.

Finally, after zapping some loser trying to hit on her unconscious for the second time (that can't be good for the guy's heart), Chloe finds the answer she's looking for. The co-pilot was a last minute replacement and had history of working with Henderson. Problem is the door to the cockpit is securely shut. Jack calls the pilot up and makes it to where only he can hear Jack, and informs him that the man next to him is the guy he is looking for. The pilot finds this ridiculous and hangs up on Jack. However, when he questions his co-pilot as to why he was replacing the normal guy, he gets suspicious when the co-pilot does not have a good answer for that. In an attempt to open the cockpit door, the pilot fakes a cramp in his leg and dives for the door. Co-pilot reacts quickly and knocks him out with his flashlight, but not before the pilot unlocks the door and Jack Bauer charges in, knocking co-pilot to the ground with a punch, gun pointed in his face. "Now you don't strike me as a man who's willing to die for Christopher Henderson. Give me the recording." That's all it took for the man to reach his shaky hands inside his shirt pocket and give Jack the evidence he needs. Finally, the recording is in Jack's hands and the President is going to answer for his crimes. Oh, wait, there's still four more hours left...

Back at the retreat, a pilled up and liquored up Martha calls Charles and asks for an explanation to help her understand why her husband, who she believes to be a good man at heart, would do something so unspeakable. Before he can answer, Logan gets another call and hangs up on Martha. It's the leader of the Bluetooth group, who says they somehow picked up a call between Chloe and Karen Hayes. Damn, these so called "secure" lines really aren't very secure at all, are they? Cummings and Nathanson tapped into Mike and Jack's "secure" call earlier, and now this guy Graham is tapping Chloe and Karen's call. Anyways, he informs the President that Jack now has the recording. Graham, in so many words, orders the President to shoot down the plane, unless he is cool with going to prison for murder and treason. Logan hangs up the phone. The music builds up to a high pitch and you know it's coming...

    2:59:57...2:59:58...2:59:59...3:00:00

A pretty good hour, with lots of questions that need answering by the time 7 AM rolls around. Will the Chinese come back into play? Is Heller "Officially" deceased? Where is Aaron Pierce? Will Logan actually shoot down that plane next hour? Will Curtis ever manage to drive anywhere without taking two hours to get there? I swear my grandma drives faster than that guy. So once Henderson is brought back into CTU, they will have Bierko, Collette, and Henderson all under one roof. That should be interesting. Maybe Henderson can explain exactly why he provided Collette with the gas plant plans in the first place if he's this big "patriot" who was never working to hurt Americans. And as for Mike Novick, as "25th Ammendment" happy as he's been is the previous seasons, where is he with it when we need it? Ah well, I'm confident Mike will pull through and save the day in the end. That is, unless Logan has one of his Secret Service agents take a "walk" with him first.
  • Fasten your seatbelts, it's gonna be a bumpy ride! Is there any other kind when Jack's around? Exciting, riveting, and addictive. This show keeps getting better and better. Jean Smart is brilliant as Martha Logan. Chloe is DA-BOMB! Zap him again Chloe! LO

Brilliant episode that takes you on one helluva ride. Just when you think it's okay to breathe, you hold your breath again. Jack makes you do one thing, bite your nails! This episode endears Chloe to you and you really want to help her zap that jerk again and again. You go girl!
  • Uncomfortable viewing.

While nothing in the world of 24 should be regarded as silly I think Jack hijacking the plane is close to the line (not quite jumping the shark though). I know Jack has done some sick stuff in his life but even for him this was a bit much. While there is no doubt as to which side Jack is really on, we must remember that he doesn't even work for CTU and yet he enjoys carte blanche to act however he pleases. The lines between terrorism and counter-terrorism are very blurry indeed.

Imagine you are the pilot and you learn that an unknown gunman has rendered the marshall unconscious, stolen his gun and is holding a passenger hostage in the cargo hold. What would you do? What you would NOT do is let the man into the cockpit just because he is using a CTU channel to broadcast so he must be telling the truth. Bloody rediculous. I'm on Logan's side now, shoot that plane down Mr President.

What does Jack have in that bag? 20 episodes later and he is still holding onto it. Must be something important.

This show moslty owns my life on Monday nights. I had just moved into a new place. I had been up literally for 34 hours straight. I get home from work, and I should have gone to bed, but no. I had to watch 24. This season is really keeping me on the edge of my seat. I love it so much, I wish I had waited until fall to get the DVD set of this season, so I wouldn't have to wait to find out what happens next. However, on the flip side, it really makes those long Mondays end with a plus. Jack is being his good old fashion bad a$$ self this season. To sneak into a plane, and then sneak into the passenger area, to knock out the air marshall, kidnap a guy, and do all this without being seen. Come on...who would not want to be Jack Bauer?
  • My Favorite Episode

I never thought the pilot would be the terrorist and now The president is going to use his executive powers to shoot the plane down thats crazy I can\'t wait intill next weeks episode. This episode Is one of the best. When Jack go the Recording back from the co-pilot I Yelled out loud Yeah Kick his ass Jack LOL. Well its 24 i\'m not going to stay quiet. This episode has to be my favorite one. But what happened to Bierko??? Karen hasn\'t been talking much about him lately I dont know what to expect next only 4 more episodes left. 3 weeks left tho may 22nd is the 2 hour finale :( I don\'t know what i\'m going to do during the summer

Super counter-terrorist agent Jack Bauer takes a few folks on a refresher course of what to do if you "Don't know Jack"

1-Even if you are an air marshal, place your hands where Jack can see them, quietly tell him the location of your badge and gun, then hand them over -- ssslllloooowwwly. Otherwise, you'll soon have your jaw wired shut while the break heals and need rotator cuff surgery. And, that means you got off light!

2-If you hold an incriminating piece of evidence, just give it to Jack before he spanks you and takes it anyway.

3-The man-bag, as carried by Jack, is cool. 'Nuff said.

4-If you are a woman on a plane and Jack searches you for evidence, just be grateful and don't try to make him searh harder. And, leave the giggle and hair toss for someone else. Jack isn't impressed by airheads.

If you don't know Chloe, here's a tip: Loser drunks at the bar are more likely to end up with a new perm and a couple of burn marks, rather than a phone number. And, I don't EVEN want to think what she'd do if you lie about being married.

If you don't know Bill Buchanan, and you happen to be a slimy little brown-noser like Miles -- get ready to be outed for being an a$$-kisser.

SPOILER ALERT -- If you think you've seen the last of Secretary Heller, guess again. He returns next ep, vowing to make Logan pay for more than having his car pulled out of the river and getting it detailed.

    Good episode,

A very good episode, jack hijacks a plane and tried to convince the pilot not to land the plane until he has searched all of the passangers but it comes to light that the person in control of the recording is the CO pilot, Explosive and absouloutly amazing developments in this episode, with logan's only choice at the end to blow the plane out of the along with the recording that implicates him, Meanwhile Bill has been takien in and miles starts to question the actions that are made by karen hayes, The next few episodes will be the best of the series, hopefully!!
  • Extremely enjoyable viewing, whilst it may not progress the plot in terms of what we don\'t already know it was a well written and crafted episode with great action sequences.

Not that much happened this episode but it was VERY enjoyable. Jack\'s thinking on the plane was great, emerging from the baggage area finding Hans and dropping him down there. His dialogue was just great and he acted the part of a man who would shoot everyone so well.

Chloe was pure comedy gold this episode and her part was enjoyable too, what she was doing was actually followable through her phone calls to various indiviuals. Bill had a great line and is finally emerging as a good character. Next episdoe it looks like Jack works with the co-pilot to land the plane before Logan blows them out of the sky. How can Logan get away with it!? Either way it all looks to be very exciting and emotional stuff.

I have no idea how this Season will end, how Henderson\'s, Bierko\'s, Karen\'s, Waynes, Chloes, Mikes, Aarons, Audrey\'s, Martha\'s, Jack\'s, Grahams and Logans storylines will finish. Theres almost too many for just 4 episodes. Easily the second or third best season for me, so many things have happened and the story\'s brilliant.

Looks to me D5 is going to conclude with Jack exposing a rogue President. I'd hoped for more, but with only 4 more hours, I am going to suspense all logic and stop demanding clear plot designs so that I can enjoy what's remaining of an exciting series - no matter how far fetched it has gone. For those still demanding plot logic, may I advise the same - 24 is exciting because it challenges the norm and still make itself credible. No matter how incredilous the plot (Chappells execution, Jack's covert virus-plan, and now a rogue President and a whining one at that!), the producers have made them all so palatable. The plot may be thin, but the actions always come thick for 24. The heroes and heroins admirable and the villains are vile. I would watch 24 for its adrenalin pumping actions and emotional sequences, anytime.

It was an exciting plane hijack scene - with the usual Jack Bouer ingenuiness at overcoming the odds - usually with a lot of help from CTU network. I am glad Jack is not portrayed as a omniscient being capable of anything - it was Chloe's sharp instinct in zeroing on the co-pilot, complementing Jack's field-smartness that help to recover the recording.

Otherwise, nothing much else happened in terms of plot development. For example, we still don't know what the yuppies want and how they motivate Logan to under take such a devious scheme...

It is painful to watch Martha's agonies. Could we move on already - at it does not appear that the writers are going to use the character as plot device (except a hint of romantic involvement with Aaron) Let's have more screen time for Wayne, Audrey, Aaron, Chloe, Bill and even Helen.
  • OH MY GOD

Well for one thing it was special: as we did not as usual saw alot of development but damn it-it was good!! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, it was really well directed and put together: for once there was a time i truly asked myself how was he going to pulled this one! Plus this episode had one of the thing I though I missed this season: more of Baeur: I mean he was there a long time. And boy did he made so nice moves: first I love how he took care of the Marshal since he had to do it subtle. And the way he made his point clear to the pilot when playing around with the plane's balance

I'll stop here, but it was one of the most exiting 24 ever from the start to the end!
  • Jack's a f*ckin ba*tard, but one that we all love because he WILL do WHATEVER it takes to get the mission done!!!

A fine example of an episode of 24, in which we get to see Jack threatening a flight full of people by saying he will kill them if they dont listen to him - but ofcourse we know he WOULDN'T do that.

The scenes in the plane were great. The obvious connection (between Henderson) didn't happen to be the right one but when the right guy is found it felt good to have Jack coming out on top. (There was that moment I thought it was the guy who said, "what's going on?", when the marshal woke up, that Jack was looking for. But it was good to be wrong :) )

    Hayes helping Buchanan.

Well, I saw that one coming from the beginning. I mean she wasn't that keen on taking over CTU when she arrived. She was pretty apprehensive. She saw and understood what Jack, Audrey, Buchanan and the others CTU had achieved and didn't feel right that she should take over just yet. She just got pushed, no convinced, into it by Miles (the ba*tard).

    Miles going behind Hayes.

Miles is a character we like to hate. He was annoying and stupid(?) to begin with but now he's become(/ing) a key character in 24. He's like the guy Jack shot in the head in Season 3 (or was it 2?). We now have a character we can all hate. But he's not a bad guy, but someone who is trying to good but is not "in with the crew" yet!!! He has a good future (unless he get killed by Jack or someone else). He may even get to be in the next Season.

    Chloe out on the field.

Its good to see Chloe out and about in LA. She didn't get to do that (a lot) in the previous seasons. But this season has been great for her just as its been for Jack in all seasons. I'm hoping the guy bugging her at the bar is not another 1 time on screen character (like the bank manager, and one of Hellers security guards), thats going to die in the next episode. But then it would be stupid to have him be a bad guy who's been tracking Chloe from the beginning!!!

... and how did the 'company', did they listen in on the conversation between Chloe and Hayes? The mystery deepens.

I think there may yet be another mastermind even BEHIND the company. Sort of like Blofeld from the James Bond movies...........or maybe not!!!

I'll wait till the next episode for the Logan to try and take down the plane and failing miserably... or by Hayes disobeying the order from Logan and goes and rescues Jack.
  • Chloe escapes to a nearby hotel bar/lounge area, where she figures out who is carrying the evidence on the plane. Jack takes control of the plane, seizing the co-pilot (who has the evidence).

This episode was great. Highlites for me were when Chloe tazered the man in the bar--more than once. :P I also enjoyed when Jack elbowed the air marshal in the face and knocked him out. His martial arts and fighting skills are so incredibly graceful, I can\\\'t help but think of the song: Jack be nimble, Jack be quick!
  • Something that is very origional and never seen on 24

I found this episode to be very unique to the 24 series. We have never seen anything like this before in this show, so kudos to the writers for keeping it interesting.

I did however find this episode to be slower than previous ones this season. It was one of those transition episodes to clear up the plot. Jack hijacking the plane and finding the evidence was suspenseful, but the rest of the episode was mostly used tie up some lose ends. Mike was trying to find out what the **** is going on with Logan, and Karen starts to help out Bill and Chloe.

All in all, a good episode, but I wasn\'t on the edge of my seat at all.
  • Jack Bauer gets on the flight where the recording of President Logan is and searches through the passangers for it. Chloe O'Brian escapes from the clutches of the field team sent to find her as Karen helps Jack and Chloe. Mrs. Logan almost lets Mike know

Jack taking over a plane.....awesome! He sure knows how to get his way! I think Mike is going to dig deep because he is suspicious about Mrs. Logans strange attitude, not sure if something will happen to him or not, he's been on 24 since season one. One of the longest characters on the show still alive. Chloe is awesome! She shocked that guy annoying her, that was funny. He tried to wake up and she shocked him again! Jack should have gotten on the phone and played the recording so that Karen would hear it and trust them.

  • Jack is an immortal badass.

No one stops Jack Bauer. This episode is just another example. He manages to get around every single person and obstacle on the plane. When Jack retrieves the recording you can't help but get a chill down your spine in excitement.

Chloe adds the comic relief in the show which is something 24 is great at.

Overall the season has been very up and down, but still exciting none-the-less.
  • Jack's on a Plane Featuring Chloe' taser and that little a$$ kisser Miles

Another great episode of 24, definitely not as great as its going to be next week. This week, Jack was on an diplomatic flight trying to locate the recording that implicates the President that was handed off by Henderson (where is he by the way?). Chloe is able to get out of Bill's House before the Tac team arrives and gets to a hotel where she is hounded by a drunk, great scene, he gets tazed...twice. Jack elbows the air marshal and captures the wrong passenger before being told that it was the co-pilot that had the recording. Jack storms the cockpit and regains the recording again. Logan finds out and Graham tells him the only way for Logan to avoid any legal action that will come from the recording being released will be avoided if he shoots down the plane. This sets the stage for a wild episode next week.
  • Overall, this episode was a bit more transitional than one would expect at this stage of the game, but there were some definite high points. It’s always good when the writers let the basic theme of the series take hold for a while.

    "Good"
Right from the beginning, the chess game continues. It’s a little odd that Chloe would question Bill’s sacrifice play, but she does have that innate loyalty to those who demonstrate trustworthy behavior. It’s not clear why the DHS personnel wouldn’t be watching the back of the house to see if Chloe was escaping. Then again, it took forever for Karen to come around to the truth, so why should the rest of DHS be any smarter?

It’s always fun to watch Chloe operate in the field. Leave it to Chloe to run rings around national security in the middle of a hotel lounge! Then again, Jack is demonstrating how easy it is to hijack a plane, so maybe it isn’t that much of a surprise, after all. One is left with the fervent hope that the real air marshals are made of sterner (and more intelligent) stuff.

Logan’s decision to keep Martha from her medication is actually rather clever. If there’s a quick and easy way to remove Martha from the board, it’s letting her own documented psychological issues take her down. Enlisting Novick was a risky move; then again, Martha doesn’t seem to do anything half-heartedly. Even if her desire to take medication is sincere, getting Novick to retrieve the medicine is an easy way to push him in the right direction.

This situation does raise a good point. If Novick is Logan’s Chief of Staff, how did he manage to leave Logan so far out on his own? If anyone is in a position to uncover the truth about the conspiracy with the oil magnates, it’s Logan’s Chief of Staff. Novick would effectively be running the country while ensuring that Logan was focusing on the major issues; very little should be getting past him. If anything, he ought to be noticing that information is being kept from him, even if he doesn’t know what it’s all about. At least he comes around in short order once his suspicions are aroused.

Of course, it can’t be easy for Jack, so he runs into two complications. Turbulence exposes the fact that the air marshal was assaulted and a passenger is missing. And everything suggests that he got the wrong man in the first place. By this point, the general direction of the rest of the episode is more than a little apparent. Chloe needs to race against time (and the libido of an annoying guest character) while Jack deals with the consequences of being caught. Chloe’s solution is absolutely priceless!

Jack’s tactics are a bit more complicated. Despite his best efforts, he cannot get the pilot to believe his story. Frankly, that makes a lot of sense, especially since Jack’s response to this complication must seem an awful lot like terrorism. Since one of the usual themes of “24” is the strained morality of a counter-terrorist agent and how both sides use similar means, this shouldn’t be surprising. Certainly the passengers look at Jack as if he’s a terrorist.

Unfortunately, all of this serves to expose Jack’s location to Logan and his handlers. That puts Karen in an even more compromised position. Thankfully, Miles chooses to contact Novick, who is already suspicious of the overall situation as it is. Not surprisingly, Jack manages, in the final moments of the episode, to get the recording and effective control of the plane.

Of course, that’s not necessarily the best position to be in, since the conspiracy is aware of his location and has every resource to eliminate him. The question is whether or not Jack’s growing list of allies can do something to prevent the plane from being taken down. Novick would be the man in the right position, especially in tandem with Gardner, but it may come down to something a lot simpler than that. If Martha has overdosed (and it sounds possible, given her last scene in the episode), then it might come down to Logan’s regard for his wife’s survival.

Frankly, it would be a nice touch if the entire success of the conspiracy comes down to Logan’s relationship with his wife. It would almost be a hint of advanced planning. Unfortunately, the producers have once again expressed how incredibly awesome it is that they wing the entire season. That said, the restraints of the end of the season are enough to force the story into the right mode.

This was a relatively simple episode, but it got the job done. The pieces continue to shift on the board. It wasn’t the most subtle use of the general “24” theme in the world, but it was fun to watch Jack play terrorist for a little while. And any time Chloe gets to deliver a bit of quick justice is a good time indeed!

  • Plenty of Action

There is plenty of Action still to come before this 24 hours is over. This episode did not advance the story all that much. They just had time to deal with Jack and the airplane. He did find the tape and secure it, but only after wasting time with the wrong suspect (oh no). It will be an exciting last 4 hours as they race against time to expose the president and his master plan. Go get um Jack.
  • The presidential story line proceeds and teasers for the story behind it continue.

    "Superb"
This was yet another wonderful episode of 24. The show continues to deliver on multiple story lines. It seems that there is a story behind the presidential story that is just starting to reveal. I also am really fond of the 24 episodes in a row that fox is doing with this season. Between this show and Prison Break they are pretty much locking up a bunch of important demographics.

I am very happy that some of the homeland security people are doing the right thing but I foresee a number of them being corrected sometime soon. Chloe’s character development is coming along quite well with her subduing a problem person numerous times. I am starting to like her character more and more as time goes on.

Not many more episodes coming so things should start to wrap up soon. All in all a great viewing experience.

  • United 93...24 style...which would make it United 24.

This week on United 24. I mean...24. My friends and I kept joking about how people on United 93 would attack 3 or 4 terrorists with guns on a plane but NOBODY (except one douche who thought he could run halfway across the plane and try to surprise Jack) did anything against one man...correction...one god with a gun. Take that!

    Great Parts:

    - Jack covertly taking out people on the plane. It was hilarious. Elbowing people. It was great. Once Jack was out in the open with the gun and waving it around, the tension really started.

    - Chloe + taser = hahaha.

    - Buchanan. He really showed a side to him that we have never seen before. Smart Azz, Buchannan. His remarks to Miles was priceless.

    - Novick. Mike is really starting to become important and once he finds out, **** is going to hit the fan.

    - Martha Logan. Great character moments with her. It\'s gonna be awesome.

    Okay Parts:

    - Chloe screwed up the guys. It was a little \"filler\" for the episode but she got the guy wrong which I found it unlike her.

    - The \"old\" pilot guy trying to be nonchalant but not succeeding. Anyone who is anyone would have known he was digging for imformation.

    Overall, strong episode.

    ** 1/2 out of **** Jacks.

  • Jack takes over an airplane in order to find the recording.

Well I didn’t cringe as much as I had the week before. However besides Jack taking over the airplane, it seemed that the writers are stuck. It seemed more like a filer episode. We still don’t know who the bald guy is, or where the hell Palmer is (I’m assuming he left Bill’s house a while ago). We didn’t even see Audrey or Hendricks being interrogated at CTU.

Of course, there were some positive points. Those few who are suspicious are yet still skeptical without any evidence. I loved Chloe zapping that guy (poor girl never does have much luck with men).

Yet like the week before, there were many negative points for me. I was hoping that Mrs. Logan would try to expose her husband or try to figure out what really happened to Aaron. Instead she spent the whole hour drinking and popping pills (anyone else besides me think she isn’t going to wake up from her “nap”?) I suppose the writers will not extend on the possible romance between Agent Pierce and the First Lady. Also, four hours isn’t much time to answer a lot of questions, such as:

Where is Aaron? (Please, let him live!)

Who the hell is the bald guy?

How Logan did discover that Palmer contacted Evelyn? (I’m still betting it is one of the secret service men)
