  • Go for broke

Now on to a brief reprieve from the Bauer Family (i.e. focus on the actual threat), and it's about the greatest reprieve you could hope for. Intense, outrageously violent, and just plain fun. The first act revolves around an exhilarating car chase—only instead of two cars, it's a car and a helicopter. Can it get better than THAT, dammit?!Action-wise? Not really. Torture-wise? We got the goods! It's no secret that "24" makes a big spectacle out of torture, but… I don't have a rebuttal; all I can say is, graphic televised violence is fun, and as Fayed inflicts various injuries on Morris, the evilness (if no other aspect) of his character sure is fleshed out.The goings-on in DC aren't too shabby either. Aside from the biggest pro (no Sandra), Assad arrives for a one-on-one with Wayne. And we see the full berth of Lennox's potential villainy as he agrees to cooperate with Reed Pollock's plan to remove Wayne from office. A coup? No, a [insert dull euphemism here]!After three hours of showcasing Jack's family, this episode was needed. The hunt for the suitcase nukes progresses a step, and despite a certain Marwanian escape, we're still treated to action and tension that bring the hour up so many notches. If your pulse doesn't pound at least a little during the climactic countdown sequence (so what if we know Jack won't die?), stay away from me.Hourly Highlight:Now that's what I call a fire drill! Huh? Huh?moreless
  • can sometone please explain the excape

Please can someone explain how the heck Fayid escaped??!!It made absolutly NO SENSE with all the cops around!! And the fact that he set the bomb to go off in THREE minutes....Fayid would have still been to close..when the explosion happened! There were other unlogibal "mistakes"

Another one was when the car went under the underpass....and they got away..geess where were the "other" helipotors etc!

24 is my favorite show and I've been very disappointed in some of the writing. So please can someone explain how the heck fayid got out when cops were at ALL the doors. Thanksmoreless
  • Exciting some parts, others slow..

Again, this episode had some contra versa - there were some really good action and emotions - Morris and that woman, she making her decision and then taking off. Morris not working with them first and the measure the they used to make him work - so he does programm it and now they have it - and three bombs.

Also, Jack and one of the nuke was good part but there some slow moments.. I most say I did not enjoy almost no storylines going on in White House.. the resigning and then not.. the president and all his talk - I do not know.. it is not working...moreless
  • Jack leads CTU's search for Morris and Fayed. Hassad arrives in Washington DC for a meeting with President Palmer. Fayed uses brutal methods to get Morris to do the job he was brought to him for. Morris caves in and arms the remaining nukes.moreless

I believe that DB Woodside does a good job in his role as Wayne Palmer (Dennis Haysbert was excellent as Wayne's brother. Woodside is just good). However, I feel that his dialouge is too preachy and contrived. Palmer's meeting with Fayed is a good example of that. That is something I have not seen in previous seasons with any of the actors who have played the President on this show. The highlight of this episode is the search for Morris and Fayed as well as the exciting conclusion to this episode. It's a flawed episode, but an exciting one also.moreless
  • Jack does everything to find Morris...

This episode is as adventurous and thrilling as its predecessors...Jack goes in search of Darren McCarthy, the one that is holding Morris hostage...Morris tries to convince the girlfriend of Darren to release him... Unfortunately, she decides to dispose of McCarthy and take him to Fayed personally..Fayed tortures him and finally convinces him to build a device to program the bombs...Jack and CTU are there on time to avoid the bomb being detonated and manage to kill the team of Fayed, though Fayed escapes ... Jack saves Morris but he's amazed to find out that Morris really built a device that can be used...Tom wants to resign as advisor to the President, but renounces at the last minute...He does find out of an attempt to change leadership, and remove the President from office.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Jayne Atkinson (Karen) and Regina King (Sandra) do not appear in this episode.

    • When a car has no window on one side, the noise from outside comes clearer and louder and also the air dislocation is also notable inside a car. When McCarthy smashed the window from the pickup, the audio inside the car was equal as there was no broken window and also the air dislocation doesn't seem to take place.

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Chloe: Get away from me. There's not a problem, the only problem is people like you bothering me when I'm trying to do my job!

    • Jack: It's done. The bomb is disarmed. Notify your men the bomb's been deactivated. It's over.
      Morris: It's not over.

    • Jack: Are you sure this time?
Chloe: As sure as I'm going to be before this bomb goes off.

    • Morris: Oh, yes! Yes! Very good! A bit excessive, but you did the right thing! Now I've got to get hold of CTU and...
Rita: SHUT UP!! SHUT UP SHUT UP!!!

    • Lennox: You can't possibly be intimating what I think you are.
Reed: I'm not intimating anything. I'm just simply musing.
Lennox: Careful. That kind of musing can get you thrown into prison for treason.

    • Lennox: This memo says Palmer's arranging for Assad to make a televised statement.
      Reed: I heard.
Lennox: Not only are we providing free airtime to a mass murderer and a vowed enemy of democracy, we are proving terrorism works.

    • Wayne: (to Assad) Now, between you and me, sir, I really don't give a damn how and when you wanted to present your agenda; the time is now. You want to lead this peace initiative... then lead.

    • Wayne: My country, sir... has suffered a nuclear attack by the very same terrorists who used to follow you.
Thousands of innocent Americans are dead or dying as we speak.
Assad: I'm aware of the tragedy
in California, Mr. President. I was there.
Wayne: Then you understand, that if Fayed successfully detonates any more nuclear weapons on US soil, there will be no chance whatsoever for a peace agreement. The American people are demanding that we strike back. And not just at organizations such as yours, but at the governments that support them. Now, if just one more nuke goes off, one more, we won't have a choice. You understand me? We're talking about war.

    • Wayne: I've checked out your background. And despite my understandable skepticism, I do believe you're serious about wanting this negotiated peace.
Assad: On my own terms, yes.

    • Jack: (looking at the armed suitcase nuke) CTU. This is Bauer. We've got a problem.
