Now here's your standard filler episode—nothing all that interesting anywhere. Lennox scoops up some dirt and blackmails Karen out of the White House, continuing his weaselly ways. Will this ever be brought up again, if only for the sake of plot progression? Who knows?
And so begins one of the most weirdly handled subplots ever: Milo's unrequited crush on Nadia. For now, all we get on this is his illegal act of logging her in under his ID thanks to some racial mandate thing whatever. Will THIS ever be brought up again, if only for the sake of plot progression? Let's wait and see.
The villain plots give us absolute zip; Fayed lounges around and Darren McCarthy remains barely above cannon fodder.
And Jack's progress here amounts to a father-son reunion. Followed by a little turn-the-tables maneuver by Graem. Now that we have an answer to "Who the heck is Graem?" the question becomes, "What the heck is Graem up to now?" Yeah, that's all well and good, but it doesn't really serve the story well to save a second-rate twist for the end and fill the first fifty-five minutes with navel lint, does it? Especially when the payoff isn't even going to be seen until the next hour, DOES IT?

    Hourly Highlight:
    Walid getting beaten up?

    Another good show.

.wonder what episode will reveal that Jack's "nephew" is actually his son. Has nothing to do with the terriost plot.

Hope it gets better....needs more Jack. Powers Booth should be an interesting add to the show. i"m still typing now because it says I need to type 100 words...still now enough words.......etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

I have 412 character count and it stil won't send!!!!!!!!!!

So.. Jack is trying to find is father and with his brother they go to McCarthy's office and they do find that but then some new cards from his brother is put forward - it is not what it looked.. or it is like it always looked from aside.

Nadya gets flagged and Milo helps her.. mm.. this storyline has two possible ways to go and it is yet unclear...

And ok.. Karen Hayes.. she is out.. the speech Wayner gave him.. it was beautiful.. but it was better for her to get off... Now we can be quite sure there is going on something in the administration.. question is - is there another mole in CTU this season too..

This wasnt the best 24 ever. One of the interesting aspects of 24 is the action mixed with outstanding performances by the actors .I won't spoil anything about the plot but the performances in this episode by Mccrane, Sutherland and Cromwell and all the cast are really great.I have been following the series by DVD cause I live in Spain but this episode surprised me even being a loyal follower of the previous seasons of the show. Some of the strong points of the show are the acting and the writing. In my opinion they take risk too and that keep the show alive up to this 6th season .The character of Jack Bauer is very complex and with several dimensions, for the good of these TV series.
  • Interesting development of Jack Bauer!!!

This episode could have been worse...One fact I did like, and that was this new face of Jack we are shown...He tortures his brother and threatens to hand him over to the authorities unless he helps him find their father...Karen Hayes is blackmailed to resign by Tom Lennox...This leaves Pres. Palmer surrounded with people who only want to eliminated the Muslims from America...Walid steals a telephone from a prison mate and though successful, it proves a dead end...Unfortunately for him, he is discovered before he can escape...Graem Bauer leads Jack towards his father's whereabouts...But he has another agenda and he takes his father and Jack prisoner, and kills two CTU members.
  • an episode with less action but still great.. this episode is a relaxing episode but it's still just GREAT!

    "Great"
There's been a lot of mixed opinions on Season 6 thus far, particularly this week's episode which did seem a little "un24ish". Well, breaking it down, the story is basically split into four layers at the moment.

    Layer One:

    The Sandra Palmer/Walid story

Regardless of anyone's like/dislike towards Sandra Palmer and interest/lack of interest in the storyline being carried out here, it reached a complete dead end in this episode when it was determined that the "terrorists" Walid was being told to spy on weren't terrorists at all, but rather pissed off Muslims withholding information they got from a website on a smuggled in cell phone. This of course resulted in Walid's ass kicking and a sure to be rampage from the most annoying side of the Palmer family. So ultimately, the story was just to show Walid's David Copperfield pickpocketing skills and the the massive (and unsuccessful) racial profiling being ordered down from the second layer.

    Layer Two:

    The White House story

Undeniably outstanding acting from Jayne Atkinson and Peter MacNicol... arguably an interesting turn in the story towards the overall plot... undeniably weak character decisions from both Karen Hayes and President Wayne Palmer. I guess Karen's decision to tender her resignation due to Tom's blackmail can be seen from both sides. Though it's been a constant theme on the show that characters will do anything to protect ones close to them, I still feel Karen gave up with too little of a fight. But until any of us work in the government and are put in that situation, I don't think we're really qualified to judge her decision. Palmer's action on the other hand was just ridiculous. After merely asking Karen to change her mind after a pitiful attempt to not accept her resignation, he just lets his National Security Adviser walk out when a NUCLEAR BOMB just WENT OFF. Cause you know, that's not really all that important a thing to consider when losing a top ranking member of your administration. David better be shaking his head somewhere up there. Heck, Logan probably would be disgusted with that decision. I'm really not too happy with the direction they've taken Wayne's character as president so far. But in any event, Karen's out and her way to Los Angeles CTU to be with her hubby Bill and deal with more of the racial profiling her now former White House opposer sent down to all government agencies, which brings us to the third layer.

    Layer Three:

    CTU story

I'll be the first to admit that I am not happy with the lack of screen time Chloe has had this season so far, but everyone also has to see the other side of this. CTU isn't the same CTU anymore. There's new faces and new characters that need to be developed. A lot of criticism towards Seasons 4 and 5 fell on the fact that they weren't as character driven as the first three seasons and rather just concentrated on out-twisting and out-massive explosion-ing the previous episode. Now that there's some new characters to develop, the problems of the past two seasons of not developing characters can be resolved. Yes, I miss Tony and Michelle and Edgar and Mason and even Chappelle, and no they can't be replaced, but they also can't be brought back and I'd rather get to know the new characters in CTU than just have them be the random people who have to open sockets and run simulations for Chloe. I like the Nadia character and though Milo has moved up in the ranks from the peanut eating programmer we saw back in Season One, I think in time I'll start to appreciate his character a little more. I thought it was a nice scene where he let Nadia log in under his name to avoid her flagged account for being Middle Eastern. I love Bill Buchanan more and more every episode. And Morris really is the Mr. Chloe we've been waiting to see since Season Three. Yea, it's a different and definitely not as lovable CTU crew as the one we "grew up" with in the old seasons, but I don't remember the chemistry and inner CTU storylines being cemented in awesomeness when we first met them all either. And there's one thing about CTU that still hasn't and will never change, and that is being the information center for layer number four.

    Layer Four:

    The Jack Bauer story

Whether you view it as 24 going soap opera or not, this is something we've ALL been thinking about and wanting to see for a long time: Jack's family. And no, it's not some little thing on the side that's distracting Jack from his job and the threat being faced. This IS the threat being faced. The only thing I'm not too happy with is the matter with which their possible involvement was discovered, too similar to Paul Raines and Christopher Henderson with their names appearing on a list from a company the terrorists are connected to. Of course, already knowing Graem (apparently not spelled Graham anymore like last season) has been involved in his share of conspiracies, the twist in the episode's final minutes only rested with Papa Bauer's innocence and he and Jack's supposedly ordered executions to carry into next week's hour. All we know now is that for some reason Graem wanted McCarthy to steal the nukes for Fayed from his father's company and the cover up, necessary or not, isn't his main objective.

So what was it about the two episodes following the premiere that didn't strike as typical 24? No huge shootouts? No big explosions? I think what's really obvious here this season is that it's more political driven than it's ever been before. This doesn't mean however that it can't be used to the show's advantage. I'm optimistic, since after all this is 24, and think the heavy political stance the series has taken in Day Six can benefit the season's overall arc as it progresses.

After a brief lull last week just 9 this week has taken this day on to another level. Having found out that the next crossover from day 5 was gream, and that he was jack’s brother, and then the introduction of jacks father, and that they ran the company that was behind the antics of president logan in day 5 was a shocker. after greams little escapade in denying that he new macarthy, and showing his true colours, in ordering the death of both father and brother, we see that jack is back to his best when he interrogates his brother, with the help of agent burke who takes the greatest of pleasure in his job. The look on jacks face when gream admitted to being behind the deaths of president palmer, tony, and michelle was as if Sutherland had been told of a real death, I so wanted him to kill him there and than, but slowly. when it turned out that it was in fact jacks dad who is the ring leader, there was no surprise when he killed gream. the one thing in the episode that while it was developing which came as no surprise was that morris was the expert that macarthy had been talking about to fihad, you had feeling all the time he was working on the picture that it was going to be him, so it was no shock really. The thing that after watching other days is who is going to be the mole inside ctu this, there has to be one.

    "Terrible"
Season six has lost me. I'm so sorry to say that I'm done with 24 after 5 faithful seasons of viewing. This family feud plot line is total garbage. Jack was a lone wolf and now we get the whole happy family. I just can't handle any more of this terrible season. What happened to all the unpredictable twists and heart-racing intensity? It's gone. And this brother daddy plot sunk it even farther out of reach. I'm done, thank you very much for five wonderful seasons.
  • How sad for Jack to find out that his own family was involved in the Terrorist attacks. His brother Gramm is truly a troll!!!! I liked when Jack put the plastic over his face. That was great!!!

It just keeps getting worse for Jack. Last week he had to kill his Friend, CTU traded him to a terrorist orginazation (atleast the Japs don't have him anymore) a nuclear bomb goes off in Los Angeles because he could not get to the bad guys in time and now, he finds out that his family was involved in getting the nuclear devices to the terrorist. What more can possibly happen to Jack? And where is Adrea? Where is Kim? Does anybody know? Who will Jack loose next? Will Jack get the answers out of his brother Gramm in time to same more lives.....tune in to next week to see!
  • How can Jack's brother live with himself?

    9.0
    "Superb"
My mom told me nothing happened in this episode, but when I watched it the next day, I would have to say a heck of a lot happened. She probably didn’t notice it, but Jack’s brother, Graem is the same guy who was giving President Logan advice throughout season 5. Seriously, how can he live with himself? Giving unceasing orders to kill his own brother, and now his father? UGH!!

I feel bad for Nadia, who, even though she lived in the US since she was four, she still has to have all of these security issues. Some people are upset about the show’s racism, but I say it is based on the United States today. People in the US and I’m sure many other countries are guilty of being racist every day.

I really don’t like this Lennox guy. I didn’t like Karen much either, last season, but I feel bad for her. He had no right to force her to resign her position. He just really ticks me off.
  • The Brothers Bauer go on an adventure - and not even the episode itself cares that much, because they get the least screentime in this entire episode.

    8.0
    "Great"
Jack and Graem continue their brotherly adventure until Daddy decides to get involved. Lennox forces Karen out of Wayne's Inner Circle. Walid gets a beat-down. Nadia is Middle-Eastern and frustrated.

I'm definitely not sure how to feel about this episode. It had a minimal amount of Jack (maybe the least that I've ever seen him in an episode) which is kind of upsetting, but that also means less of the "Adventues of the Brothers Bauer" which I can't say I mind, as at this point I still don't think I'm terribly fond of it.

I may become more intrigued, however, with the inclusion of Papa Bauer and his inevitable team-up with Jack. Maybe it's just the fact that I'm fond of the actor who plays him (James Cromwell), but as soon as Phillip showed up the storyline seemed to feel less silly. However, then Graem showed up again and it evened out a bit.

I still can't wrap my head around what exactly can be going on here - I mean, Graem's involvement in Day 5 made sense, because a.) his original intention was to make a profit, and b.) when that went bust, his intention was to cover his behind. Here, I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it. What possible way can five nuclear bombs exploding across the country benefit Graem? Maybe he's just trying to protect himself and he's less involved than we've been lead to believe, but somehow I doubt it. I guess we'll see where it goes.

I'm also wondering what the deal is with the Lennox/Karen storyline. It seems way too easy that she just gets pushed out like that - obviously she'll get justice later - but for the time being it seems like it's just an excuse to get Jayne Atkinson back on the CTU set with the rest of the primary cast. In the meantime, Lennox runs wild - although maybe this is setting up Wayne for a big fall, which would be interesting.

The Walid storyline never interested me too much, and even less so now that it seems there'll be no payoff. Six episodes for this? Even Kumar and those crazy suburbanites were gone by episode four. I'm also wondering when they're going to deal with the fallout (not the radioactive kind) from the nuclear blast. Shouldn't there be crazy panic in the streets? People fleeing all over the place? We saw it at the beginning of episode five, but not since. I hope they bring it back to that at some point.
  • Jack tries to get more information out of Graem. While doing so, his father turns up. Karen resigns under the pressure of Tom Lennox. Walid finds himself in a horrible position when his identity is somewhat revealed.

    7.0
    "Good"
I found this episode to be very boring. There wasn't much action and they hardly showed Jack. But what was shown of him, we already saw in the preview from the week before.

What the heck happened with Walid? That was a total waste of time and nothing came out of it. Unless they find out something more from those middle-eastern men, that whole storyline was nothing but a filler. On the other side, I am liking the Jack-Graem-Phillip storyline. Graem's involvement in Day 5 and now Day 6 is classic.

However, the bad outweighs the good so I don't think this episode deserves anything more than a 7.
  • Milo/Nadia =b

    8.9
    "Great"
I didn't appreciate them doing the Milo & Nadia thing. I'm still not over the deaths of Tony and Michelle, especially since they didn't get their 'silent clock' respects after their deaths. >=[

The Sandra/Walid story never really caught on with me. I was hoping Chase moved back to Washington and would've somehow made an appearance there, but after it being a dead end, I just hope that side-plot is over.

But the Bauer family ordeal has been real interesting. The fact that they go out of their way to show that Philip appears guilty (by leaving his cell phone behind) and then making him look innocent when Jack confronts him, even eventually taking his side was very intruiging. It looks like they're working on the backstory a bit, so it'd be nice learning more about "9 years ago" as the story progresses. It was also nice when Graem turned the tables and finally revealed to Jack a bit of his character that the audience had already known about. I'd like to see where this goes and what secrets will be uncovered.

Not much for action, but a very suspenseful episode.

Jack meets his brother Graem, who also appeared in season 5, this adds to the mystery of season 6. Jack notices that his brother's not so trustworthy so he gets some information out of him by resorting to torture. Lennox gets Karen out of the Wayne Palmer's inner circle by threatening her career by releasing information about her mishandling of the terrorists that might have lead to the nuclear bomb getting detonated at Valencia. Walid agrees to work with the FBI. Nadia gets affected by the security protocols implemented by Lennox and makes her life harder inside CTU. This episode is so awesome.
  • Jack is reunited with his family. Not a typical family reunion though.

    8.5
    "Great"
In my opinion is it still too early to judge whether or not this is going to be a good season or not. I frankly liked this episode it may not have been total non stop like explosions and yelling and gunfire. I think all too often people loose sight of what 24 is really all about. Which in my opinion is the development of characters and how each of these characters deal with each other and are in some way or another connected to each other. This episode really moved things along very nicely. It definitely furthered along this years situation with Jack realizing his brother's connection to the days events. You can also see how McCarthy is connected to them as well as Fayed. Even the sub plot of the racism and discrimination at CTU with Nadia was kinda of interesting as it really finally allowed Nadia to show some depth with her character and the actress who plays her. I thought i despised Lennox before but wow that guy is really good at making you hate him even more with the way he makes Karen quit. Although she is definitely up to something by coming to CTU. But back to Jacks situation I actually though maybe Jacks father was in on this but he is just as shocked as anyone when he realizes his men turn on him and are working Graem. Things definitely seem to be really picking up as we move along this season.
  • One hour afer the nuclear bomb hits LA and Jack is back to work following a lead.

    9.2
    "Superb"
This episode was great for me for two reasons. One, we see the strain and pressure put on the President and his people during a time of national crisis, and two, we get to begin to dig deeper into Jack's history before CTU or the beginning of 24. I like the direction this episode is headed. We see a political standoff among Presidential assistants, a family divided, and the possibility of a new CTU romance.

However, there are several things I am curious to find out more about such as:

    Kim and Audree

How the panic is affecting the city and nation

and, The ex-President's Logan's wife Martha.

However, as always... 24 keeps me on the edge of my seat!
  • This episode starts over an hour after a nuc bomb explodes in LA. As others said, I wondered as well if the show will deal with it. In all honesty, thats about the only thing I'm dissapointed about in this episode: they did not deal with the bomb at all.

    9.3
    "Superb"
In the episode previous to that one, we saw scared people escaping, chaos in the streets, fire, anger, confusion. This episode was more relaxed, so to speak, with maily an introduction for what's coming next. I'm sure Karen has something up her sleeve, Milo and Nadia seem to be the new Tony and Michelle, and with Graem and Jack's story, I dare to hope Logan will show up again, maybe even James Heller (who I love!)

Great episode. Real and classic 24, without a doubt!

Plot: Jack forces Graham to take him to McCarthy's office in the hopes of finding a lead to their father's whereabouts. Tom out maneuvers Karen and forces her out of the Presidents inner circle. The FBI screws up Walid’s sting operation. Nadia continues to look hot, while wrestling with her Muslim heritage.

Did anyone see the movie Twins? Anytime I see Jack and his brother on screen next to each other, I immediately think of the lovable body comedy staring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Devito. It’s like Jack got all the good genes and Graham got the leftover embryonic sack. Graham tells Jack that he has just gotten out of Chinese prison and should take a chill pill, but Jack opts to strangle him for a bit instead. This is relaxing for Jack! Being a spineless weakling, he immediately caves and tells Jack that their company bought the nukes from the Russians and was contracted to decommission them. Graham hired McCarthy to oversee the job and he betrayed them. Government oversight has never been that stringent but you might want to keep an eye on a bundle of suitcase sized nukes. I would like to think we track that sort of stuff. Jack’s father wants to keep his son out of prison and thinks he can take on the terrorists by himself. Maybe in your prime old man; let’s leave the heroics to the younger generation. Jack convinces his dad that they need to bring the authorities in, but Graham will have none of that. He prompts his hired henchman to deal with them. Once again, leaving the scene before actually watching them being killed. Do all villains have a fear of blood or something? For once, I would like them to show some initiative and see the damn order through!

Back at the White House, Tom maneuvers his way around Karen and threatens to expose evidence that she is protecting her husband. With Karen out of the way he is free to wallow in his own crapulence. Just because Karen is gone, I really don’t think the President is going to allow him to instigate his Nazi war crimes. Palmer is black after all and he tends to frown upon out right racism.

The best part of the show was the wrapping up of the Walid story line. As predicted, the FBI’s plan complete failed and the phony terrorists beat the crap out of him. Was that not the worst reaction time ever? The FBI agent orders the guards to get Walid out of there and then they all stand around as an angry mob slowly advances on him. Unfortunately, the guards were distracted by a shiny nickel they found on the ground. Unable to resist the temptation to play with something shiny, Walid is left to fend for himself. That guy is so fired! Parting Thought: That will do pig, that will do.

  • What the hell is wrong with this episode

I can't seem to enjoy this episode, no matter how I watch it. The fact is, we're going to back where we were 1 episode ago. Not really an enjoyable factor to think about, that we have to wait a anoter week for the plot to finally turn around and have this season prove itself. Now, if you will take note, not one episode of season 5 has been rated below a 9 in the total tally. Not one. The trend continued in season 6, but sadly, it stops here. And I'd like to help and fix that, but this episode has left me no choice to be honest. This season started fast, maybe too fast. That's why we have one of these episodes that drags like this.

It looks like from the previews the plot will turn completely next week, and hopefully turn for the better, just like season 5 did. And if what I'm reading what happens next is to be true, hopefully this will only be the only "bad" episode this season. I don't mean like it's awful, but I don't think it was good or bad.
  • Ummmmm, guys you do remember that small detail that a nuclear bomb just went off in an L.A. suburb, right? Because from what I've seen the last two weeks, with the exception of some shots of a dissapating mushroom cloud, we've not really dealt with this.

I've read in various places that 24 tends to break down the day into arcs. So, I wonder if this epiosde was about changing arcs. It really felt like we were moving characters into place for the next big 24 event to happen.

I will give 24 credit--it's calmed my fears of a shark-fin sighting a good deal this week. Having Graem reveal he's been playing both Jack and Daddy Bauer was a nice reveal. And 24 is just one of those shows that excels at giving you little details you wish they'd follow up on--like Graem's line of "Remember when you abandoned Dad, Jack?" I sat up, wanting to know more about this. I assume we'll find out about it later, but it's still pretty cool.

And I do wonder some things--is Graem more involved in the bringing the suitcase devices to th United States than just as the broker for the deal? And if he is, how long until Jack goes completely Bauer on him. You have to admit, these two know how to get under each other's skin with Graem taunting Jack about Terry's death. (Playing dirty there...do any TV siblings get along?)

There were a few things about this episode I didn't buy. One is how easily Tom got Karen to resign. It didn't seem in character for her and while she's loyal to Bill, it's hard to believe she'd so easily step down, especially in the light of how wary she is of Tom's agenda. She just found out Tom has railroaded in extra secruity measures for those of Arab-descent and she quickly steps down. I felt like the scene when she went to talk to Wayne would be her revealing what had happned to Wayne and asking for help, not resigning. Did I miss something here?

I am glad the Waylid plotline is over. Talk about a complete blind alley. Was there any point to this other than to give the Palmer sister something to do? Could we please write her of the show yesterday? She's really getting on my last nerve and that plotline adds nothing to the show. Nada, zip, zilch, zero..you get the point.

And anyone else think that Milo giving Nadia his security clearance won't come back to bite him? Yeah, I didn't think so. Though I do get a weird Tony/Michelle type of romantic tension between these two. I guess an intense day like that will do that for you....

The first 3/4 of this episode are soley devoted to the character relationships in the show, something that 24 used to do in previous seasons and it is a welcome return to see an episode dedicated to it in this season.

The only plot line im not liking at the moment is that of the Bauer's. Although the end of this episode ended quite nicely and really set us up for things to come, I'm sure that Jack and Phillip will be finding about "Graem's" past in the next episode.

Also, on a final note, I am british, we don't talk like Darren McCarthy does! or Morris for that matter!
  • Where is Jack!?!? he bookends this episode that gives us plenty of movement in our side story lines, but who really cares about that? I want Jack fighting terrorists, not the presidents sisters boyfriend.

Sad. 24 is the show that seemed to just get better and better as each season moved forward, but it seems as if this season is not on par with season 5. The twist that jacks brother is a terrorist is quite lame and bringing the "i need to talk to my father who i havent spoken to in 7 years" typical tv twist is almost a shark jumping moment. I really hope it isnt. I just dont like the direction the show is moving in this season, and the side story lines are just getting lamer and lamer.
  • Grossly underrated and a welcome return to the more tense and foreboding stuff of the riveting earlier seasons.

This episode was on first run through, a tad of an adrenalineless ride but on second thought it was absolutly brilliant. It was such a Season 1 and 2 episode. And they were my favourites, subtle yet clever. The 24 writers are getting back to classic 24 if you ask me and I couldnt be happier.

Those who say it was boring, the show is lacking any direction should leave now. This is the stuff of the realistic, of the tense and foreboding early seasons where characters meant something and the action wasnt all gunfights and dozens of bodybags. The measure of a good season, Jacks kill count. The less kills the better. The adrenaline inducing scenes conjured excitement through the unexpectedness of the events that unfolded.

The characters are getting better too, and I fell they're trying to rebuild an ensemble cast of sorts, making another 24 gang that was last seen in seasons through to three. I think, like others have said, that this episode will make more sense once we look back at the end of the season. Karen's departure is less abrupt than it seems, she's too clever and I think she's done something that will be revleaed later. Graems true intentions are slowly being revealed, and his interactions with Jack are to me fascinating, the characters are making 24 interesting once more. Next week promises a real nail biter, how will Jack be able to save himself and his father. The story once again really means something to Jack.

This season has exceeded my expectations ten fold. Those saying its boring and its losing its spark should re assess their opinions. If you want to see another season of a coninuing threat and Jack simply moving from one gun fight to another, that really only excites for a few seconds then rent a b movie action flick. 24 is back to slowly building up a forebading and tense atmosphere, and its only going to get better from here.
  • a decent episode

Not one of the better episodes i watched recently. I was a little taken back on how slow it was compared to the first few this season. It didnt seem to keep the same pace nor context of other episodes.

I was a little shocked by the ending however. I never in a million years expected the betrayal that occurred. I knew there was something wrong with his family just not like that. I have not watched this show since the beginning but i am catching up slowly. *shakes his head and mutters* he was just plain messed up. I hope the next episode returns to the whole nuclear plot to help fill in the plot.
  • Ordinarily I would rate this a good episode a 7, but just because its 24, I give it a bonus point to 8.

Ok, so Jacks brother, the ER doctor who was killed by a falling helicopter after losing his arm to another helicopter turns the tables on Jack. I think thats one of the problems here - that guy was on ER so long I think of him as that one armed ER doctor, not Jacks brother.

Be that as it may.... Yet again guys with guns get the drop on Jack (and his dad) to be ridden off to their deaths in a van... but of course, Jack will rip out one of the thugs throat with his teeth like hes having another flashback to the days when he did the vampire movie "Lost Boys"; or some other suitably bloody method. Now that Jack tasted human blood - maybe hes a vampire now?

Im getting the feeling that this season peaked when the suitcase nuke went off and he killed Curtis. I hope Im wrong. If all that happens is Jack ends up stopping the other 4 bombings after several more Houdini-like escapes, Season 6 will be a dissappointment. Hopefully the writers will at least let another bomb go off (hopefully in San Francisco or on the UC Berkeley campus) or something else unexpected.

What will they come up with for Season 7? It will be a challenge to avoid recycling old plots since each passing season seems to be revisiting old plots more often.

this episode hardly left any impact on me .. graem being the black sheep its kinda've hard to imagine this in real life ..now i want him dead they better kill him off soon, it seems like this show is stepping further and further from reality with each episode .. and whats up with karin hayes giving up without a fight thats not what i got used to with major roles in this show but i guess there's a reason for everything gotta wait till the end .. the only good thing about this episode was morris i just love that guy the accent the attitude the whole shebang :P

In the previous episode, it wasn’t clear how Jack knew that his brother was up to something related to the terrorist attacks. Nor was it clear why Graem Bauer would want to see his brother dead. One reason is perhaps too obvious: his parents named him “Graem”. That would be enough for most people, especially when your brother is “Jack”. How did Jack end up with so few vowels?

Graem’s explanation for his connection to McCarthy sounds logical enough, but it’s obvious from the beginning that he’s being rather selective with what he reveals to Jack. Still, it goes a long way towards explaining what kind of business Graem and Papa Bauer had been involved with over the years, and why Jack might be seen as a threat. If Graem is ruthless enough to allow thousands of people to die for his own interests (in at least the past two seasons), why not eliminate his own brother?

For all that his perspective might have broad support, Tom’s activities do step over the line. He also continues to support the president while undermining his dictates. It certainly doesn’t speak well for his position that he conspires to remove someone who dares to keep his proposals within reasonable boundaries. More to the point, if his position is the correct one, why does he need to blackmail and attack his philosophical opponents? The answer is simple: he knows his position is untenable otherwise.

Ironically, if Karen had such a high regard for Wayne’s ethics and fair-minded thinking, she would have simply disclosed the situation about Bill and Fayed and let the chips fall where they may. Bowing down to Tom at this point only gives him the chance to use the information at a later time of his choosing, and the resignation would be seen as admission of guilt.

For once, the drama at CTU is related less to soap opera nonsense and more to the national security issues already on the table. It also draws the fine distinction between racial identity and religious identity, and how mistaking one for the other can be a disastrous error. (Leaving aside, for the moment, the recent trend of casting Latina women for Middle-Eastern roles, as on “NCIS”!) Sandra Palmer continues to be ridiculously naïve regarding the needs of counter-terrorism efforts. One would expect that someone dedicated to protecting the rights of a beleaguered population would understand the nuances involved. Her concerns is naturally for Walid’s safety, but she should also be considering the benefit of cooperating under these circumstances and showing how valuable American Islamic support can be to anti-terrorism efforts. Even though the intelligence was ultimately incorrect, the due diligence of following that lead was necessary.

That said, Walid is not an undercover agent, and they never should have expected him to do anything requiring any measure of finesse. It was that miscalculation that led to his beating. Sandra Palmer, of course, sees it differently, as though they allowed Walid to be brutalized for nothing. She ought to know the simple concept of 20/20 hindsight.

This is the second episode in a row where the FOX promotional division spoiled the end of an episode. While this is nothing new for the idiots at FOX, it is incredibly annoying for fans looking for the most exciting and unspoiled experience each and every week. This complete and utter incompetence on the part of FOX, the latest in a laundry list of blunders, should be openly lambasted.

However, that is nothing compared to the major flaw creeping into the storyline. After establishing Jack’s lack of confidence over the course of the first four episodes, a psychological state that made sense within the context provided, the writers have seemingly abandoned that aspect of the character in favor of an immediate reversion to his usual cold-blooded efficiency. None of the self-doubt seems to remain, and so the potential for a long and revealing restoration has effectively vanished. It’s not too late for that to slip back into the story, but as the writers begin working on the fly again, it’s doubtful. Once again, the writers trade quality for expediency.
