Oh, I think this episode had much better motion than some last ones - we had clear danger and problem what to solve and so they did their best to do so.

I also most say I like where the whole Nadya storyline is getting - at the start of the season i was wondering where it goes - will she be the traitor or will there develope something between her and Milo.. it looks like both are happening.. mm.. if she was really involved in this - we learn later, I am sure..

And the revelation about Audrey.. that was shocking. I was still hoping she is around somewhere.. oh..
  • I've run out of titles

Don't expect closure on Logan come 6:00 AM; the writers really bit their own asses this time. In other news, the drone arc comes to one of the lamest culminations ever.

Following the events of three minutes ago, Fayed and Gredenko launch only one drone before fleeing. With them gone, that drone is CTU's focus for the hour. Okay, one last "alcoholic Morris" reference, then it's on to a mole search! *GAG* Racial profiling implicates Nadia, who gets manhandled some by Doyle. Hot, but ultimately useless.

Karen, a tragic victim of indecisive story-mapping, returns to the bunker and learns of Daniels' plan to wage war on [Fayed's country] should this nuke blow. So she considers waking Wayne out of his coma with Sandra's permission. Right, Sandra's also back. Woo-hoo.

On Jack's front, we get a taste of the season's next plot (naturally): he vows to avenge Audrey, who was apparently killed in China. Then back to business as he helps take the drone down in a rubbish crash. I know what's been established about the consequences of a second detonation, but that makes me feel no less underwhelmed.

And I wish to amend my season individuality thing: recycling plot points EXCEPT the CTU mole is alright with me. So yeah, this episode isn't exactly hot.

    Hourly Highlight:

Well, every episode's gotta have something good, so… I'll take Karen and Lennox's "stairs/ineptitude" exchange.
  • I don't quite understand the detailed nitpicking of this season here, but obviously many folks must have had a bad dinner before sitting down to watch it.

    10
    "Perfect"
Someone here went to great lengths to criticize the denouement in this episode. Everything this person said made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Sometimes I wonder if these folks are actually watching the episode they take such great joy in trashing.

Karen comes back to work after hearing that President Palmer has been shot. She's coming back to stand strong on his position during the crisis. Why is this so hard for folks to understand?

Some have actually harped here on the nuclear event being the main event and everything afterwards was a nonissue. Huh? Are you serious? If something doesn't blow up every episode you're disappointed? Wow.

I saw some harping that Logan wasn't in this episode and wondered what happened to him. Well, if you watch closely he died. What's there to complain about?

The information on Audrey was certainly an interesting turning point in the series and should be recognized as such. The ratings of this episode here are far too low.

Honestly, you people obviously love this show, and regardless of your indigestion from dinner while watching, you shouldn't come here and trash this show ad infinitem. of course, if the show was cancelled then you'd whine and complain about that.

Alot of the reviews here are written by obviously intelligent folk, but either they were in a foul mood when watching or they simply weren't paying attention to the episode they choose to trash.

This is a very well written show and should be applauded here and supported, not nailed to the cross. Drop the caustic attitude and enjoy the show for the entertainment it is meant to be. It's high class, well written entertainment.

Also, stop and smell the roses and hug your loved ones. You'll feel better :)
  • The terrorists receive another blow...VP Daniels elaborates a risky plan and tries to implement it...

Man, this was a wonderful episode...filled with action, especially the operation to eliminate the drone...Jack comes back to TU to find out Audrey may be dead...In the meantime VP Daniels propose a nuclear attack to revenge the terrorist attacks...He acts very strange, and not even Tom and Karen can't convince him to abort his plans...A mole may be in CTU and it appears to be Nadia...I must say i doubt it, cause usually in these type of shows where everything is possible, nothing is what it seems...Jack leads an operation to eliminate a drone launched by the terrorists, and manages to do so in time.
  • Same old same old

Well ladida, another mole at CTU. Seriously, can't we have a single season without a CTU mole? The only one I can think of was season three, and it still contained that storyline (only Gael turned out to be non-mole). Seriously, this is getting incredibly old. You'd think CTU would learn to do background checks on the people they hire. Or are those background checks being done by Fredrik Reinfeldt?

Vice president Daniels is really an idiot. "Hmm, we have proof that these people weren't involved in the assasination attempt, we also have proof that the main terrorists are from another country, but I'm really hoping to be Mr Bigott of the year, or possibly Prime Idiot of the year, so let's bomb them to pieces just for the heck of it. That will make us ever so loveable."

As for the Audrey storyline... I honestly couldn't care less. Though I already know how that storyline ends up, thanks to tv.com announcing it on their main page. Lovely.

All in all... we've seen this before; can't they come up with something new? And also, Gredenko could possibly be portrayed by the worst actor they've ever had on the show. Seriously, I cringe when he opens his mouth.

    On the positive side:

That little plane thingy that carried the bomb was incredibly cute. But it's probably a negative that I thought so...

This might be my favorite dialogue of the season:

Karen: Did someone push you down the stairs?

Lennox: No, Karen. I tripped over your ineptitude.
  • No - Audrey is Dead ! Or is she ??????

This is the 1st time i have reviewed a episode for season 6. Season 6 was pretty bad at the start ,but was getting better. but now..............

Audrey Raines is dead !? Or is she ?????

Yes she is(we r told in this episode she is). I hate that ! Audrey was great in season 4 & 5.

I hope she is not dead (wink-wink !!!!). I hope she will come back. (Like Vaughn in Alias Season 5)

Audrey Raines died in a accident in china, when looking 4 jack. We r told in this episode.

Jack asserts that it was no accident- she was murdered. He says that Audrey died trying to save him because she thought he was worth it, and he doesn't want her sacrifice to go to waste. So he's going to finish this, and then when he's done he's going to go find Audrey's murderers and take care of them too.

Poor jack - he loves her so much!

I think overall - season 6 is getting better.........

  • This episode was great.

    "Perfect"
Is Audrey Raines dead? I don't know, i don't believe that she is personally. This episode kind of left Jack out of the picture and focused more on CTU and the presidence. This episode also brought back Karen to the White House and vice president seems to be going over the top on his plans to fire on the middle east. Another Nuke is captures but more casulties could be involved, Jack saved the day from stopping to bomb hitting its target. Nadia is accused of being a spy. The new CTU agent appears to be a little dodgy, and Lennix need to tell Karen what is going on. This episode was simply unmissable. This season is great, i don't know why people believe differently.
  • A promising start to the episode but ended up being yet again another unoriginal episode.

    6.0
    "Fair"
It was the best episode in a long while. However it ended not how I wanted it to. Yet again the villains in 24 have been thwarted. And it was a bit convenient that the location of the pilot of the first drone was just three blocks away from CTU so Jack and Doyle could get there in a matter of minutes before the hour was up.

And yet another mole. I don't think it's Nadia. It's a very cliched 24 storyline, whether she's the mole or not. I haven't read any spoilers but I think it's Doyle. Or is it a red herring that they're making him so dislikeable?

It's also getting boring seeing an action scene always in the last ten minutes of an episode. Why not at the start or midway through for a change?

The only good points about this episode was the bit where the first drone went down the runway and took off, and the new sub-plot with Audrey's death. Again I haven't read any spoilers but I don't think she's dead.
  • Picking up steam again!

The show after a slow start has finally picked up steam and glad that it has after Jack's family problems are now gone

While he comes back to CTU, he learns devestating news about Audrey. While yet another mole has come into the CTU. I mean, how many moles are they going to have? Karen may find an alley in Lennox but is cautious.

Gredenko links up with Abu Fayad and they prepare the drones. CTU gets to storm the embassy after they receive approval from the russian president. Chloe discovers that their might be a mole inside CTU. Gredenko launches the drone, Jack and a team hunts down the pilot of the drone operating just a few blocks away. Daniels summons his chief of staff and he delivers his plan to retaliate against an Arab country. Karen voices her opposition to the plan. Lennox is caught between Daniels and Karen as he contemplates what action is needed to deal with the terrorist threat. This is an awesome episode.
  • A fairly good episode of 24 - a rarity this season.

    9.0
    "Superb"
So wow, I actually really enjoyed this episode. There was some really good stuff this time around - although, the Bauer Family Drama unfortunately rears its ugly head for a moment or three.

Before I go any further - can I ask why Jack's adventures at the Russian consulate have had such an adverse effect on him? He's been clutching his side for a good two hours now. While I appreciate the realism here, it should be noted that earlier in the morning, Jack was tortured - and that's AFTER a two-year long torture session in China. So why's he all injured now, of all times?

Anyway. So, Audrey is dead (supposedly). Definitely an interesting and itriguing twist - although I fear it may only be a plot device to further the Jack/Marilyn romance that the writers seem so set on this year. I highly doubt that Audrey is truly dead, though - it feels like a character who is supposed to be as important to Jack as Audrey is would be killed on-screen. I guess this gives the writers an out though - if for whatever reason Kim Raver doesn't want to come back (and I don't see why she wouldn't, as "The Nine" folded after less than 10 episodes), she's already been declared dead. If she's up for it, the story of her death can easily be written off as an elaborate hoax (which is what I'm assuming is going to happen).

For now though, Audrey is dead and it gives Jack some good emotional baggage that does NOT involve his family (although I do wish that they would deal more with his emotional frame of mind from his China experience).

Another small aside - seriously, Marilyn. Maybe your marriage had fallen apart, but your husband has been dead for less than 10 hours. Your son is still grieving. Maybe you should take some time to mourn before you zero in on his brother, mmkay?

I was honestly unsure of whether or not the nuke was going to go off in this episode. I suppose that's one good thing to happen in wake of the original nuclear blast in episode four - the viewer can't be sure if the writers are going to pull the rug out from under them again.

Am I the only one who thinks it's silly that Karen Hayes is the only person who seemed to have a problem with the Vice President's plan o' terror? I mean - seriously. We know that Tom isn't down with it, but I should think that someone - say, an army general or the Secretary of Defense - might have some misgivings about attacking Unidentified Middle Eastern Country in the first place, let alone after the terror plot had been thwarted? Why is Karen Hayes the only one with the fortitude to stand up to him, or even offer disagreement? Also, no updates on Logan in this one. Until I hear otherwise, I'm going to assume that he's bleeding to death.

Very good offering in this one, although the brief return of the Bauer Family Angst and the joke that the writers call a Cabinet keep it from a perfect score.
  • One of the best episodes so far this season.

    9.6
    "Superb"
Everything about this episode made it better than many of the other episodes this season (although I still believe Season 6 is one of the best yet). The chemistry between Milo and Nadia was very good, and I also like the fact that Milo seems to be the real mole setting Nadia up which is why he gave her access. CTU was at its best this episode, as was Jack, and he's getting a better amount of screentime, something lacking in the last two or three episodes. Lennox, Karen, and Daniels make interesting centers to the political plotline, but the big story of the episode was Audrey. Personally, I don't think she's dead, and I see this as being the second major plotline of the season that we will hopefully get to relatively quickly after Gradenko, Fayed, and Daniels are dealt with. Overall, fantastic episode, and I guess I'll just have to get used to people being disappointed with this season's episodes even while I don't understand it.
  • My enemy's enemy is my friend, Audrey the Intrepid, and (yet) another mole in CTU....waitaminute, somebody forgot Logan!

    8.9
    "Great"
It's always nice when one of the bad guys sees himself in a mirror and has a change of heart. Lennox was as hissable a villain as the VP is now, except once he saw his notional radicalism in motion he realized how wrong-headed it really is. Too bad Assad had to die before it sunk in.

The Tom-Karen dynamic is going to be fun to watch - we'll see what (if any) protests the Joint Chiefs make on nuking the northern border of [insert Middle Eastern country of choice], or if they'll be depicted as "just following orders."

Audrey is not dead, and Nadia is not the mole! Did I surprise anybody there? 24 seems to be retreading their shocking ideas......Nadia's "leak" will be coincidental, but this mole thing has been played so much, I wonder if it won't actually be a mole this time, but just an extraordinarily good hacker breaking through a firewall defect -- barring that, will it be tied to the DHS restrictions put on Nadia's security level access? I'm sensing something more than the usual mole-in-CTU storyline here....the situation elicits fear-induced Islamophobic paranoia and depicts the mind-set and psychology from which a Lennox security plan might get supported and ultimately enforced. I wonder if we'll be "treated" to seeing Nadia getting tased on the neck like Erin Driscoll had done to Sara awhile back under similar circumstances...

Audrey, on the other hand, may have been sacrificed to the Chinese for Jack's exchange; except she's James Heller's daughter (and I wonder how he's been doing since his recovery?) and the whole thing was staged. She is in the Midwest somewhere working as a part-time waitress with a fat pension for the rest of her life. I hope to be in for a surprise by how this develops! At least now world-weary family-less Jack has something to fight for again.

My biggest mark against this episode is no follow-up to the Logan demise (but of course could happen in a future ep).....You think it would at least warrant a mention, but it wasn't even included on the "previously in 24" segment. After that Logan "Rosebud" moment in the ambulance ("Martha!"), don't leave me hanging! That was beautiful.

whats going on with twenty four its sooo losing its effect on me.. what ever happened to the 24 i love.. it should be getting better every season especially since its under this particular genre there's so much more they can do ..but it seems to me like the writers are pushing all the wrong buttons i mean seriously why kill audery, they might as well bomb the entire CTU set and start over with a new everything.. because i don't think jack can take anymore crap..i seriously hate the writers for making me hate this show .. because i really love it .. don't know if that makes sense..and i shall wait for another horrific episode
  • I'll try my best not to turn this review into a long rant of my disappointments, because as a whole I did think the episode was very good and did have its moments, but I can't ignore the unfortunate fact that the show isn't the same as what it once was.

    24 Episode 6.14 "Day Six 7:00PM-8:00PM"

    Airdate: Monday, March 19th 9:00PM-10:00PM

"Why does everything that's happened today seem like a variated copy of all the stuff that happened on those other five bad days I had? Why does the death of my girlfriend only seem to bother me because it makes absolutely no sense? Why am I barely on the show anymore?"

    - Jack Bauer's thoughts after Hour 14

I'll try my best not to turn this review into a long rant of my disappointments, because as a whole I did think the episode was very good and did have its moments, but I can't ignore the unfortunate fact that the show just isn't the same as what it once was. Watching Jack Bauer save California again by joystick-controlling the nuclear drone to safety was more merely entertaining that it was exciting and intense. In fact, aside of everything in the White House (not even so much the political plot line but rather the amazing dynamic with Tom and Karen), the storytelling has really just gotten extremely bland. We have villains with no depth whatsoever, rehashed storylines inside CTU, an MIA Jack Bauer for too many episodes, and countless illogical reasonings surrounding the news of Audrey's death that I'm going to have to devote an entire paragraph to later on.

It was a very unbalanced hour at CTU in terms of quality and originality. For every classic Chloe moment, there was some recycled ideas from previous seasons. Almost went 14 hours without hearing anything of CTU being infiltrated. And while I'm fairly certain Nadia is not the mole, it's gotten to the point of ridiculous with CTU continuing to be god awful at security checks when hiring their employees that it's going to annoy me no matter who it is. Even if this would be a let down, I'd almost rather it be some random face we've never seen before just because I don't want to see anybody we know be a traitor. And while I was thrilled that the target ended up being San Francisco and Buchanan & crew didn't have to save their own city for once, it was of course wonderfully convenient that the terrorist who could pilot the drone from anywhere in the world decided to station himself a few blocks away from Jack Bauer's play pen.

Meanwhile in the White House, Vice President Jerkface is looking to go to war with any country that drinks milk after the expiration date. I really hope there's a hidden agenda yet to be revealed, because the VP's decision to warning-nuke the unnamed Arab country from the reasoning he provided would even raise Logan's eyebrows (speaking of which, good thing we got any information regarding his condition). Even worse than this Commander-in-Idiot basically sending an invite for every country to hate America worse than they already do is the fact that it's making Tom and Karen actually have to agree with each other on something. Their dynamic could very well be my favorite part of this season; which isn't saying much, but they've really done a fantastic job. But perhaps even worse than that is that Wayne is going to have to be woken from his coma and risk his life which is going to bring back whining disgust from the unwanted return of Sandra Palmer. Either way though, I was very intrigued by the political plot line developing and am looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

Onto the "shocker" of the hour. Ok, I am not the biggest Audrey fan (though I did like her a lot more last season than in Season 4). However, her character is extremely necessary. Whether you view her as an annoying, useless pain in the ass or the perfect match made in heaven for Jack, she's above all else a critical plot device; for both Jack and the show itself. Audrey has ultimately served as Jack's reason for living, and her sudden and random death story just seems to render so much of the last two seasons virtually pointless. She's been the overarching light at the end of the tunnel for Jack and despite my come-and-go dislike of Audrey, I was actually really looking forward to her return this season. I just don't understand the logic in this. First off, there were definitely pre-season reports indicating that Audrey would be back. But even if Kim Raver was just being a **** about returning, what is the point of killing off her character? Why couldn't she just be written off and possibly come back later on? Even storytelling wise it makes no sense. Why would the Chinese murder her? Wouldn't it be smarter to capture Audrey and use her as leverage against Jack? The only positive that came out of it was another perfect performance by Kiefer. Unfortunately the way the season's going, the only Emmy recognition he might achieve this year is under the Supporting Actor category.

To end on a positive note (because the episode did have a nice energetic burst to it), the series has remained true to its brilliant storytelling methods in moving from Arc One to Arc Two as the season reaches the second half of its main story. As in all previous seasons, the closing episodes of the opening arc beautifully set the stage for the beginning episodes of the closing arc; which in Day Six appears to be the aftermath of the terror and possibly dealing with a war with the Middle East (and Russia perhaps depending on how they want to work that angle). But in order for this season to be remembered for more than just being the worst (at this point I don't think it's possible to ever crawl out of the pit that was made from the first half of the season), something big, original and unforgettable is going to have to happen. But again, as far as the episode on its own is concerned, it certainly did not fail in the entertainment department and was still more riveting than most primetime action dramas.

    Overall Episode Rating: 8.6
  • One of the best episodes this season. Tight script and all storylines equally interesting. CTU is closing in on the terrorists and the Vice President is out of control.

    9.5
    "Superb"
Definitely one of the best episodes so far. CTU really felt like CTU and Chloe had one of the most hilarious moments ever on 24. I don't think I ever laughed out that loud on 24 before! I really don't think Nadia is the mole. Do they even have one? I have my theory about it, but I won't spill it here. ;) Jack wasn't much in this episode but the screentime he had was excellent. Audrey dead?!? She better not! Jack needs her too much, she just can't be! :( Why is Division keeping what happened Top Secret? I loved how Jack turned his head away when Marilyn tried to kiss him. Back off, woman! *lol* Kiefer played that scene so well, when he learned about Audreys death. Big compliments on that. He always breaks my heart.

I can't believe Daniels gave that order! Is he crazy? I love the chemistry between Karen and Tom, it's such a pleasure to watch them argument. This season is definitely more drama than action. Maybe it's not everyone's taste, but I like it a lot. Really good episode, I'm looking forward to next week.
  • Jack deals with devistating news. CTU closes in on Gredenko and Fayed. Daniels moves forward with implementing his plan no matter what.

    "Good"
A fairly decent episode. Nothing special or worth writing home about. But it did a successful job of moving the story along and I say it really is kind of looking like Doyle is a younger version of Jack. As it was practically the same style of attack Jack delivered to Audrey and Nina that Doyle did to Nadia. As we learn Nadia is a suspected mole providing CTU's satellite feed to the terrorists. Jack learns Audrey is dead in a story i hope will become false. I too have heard rumours she was coming back for a few episodes I mean she was with him last year not figuratively but literally when he get the call from the chinese. So i mean if it doesn't turn out she's alive this is a major cop out and cheap ass move by these lazy writers. I mean his own daughter Kim is absent for the most part the last 3 seasons with no explanation if they didn't wanna or couldnt bring her back this why did they feel all of a sudden the need to make one for her abscence. Anyways that aside the interesting duo of Jack and Doyle stop the drone from it's intended target of San Francisco but Vice President Bomb Everything err I Mean Daniels still wants to launch an attack anyways. The story was moved along nicely just at a bit of a strange pace for 24. A decent episode though
  • An average episode.

    8.9
    "Great"
Did anyone notice the really annoying fact that they totally ignored Logan's cliffhanger last week? I was like, "What?" Anyway, not a horrible episode but it really bothered me all the way through it that they didn't even mention Logan flatlining, which may have downed the grade a few points.

First: Audrey's dead! The wicked witch of the west is dead! Well, no she's not. I think that's pretty obvious. Or, at least, I think it is. She'll probably appear near the end of the season or as the mucho cliffhanger. Guess they needed a way to keep her off in case The Nine didn't bomb. (Which, sadly, it did.)

Nadia didn't do anything. I think Milo is the one leaking the information. Remember that there was the little issue in the beginning of the episode where Chloe scolded them for password-sharing so Nadia could get proper clearance.

And the dumb vice president! God, who's that stupid? I'm like practically steaming! How could anyone be as stupid to risk World War III just to not look like an ass for backing out of his original plan? This should be interesting.

The whole episode was, overall, really good and got me actually involved by yelling at the television when the VP was making stupid decisions and cheered when Tom grew a backbone and bit my nails as Jack tried to get the drone from not crossing the perimeter.

I'm looking forward to next week! Look like Karen's going to wake Wayne up. Wha-oh!
  • Jack saves France with commodore 64

    6.4
    "Fair"
24 seems to be making a habit of Jack being less predominant and a more levelled share of air time. Possibly in an attempt to develop characters beyond jack and make them more interesting.

There were several elements that felt slightly regurgitate, Nadia and Milo, very reminiscent of Tony Almeida and Michelle Dessler from the previous seasons, the possibly leak/traitor along with the workmate vendetta feels second hand, even with the Muslim racial profiling included.

I personally didn’t like this portion of the episode, but as a male, in a shallow respect, somewhat enjoy Nadia for eye candy, so it softens the repetitiveness to a certian degree.

As with the Nadia and Milo aspect, the brief scene in which potential romance with Golden Graeme’s wife and Jack seemed recumbent, her husband died (today), her son was threatened with death, but all that seems rendered irrelevant, the information she provided regarding Jacks previous rent a girlfriend, was an interesting aspect, it’s always a pleasure to see Jack breakdown, but his resolve to avenge her, could perhaps lead to an interesting storyline, it would be nice (however improbable) to see the chine’s get there comeuppance.

The scene I liked, in a laugh out loud sense was jack, attempting to stop the drone blowing up, (those long nights playing Microsoft flight simulator paid off!)

The presidential aspect was somewhat entertaining as well, the vice president seems to encapsulate every stereotype or aspect people hate of George Bush, were as in the previous season were President Charles Logan was placed into the front line by an injured president, the same seems to be the case here, with the same concept of a madman with his “finger on the button” so to speak, there is a slight variant though for example, this vice president is extrovert and forthright, were as Logan was more introvert and willingly a puppet, still, you cant help but get a feeling of déjà vu at times with 24.

To sum up, there was almost a feeling that this episode was a filler, with rehashed situations, it was good that they focused once again, on the root of the problem, nukes, while other developments, you could with confidence, have a guess at the outcome, therefore being a waste of your time. Not a terribly bad episode, just not particularly great in comparison with other more memorable episodes.
  • Bauer's emotional side resurfaces in an episode that shows you how far a power hungry Vice President can go.

    9.2
    "Superb"
The Nadia/Milo spark contines to show itself in this episode where Vice President Daniels goes against the advice of his closest advisors to authorise a revenge attack which could start World War 3.

A great scene from Chloe, when she kisses Morris. Surprised, he asks what it was for and she replies that she was checking his breath! Expecting Chloe to be so blunt? Well would anything less have come as a surprise?!

Two things surface in this hour that we are all so familiar with in 24. 1: CTU being hacked into through an agent's station to thwart the team's efforts to avert disaster. Surely a US governmet agency like this would have a good enough computer system to protect from outside intrusion like this by now! And 2: That famous line is uttered, "within the hour". God only knows how many times in the past 6 seasons that line has been said but we now know that next week we have a US-led nuclear attack to look forward to - all courtesy of Daniels!

So all in all, an episode that I felt was building up to something big hopefully happening in a few hours time. But Jack had obiously not been practising enough on his PC Flight Sim at home because he didn't land the drone very well!
  • Overall, this episode has some good points, particularly in terms of the tension surrounding the response to the terrorist threat, but some overly familiar elements get in the way of progress.

As usual for this series, it can become difficult to divorce the issues emerging in the season arc from the specific strengths and weaknesses of an individual episode. This is especially true when each new episode carries the weight of repairing previous miscues and avoiding familiar patterns. Many of the episodes thus far have been average at best, which is an unfortunate symptom of the writing woes that have plagued the series for the past couple of seasons. With less than half a season left, can the writers deliver a strong episode and begin turning the tide? With four writers involved in developing the script, it’s not a likely prospect.

After a long stint in the background, Gredenko and Fayed return to prominence as one of the nuclear bombs is ready for launch in a remote drone. The remaining two bombs, of course, are kept for a later time. In the short term, of course, there’s a target to identify and an attack to thwart.

Just as the audience had hope that the drama at CTU might finally slip into the quiet background, Milo’s decision to allow Nadia to use his access codes comes back into the picture. This feels like a plot element dropped earlier in the season to emerge when it was convenient to complicate things for CTU when the story needed a bit of a jolt. Similarly, the idea of a mole within CTU comes back into the picture. It would be an interesting twist if it wasn’t so damned familiar and tedious. As if that’s not enough, Morris and his drinking history rears its ugly head again. It was bad enough the first time, and a waste of time now.

Unfortunately, the revelation of a leak and the effect on CTU can only be dramatic and meaningful if the audience has reason to care about the characters involved. That’s simply not the case. Nadia’s gets as much screen time in this episode as she has the entire season to this point, and at no point does the audience get to know her beyond a pretty face and a few factoids.

As annoying as it is to see Mike Doyle taking on Jack’s typical role (with some nasty racism along for the ride), it makes a certain amount of sense. Jack can’t be the primary hero of the day quite yet, because he’s still dealing with his fractured self-confidence. His reaction to Audrey’s death is a perfect example of that. As with the idea of a country under siege, Jack’s personal crisis could have been handled better, but it’s good to see more of that struggle back in the spotlight. With Doyle looking more and more like Jack without a conscience, the part of him that he’s always had to keep under strict control, a showdown feels like a matter of time.

With the drone in the air, Vice President Daniels is more than ready to proceed with his aggressive plans for retaliation in the Middle East. If nothing else, he makes things interesting and makes a massive escalation more than a possibility. Had the intensity of the terrorist activity in the premiere been maintained, this mentality might be more frightening.

Karen Hayes’ return to the political picture isn’t well explained, but it makes sense that she and Tom would get a chance to spar from their respective corners with a new executive in command. Wayne was more predisposed to Karen’s point of view, which forced Tom into desperate action. Now Karen faces Daniels, who is more predisposed to Tom’s point of view. This poses an interesting question: how far will Karen go to prevent an action she deems beyond extreme?

Planned or unplanned, this is an interesting direction for the season arc to take, even if it doesn’t quite fall along the national security/civil liberty lines that were established early in the season. Now the debate is retaliation vs. diplomacy. Still, putting the president’s life at risk is the kind of extreme measure that puts her into uneasy territory, not unlike Tom and his blackmail schemes.

Just like the previous episode where Jack defused the second nuclear device, there’s never a moment of doubt that Jack will stop the drone from detonating over San Francisco. In fact, it’s such a given that it would have been more intense and shocking if he had failed. The end result is the same in terms of Daniels’ reaction, however, so it just makes his decision more questionable.

Part of the problem is that the initial detonation in Valencia is now beginning to feel like the climax of the season, with the rest of the story as an extended and fragmented denouement. Some ongoing concepts are still viable, but other plot elements seem tossed on the wind. For example, whatever happened with Logan at the end of the previous episode? It’s as if Logan was never involved in the story at all! That’s why it’s so hard to judge individual episodes this season; the glaring issues with the whole are impossible to ignore.

OMG I can't believe that Aundrey is dead! She can't be dead! There has to be some kind of mistake! I felt so bad for Jack that no one told him because they all assumed that Fayed would kill him. Hello? He's Jack Bauer of course he's escape! And then it was Nadia's computer that had the feed to the drone hooked up. how come Milo looked so shifty when all that was happening? Was he involved? I don't want him to be the mole at CTU I like Milo! And the President is going to do a nuclear attack on another country?!? This episode totally rocked! This is the 24 that i love!
  • The terrorists launch a drone, causing reprisals from the administration. CTU has a mole, and Jack gets some terrible news.

Let me start by saying this; its taken 6 seasons but FINALLY they found a bad guy that was only a few blocks away from CTU. Praise Jebus, for once there was no need to suspend disbelief when it comes to traffic and driving time.

All jokes aside, I actually liked this episode a great deal more than the last few. The past few weeks I've been a bit let down by 24, I've felt like it was almost becoming a rip-off of itself. But last night's installment gave me a little bit of my faith back.

The plot line with Audrey really threw me for a loop. It was definitely a bummer, but it did serve the purpose of getting Jack fired up again. And anything that inspires Jack to go shoot some badguys at point-blank range is fine by me.

One thing I found odd about the episode... they totally just left the Charles and Martha Logan plotline dangling. Is Logan dead? Is Martha arrested? I guess we'll get back to that next week.

It was also gratifying to finally get some traction in the Nadia department. They've been making her suspicious and shady for so long, I'm glad they finally went somewhere with that storyline. Personally, I don't think its her, but who knows.

I had started to hedge my bets on 24 a little bit, but this episode reminded me why I watch.
  • Good episode...

I liked this episode and I thought that it was way better than last week's. One of the drone's is launched but like always jack saves the day. the vice-president wants to start another war because of the drone being launched. jack learns of some startling news, Audry is dead. I thought when after he went to see Chloe that he would break a window or something. nadia may be a leak inside CTU, but i doubt it. I don't know about anyone else but i think that agent Doyle is up to something. probably the funniest parts of the episode is when Chloe goes up and kisses morris and he asks her what that was for and she said that she was checking his breath, He replys by saying, "I love this place". Later...
  • I think this episode got us back to thinking what will or could happen. Audrey sure looked dead...but is she?? Nadia is the mole...or is she?? Milo looking guilty of something...but guilty of what??

There's a lot of people, who think that this show has become predictable, or continue to recycle old storylines. The whole CTU mole thing has been done many a times, but....it still holds impact. Just for the simple fact that we honestly don't know who it is. They tell us it's Nadia, not really sure though....so even if it's been done before, it still keeps us guessing and thinking.

The whole new story line of Audrey has brought back a suspensful twist. As Jack was looking through her file, and we see those pictures of the accident, and Audrey looking pretty dead....and finding out she actually went to China to find Jack...this really will add a big impact on the show and where it will lead us....not to mention do we really believe Audrey is really dead.

The character development of Doyle looks like it could bring us some intense moments as well. He's a hard-ass, who has a little Jack to him....grant you..he is no Jack, but it certainly looks like this can become interesting.

All in all, great episode that opened up a whole new can of worms for us to get involved in.
  • Too much explanation.

That's one of the reasons this season's even less exciting than my former least favorite season - season 4 -, the audience isn't kept in the dark as much as before. There are some plot twists (the hit on Wayne Palmer), but not big ones. There are some emotional scenes and storylines (Morris' drinking problem, the history between Jack and Marilyn), but not really gripping. But most of all (and we've seen it before in the 4th season) we can see where the story is going. We know the main bad guys, who have had a minimum of screentime the last few episodes, and their goals. On the side we have Jack's father, but it seems a stretch to assume he's the mastermind behind everything. He actually only functions as another twist, but they could've done so much more with the character.

This wasn't a bad episode though. The best scenes were once again Jack Bauer's, with Marilyn, with the drone and when he discovers (and we along with him) that Audrey was - probably - murdered.

There was a kiss between Chloe and Morris which wasn't a surprise, but sometimes that ain't bad. It was funny anyhow. There were some uninteresting scenes between the bad guys and too stretched out scenes with the vice president. And there was Nadia, accused of being a mole at CTU. Nadia can have as much screentime as she wants as far as I'm concerned. She's gorgeous. But she's not the mole.

I have been a strong supporter of 24. I have gotten nearly my entire family hooked into the show. I bought the DVDs & loved every minute of the show. Its gripping. Suspenseful & surprising.

    Until now.

Season 6 (or Day 6) just doesn't seem to be the same 24 that the last 5 days have been. I just can't seem to get into the show at all this year. Last nights was alright but nothing much happened. Anyone else believe that Nadia is the mole inside CTU & not Doyle? The only shocking thing about last night was Audrey's death. I thought she was coming back this year. So unless its a fake & that the Chinese have her even as we speak & that's not her (we actually don't see a face, only a hand). Most of the main characters this year are hardly in it at all. Wayne's sister disappeared at 1pm & now all of a sudden is in the White House watching her brother with no explanation as to what happened to her husband. Logan went flatlined & now has no explanation as to what happened to him. Show would be good if some explanations would be given. I almost thought I missed an episode as nothing was revealed with regards to Logan's fate. I won't shed a tear if he does end up dead because I couldn't stand him from the moment he first appeared on screen a few years ago. But the 24 writers could go back & say, "Hey, Logan's dead." And maybe explain where most of the characters who have gone missing for several hours have been. I hope the season picks up speed & goes back to what it was before or this may be the last year for me.
  • Jack is finally out of the Consulate and heads back to CTU where he's given a very shocking news. CTU discovers there is a leak in their office and the Vice President continues with his biased running of the Presidential Office.

I think this episode was better than last weeks though we saw less of Jack again. The Vice President planned actions is irritating in an interesting way. Karen Hayes is back in the Presidential office and even her intervention can't stop the VP from carrying out his plans. Tom Lennox continues to remain dormant and he has no choice.

Who would have thought Nadia was the leak in CTU but I think there is more to it as is always the case with 24. The drone in the air with no clues as to its target was exciting and there was the not too shocking news about Audrey Raines death. Maybe that will bring back the ruthless and merciless Jack we've come to love and Jack telling Buchanan that he's going after those behind Audrey's death gives an indication I hope of more exciting things to come this season.
  • Interesting but very average and predictable.

VP Daniels trigger finger is very very itchy and he wants to detonate 1 nuke in an unpopulated area of Fayeds home country to send a message after the incident in San Francisco as Jack Bauer once again rides in to try and save the day with rather predictable results. Most of the episode Jack was MIA.

Wheres Logan? I dunno. Dead? Alive? Meanwhile Palmer remains in a coma.

The first segment revolves around CTU trying to find out who the mole is and Nadia is fingered after her computer terminal is examined because she is from the Middle East. She denies she was feeding data to the terrorists. Is it really her? Probably not, but she sure did look hot tied up in that chair.... Id suspect the user account of the person who gave her access after her own account was disabled because of VP Daniels new rules. Chloe kisses Morris hard on the lips, allegedly to see if he has alcohol on his breath. Did we really need to see that?

Its episodes like this that gives me the feeling Season 6 really did peak when the bomb in Valencia went off and Curtis croaked. "24" is still a great show but its getting a bit long in the tooth.
  • Not much Jack. Lot's of parallels to Bush and Iraq.

When is Ricky Shroeder going to die? We all know it's going to happen before the day is over. And what about Jack's dad? I love how he just disappeared and that's the last we heard of him. Is it any coincidence that that around the anniversary of the US invading Iraq we have an episode where the "president" wants to launch a nuclear attack on a middle eastern nation that had nothing to do with the attacks on the US? Maybe so but probably not.

Both me and my wife think that Morris is the guy inside CTU helping the terrorists. Even though he helped pinpoint the location of the drone pilot I still think Morris is the guy. Remember in an earlier episode something about him not covering certain search vectors when they were trying to find Gredenko? He had a convincing reason at the time but still... my money is on Morris being the mole.
