    "Good"
This sixth season of 24 started very good, not so powerful as the previous but manages to be good. The past three episodes were fine and i was expecting this episode so highly due to i saw the amazing critics that people made.

So, i finally saw this episode. And my opinion is: good enough, but not one of the best.

Inside the episode, there are some moments that are unforgettable, and Curtis´sacrifice works very well. Inside this episode, its last 10 or 15 minutes will be remember as one of the best moments in 24 history. Okay. But i was also expecting that the all episode were fine too. And i found a good episode, yes, but not fine at all due to some stupid moments (Milo and Morris argument) and a slow start at the beginning in my opinion. Disappointing. 7/10.
  • The first four episodes are predictable and not emotionally gripping like the early seasons. Pretty boring for an action show.... (spoilers)

    "Terrible"
Due to the FOX network's thrilling promos, many excited reviews by like-minded TV critics, and the enthusiastic gushing of my peers, I was starting to get pretty excited about the new season of 24, despite the fact that I feel like I've been watching it go downhill for the past two

seasons. I guess I should trust my own intuition more, because at this early stage, season six looks like it could be the worst yet. There's plenty of time to turn it around, but so far it's been pretty boring for an action series.

In the past couple years, 24 seems to have found a pattern that works for its viewers, and the four-episode season premiere has already given the audience what it wants. We've seen a surprising new relationship, a fiery explosion, a good-guy-turns-out-bad revelation, the death of a well-known character, and Jack going rogue (and subsequently being

forgiven). Nevertheless, I would hardly call the season opener "thrilling." We've seen this all before, and we know the drill. Not only did the action seem predictable throughout, but the pacing didn't even give us time to care about what happens to the characters. Ahmed is a terrorist? I had no reason to believe he wasn't. Chloe dated Milo? That

side plot better have a payoff later in the season. Unfortunately, it seems like the new trend of writing as they go along causes problems for the continuity of the plot as well as the likelihood of the audience becoming invested in any new characters or the peril they may stumble into.

As the writers yearn to remind us, no character on 24 is sacred. But did they seriously think we wouldn't suspect something from the first moment Curtis finally displayed a shred of a personality? (Okay, maybe it was the fact that he was listed as a guest star that clued me in.) He's been a regular character since season four, but besides stoically going along with Jack and/or CTU on mission after dangerous mission, his character is not particularly well-developed. His sketchy behavior this season certainly didn't warrant the swelling operatic solo following his unfortunate death.

Jack's response seems reasonable, though. Not that he hasn't killed coworkers in the past...but this time is different. He seemed to be going a little nutty even before spending 20 months in a Chinese prison, so it's natural that he would want to bail on CTU after only a couple hours back in the field. I don't see him staying out for long, though, so these new, complicated feelings he's experiencing probably won't last until the next nuke.

Speaking of which, the last moments of the four-episode arc held the most promise. Despite the acts of terrorism and WMD in seasons past, I never thought I would see the fictional president and CTU agents react to something so large-scale. The ensuing chaos should be intriguing to watch: I look forward to seeing the series speculate on the nation's

response to such a disaster. So despite the sinking feeling that I'm being cheated into following 24 simply because Jack Bauer is just that cool, it shouldn't be hard to give this season another chance.
  • Best episode of the season with an extremely dramatic ending twist!

This season has started very well, althought is not as masterpiece than the previous season.

But the season finest episode appears so quickly: now and here.

Despite this episode is not at all perfect due to some stupid dialogues between Chloe, Milo and Morris and the tension is not being so powerfull, the little but extremely importants details such the ending of this one helps the episode very well to track the audience and hooked all of them to follow all the season and also put them at the edge of their seats.

It´s one of the Jack´s most remarkables and hard challenges.

    Don´t miss it!.
  • This episode marks a important event that nobody will ever forget and in 24 pedestal is one of the best episodes of 24. Impossible for me to Rate this episode with an 10, when there is a filler like Sandra Palmer and Morris ridiculous discussion.

Presentation Phase - » (9/10). With so many successful terrorist attacks, this time the presentation of the threat have more meaning than ever. The phone call between Jack and Wayne was nice to see. Complication Phase - » (9/10). Curtis is one of the problems, because of his past with Assad, Ahmed plot was interesting, since this was the last setup of the complication and was very well tied to the Main plot, Sandra Palmer plot is pure filler, and we have the nuclear bomb and how Jack and CTU can find it before the device is active, so I can say that their situation is very complicated.

Climax Phase - » (10/10). Whoo, poor Curtis, this was simple beautiful and rare to see in 24.

Suspense/Tension - » (10/10). Curtis situation and when CTU agents tried to recover the bomb. I doubt that this season could create another tension in this level for the rest of the season-

Drama - » (10/10). OMG, what Jack is forced to do for this nation, this was simple beautiful. Curtis expression says all, poor Curtis.

Action - » (10/10). Ahmed provided some tactical action and in the last scenes, we have more action, with a unexpected consequence.

Ending - » (10/10). What happened was unexpected and something rare to see in 24, that make this episode one of the Best produced in 24.

Surprises/Shocks/Twists - » (10/10). One of the most shocking episode of 24, if not the most shocking.

Time and Scene Management - » (9/10). Unfortunately, The scenes management was not perfect for me, Morris and Milo discussion was pure filler, Sandra Palmer filler continues to be annoying, but the quality/relevant material don´t allow me to drop my rate for this episode.

Plot Details/Holes- » (10/10). This episode had some amazing scenes that I didn´t notice any flaws that could turn me off.

What I liked -» Curtis and Jack scenes. The ending.

What I Didn´t Liked -» Sandra Palmer scenes, and her boyfriend.

This episode marks a important event that nobody will ever forget and this episode will be put in 24 pedestal as one of the best episodes of 24. Impossible for me to Rate this episode with an 10, when there is a filler like Sandra Palmer and Morris ridiculous discussion.
  • Wow.. they still manage to shock the viewers, even after so many shocking things trough the years.

Ok.. I had no idea this was going to be like that.. it started like just another good episode with action, some tension, new mysteries.. but the way it turns.. first it was the main clash between Curtis and Assad. It was so visible that there was some bad blood between them but something like that - I never even thought and it was so logical from that point on what will happen - Curtis, taking his stand and Jack, killing him. I liked the reaction of Jack, crawling away.. troughing up.. Curtis was his friend.. a great man, good agent.. and he had to choose.. it was hard one..

So, I thought.. ok - that was the top of this episode but no.. they turn it all upside down next moment.. with nuke...

A perfect episode must impress more than only in the final act. Here, well…what an awesome final act.

First, what leads up to that? Ahmed's storyline meets Jack's and concludes soon thereafter. Then we've got Hasan Numair, who gets the trigger component and starts work on the suitcase nuke. Don't mind Fayed; he's just leaving for the thinly veiled reason that a Bigbad can't die in only the fourth episode.

And let's talk about the pardon granted to Assad and the revelation of his history with Curtis. Guess it's about time they got around to giving some character development (that doesn't involve a dumb love interest) to the least-developed main character in the show's run, making him behave quite differently from his usual self. So differently that it heavily affects the plot for a scary little while. This and Numair's arc culminate in two gigantic shocks in the closing minutes.

Well, we've certainly started with several bangs here, in keeping with the show's nature. Most shows, but especially ones like this, have an obligation to do bigger and better things every season. Have these precursory four episodes been bigger? I would say so. Better? Not necessarily. But that doesn't diminish the epic scale that S6 has presented thus far. It's just too bad the writers don't quite follow it up to its full potential.

This episode is definitely one of the most exciting of the sixth season of "24." The closing scene of this episode is one of the most well made scenes of the series. The excitement just doesn't stop in this episode from start to finish. I could not give it a perfect score because of some minor flaws. The whole grudge match between Morris O'Brien and Milo was a problem. Jack unnofficially resigning after being forced to kill Curtis was another. However, these flaws are as I said minor and don't effect the overalll excitement of a terrific episode of "24."

Classic, have just this minute finished watching the first 4 episodes of the new series, and without giving anything away, I am happy to report that this series looks to be just as exciting as its 5 predecessors. Excellent! Not to be missed.

I admit that half way through the first episode I was more than a little upset, but by the end of the episode I was more than happy with where the story looked to be going.

And, with all the previous series I was completely wrong about where the story was going.

However, for those of you out there that have not seen some or all of the previous series, I strongly recommend you go back and watch all of them in order. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Like millions of others out there, I know that Jack Bauer is probably the
  • An awesome episode.

    "Superb"
Compared to the previous seasons, Season 6 is the weakest one. But yet, there are some great episodes in it. This one forms part of those great episodes.

With some pretty unpredictable , intense and emotional events..it was an awesome episode.

I did not think the terrorist would succeed in their task. Pretty much surprising. The cliffhanger was awesome, did not see that coming. This is how cliffhangers should be.

This episode was also very emotional...in fact Jack shooting Curtis was another event that I did not see coming. Yeah its Jack BAUER but yet, I did not expect that.

Petty much unpredictable episdoe that I have highly enjoyed.
  • This episode is unquestionably the best episode of Season Six and quite possibly the best episode of the series.

    10
    "Perfect"
I'll be perfectly honest. What makes this episode so memorable is the last ten minutes. The rest of the episode is good and intense, particularly with the hostage situation. But the final act of this episode is absolutely amazing.

I'll start with Curtis. Throughout the last two hours, we can tell that there's been a lot of tension building up between Curtis and Assad. For some unknown reason, Curtis hates Assad, something unusual for him, as he is normally the one who is calm and reins Jack in. Roger Cross plays this part excellently. At the end of the episode, we finally discover the truth about Curtis and Assad's past. This leads to the death of Curtis, but no one could have expected him to die like he did. Curtis' death was very shocking. What was so unexpected was the way in which he died. Never in a million years would I have dreamed that Jack Bauer would kill Curtis. But he did. The music directly after Curtis dies is amazing, with a sole female vocalist.

But we then move to the most shocking moment of the series. The nuclear bomb. The peak of Season Six. The bomb blowing up was probably one of the biggest creative gambits the writers had ever taken. But it paid off in spades (at the time). The scenery of it was absolutely amazing. I was sitting there dumbfounded. I even knew that it was gonna happen, and I was still stunned and shocked by it. The music (carrying over from the death of Curtis) was once again absolutely stunning, particularly with the female solo.

The crowning achievement of this episode is Kiefer Sutherland's performance. It's particularly ironic that the Golden Globe Awards aired the same night as this episode. Sutherland was nominated, but did not win. I was saying the next day that the voting committee must not have seen that episode. Sutherland was absolutely amazing at the end of the episode. I loved the weakness he portrayed, something in stark contrast to the Jack Bauer we know.

Overall, this episode is one of the best and most unforgettable of the series. Utilizing amazing performances by Kiefer Sutherland and Roger Cross, a shocking character death, and a completely unexpected turn of events with the nuclear bomb, this episode will go down in 24 history as one of the best.

OMG...It's a very big pleasure to watch this show...

After watching all the 5 season i've been waiting big, soo big brand new season. And i got all the things i wanted. 2 hours 2 nights premiere was a big idea and big prize for us -24 addicts- And in this episode everything; emotions, tears, feelings made peak. Shoting Curtis, Jack's collapsing feelings, the bomb goes off and seeing the fear in Jack's eyes (add this great scene wonderfull background music from The movie Crash -...safe now- the song's name is very meaningfull) I could not move in my chair a couple of minutes, ... The 24 team you are great...fabulous...

    "24 Day Six 8:00AM-10:00AM"

    Airdate: Monday, January 15th 8:00PM-10:00PM

Blew last night's first two hours out of the water. Everything about it was what makes 24 so great. From Jack causing a "traffic incident" to track a suspect, to the twist at the end of Hour 3 that freed the nuclear scientist, to the stunning final ten minutes, it was 24 at its finest. Even the side plots with Akkkkhmed and the Wallace family as well as the Sandra Palmer and Walid story were picking up and greatly contributed to the outcome of the premiere.

Classic Jack within the opening minutes of the episode. "Don't get up!" Jack screams at an innocent after throwing them to the ground and stealing their car as part of a tracking operation to follow a terrorist suspect. This followed shortly after by an intentional collision with the suspect's car allowing Assad, terrorist turned statesman as Tom Lennox nicely puts it, to drive the suspect to his destination. "You saying I don't know how to drive?!" Jack asks after the crash.

So then after the terrorist blows himself up before he can lead Jack to Fayed, since that's what they usually do, it's discovered that Fayed is planning to assemble a suitcase nuke with the help of a nuclear scientist being released from a military prison along with 100 plus other terrorists by order of Fayed's demand to President Palmer (wasn't it just a few seasons ago that the REAL President Palmer wouldn't release ONE terrorist from prison?). But in any event, even stopping the release of the prisoners just in time didn't stop the escape of the man Fayed needed, because one should've known that nearly three hours into Jack Bauer's next horrible day and there hasn't been a mole yet something was wrong.

Now with the scientist free, the suitcase nuke detonation rested in the hands of the young TIT (Terrorist in Training), Akkkkkhmed, who's taken his friend's family hostage because they can't pronounce his name right. He's ordered the boy's father to pick up the component needed to assemble the nuke and deliver it to Fayed, giving his assurances that he'll let his family go and they'll all live happily ever after, like all nice terrorists promise.

Speaking of terrorists promising things, Assad might be one of the most unique characters 24 has ever had. Despite leading the cause of terrorism over the past 20 years, Assad has taken a stand to renounce terrorism and begin a resolution towards peace. The only problem is, years back he was responsible for beheading some of Curtis' team members. But that soon will just be a problem for Curtis because Jack gave the president his WORD that he would protect him.

    Curtis: Well I didn't.

Jack: Curtis, please, don't do this.

Curtis: I can't let this animal live.

Jack: This might sting a little.

Bam. Bullet to the throat. Curtis is dead.

Another decision for Jack that would make any normal person want to kill themselves followed by another scene that should already clinch Kiefer's Emmy this year. "Tell the president I'm sorry. I can't... do this... anymore." Ah don't worry Jack, a nuke's going off in a few minutes. You'll be back...

So yea, we already knew 24 didn't have any limits, but new meaning was brought to that motto when they nuked the LA suburb of Valencia at the end of the four-hour-premiere. Those crazy fans like me will remember Jack telling Chloe at the beginning of Season 4 that Kim moved to Valencia. One can only hope she's still living there with her psychiatrist twice her age boyfriend. I mean, that's horrible, I love Kim.

But now looking back at it, with this being the first successful terrorist attack on 24 that's killed thousands of people (closest the virus attack in Season 3 that killed hundreds), is it really as big a deal as it is? I mean, yea the thought of a nuke going off in real life is something devastating to think about, but is anyone seriously going to care that thousands of fictional strangers were killed? For me, Jack having to kill Curtis was the biggest shocker at the end. Mainly because it's the death of a character we've known over the past three seasons, and of course affected our hero we've known since the start of the series. This is why Season One is and will forever be the best season. The threat was centered primarily around Jack, his family, and Palmer: characters we care about. Yes, while the threats feel real, and 24 does that to perfection, people are still going to be more affected by what happens to the characters the show's focused around rather than the fictional nameless citizens we're watching them try to protect.

Either way you look at it, a nuke going off on a TV show is still unheard of, even for 24. The season has a very real feel to it, borderline the real feel of the first two seasons. I still think overall last year's four-hour opener was better, but I'm definitely liking the direction this season is going.

    Overall Episode(s) Rating: 9.3
  • Tough decisions and their consequences.

    9.5
    "Superb"
A good name for this episode could be "Tough decisions"...The first one would be the pardon of Assad by The President in exchange for his cooperation, another would be the shooting of Curtis by Jack in order to prevent him from taking revenge on Assad for his past crimes...Another would be the decision taken by Scott's mother to announce the police that her son was being held captive by Ahmed...Jack fills bad after having to shoot Curtis and decide to retire, but unfortunately the lead that CTU received by Scott's mother results in a nuclear bomb being detonated...This is a great example of how an episode should be written...I liked it a lot ...9.5/10.
  • Are you kidding me?

    3.0
    "Bad"
Really?! A 9.7 for this episode? But this has all been done before on 24. And the series has become so cliche and a real bore this season. This episode had no intensity, it was highly predictable and almost made me give up my steady 24 viewing. Why is everyone so easily satisfied this season? Season 5 was SO much better. I almost go so far as to call this episode terrible. Side note: and Fox News' bomb scare coverage afterward this episode was an absolute joke. Since when is 24 real life? People, c'mon.
  • .The.Greatest.Episode.Of.24.History.

    9.9
    "Superb"
This episode was so powerful, well written and clever as always and really emotive and involving. It's an upbeat, exciting episode from the start. The whole episode is adrenaline pumping. But when we see the situation which Jack Faces between Curtis and Asaad we would never have suspected the outcome. I couldn't believe my eyes or ears. The instant Jack made that choice it evidently affected him beyond comparison to anything to date. We see jack as we have NEVER seen him before, emotional, lost and just in pieces.

Just a few minutes later Jack witnesses the worst Terrorist attack in 24 History. A Nuclear Bomb going of in the city of Los Angeles. When I saw the Tactical teams going in to dismantle the operation I was extremely confident that they were going to save the day just in time. I was wrong... Very Wrong. This however is what makes 24 The best show on television. You NEVER know what's coming. And it's realistic, the good guys don't win all the time. Jack breaks down one step further, but it also motives him into stopping more of the same. He is a true hero.

This was a really good episode. It was probbably the best one of season 6 so far.It was more exciting than all the others.I loved where the terrorist kept the innocent family hostage while he sent the father to do his work.It was really exciting because Assad had to work witgh Jack.We didn't really know if we could trust him or not.We then see that the Jack had to shoot an old freind to protect assad. After this Jack was sick and didn't want to work for CTU anymore. The end was by far the most exciting when the bomb went off.It was really coool. It was only the second nuclear bomb ever to go off on the show!
  • Mind-blowing, it's almost like episode 12 in season 5, beginning so-so..but in the last 10 minutes makes up for everything

    "Perfect"
So if you want me to sum this episode up in 100 words, the chance of that is unlikely. I'm left speechless by it, and it feels like I've been punched twice in the stomach in the same place. First, Curtis, a much loved 24 character gets killed off, then a nuclear bomb? FTW?! Wow. No wonder this show runs better uninterupted with no reruns. The look on everyone's face when the bomb goes off will match yours...it's like "I can't believe it", but it totally just happened. May go down as one of the best 24 epsodes ever, but the chance of it being above the season 1 finale or the mid-season shocker of season 5 is unlikely.
  • The episode started out kind of so-so. Then the last ten minutes changed everything.

    9.9
    "Superb"
At first this episode didn't do much for me. In fact, larger part of it didn't. There were several characters that annoyed me, character decisions I felt were bad and twists in the story I didn't like. Then towards the end of the episode it started making sense, and things that had annoyed me didn't anymore. By the end, this was one of the best episodes of "24" ever.

Chloe really is Jack's go-to girl. Mary Lynn Rajskub has said that in her opinion Chloe has a crush on Jack, which makes for an interesting approach. She's in a way become his new Tony, the one person he can always count on. I'm still hoping that Tony is secretly alive still, but so long as we have no real reason to think that he is Chloe does a great job of filling that role for Jack.

Numer says he had to be careful "crossing the city". So he's crossed the city in the ten minutes that have passed since we last saw him? Now that was some fast work.

Ahmed is chewing the pain pills. Nobody CHEWS pain pills, they don't exactly taste like chocolates. Notice that he's also finished the entire can. Perscripted pain pills would kill him if he took that many. Ahmed is obviously not the sharpest crayon in the box.

Go Ray though! There's a sharper crayon. I'm liking this guy. Ahmed was kind of clever though with the hostage thing, I have to admit that. But still, I'm liking Ray more and more. Did anyone notice btw that Bucannan called his wife Gillian Wallace, rather than Julia Wallace?

For some reason I don't buy Chloe and Milo.

Interesting choice to go with a nuclear threat again. So far it hasn't been a repeat of season two, except for in positive ways. Wayne Palmer seems to be thinking back on when his brother had to deal with a nuclear threat. I have a feeling that there will be many "what would David have done?" moments along the way. And as predicted, the good old Palmer faith in Jack Bauer is back on track. It was kind of comic though to hear Palmer add a "please" when he asked Assad to put Jack back on line. And kind of cute to hear Palmer needing Bauer's agreement that he made the right choice. I liked Palmer's comment to Lennox, about appreciating his loyalty. A very David Palmer thing to say.

I couldn't help but chuckle when Lennox said that "the logic is compelling." Guess I've been watching "Numbers" too much lately.

What a thing for Ahmed to say... "Don't make this any harder than it is". Sure, that makes sense from Scott's point of view. Let's try to make it easy for your former friend to kill you, after he's held your family hostage and left your father with terrorists. If I were Scott I'd want to make it as hard as possible for Ahmed. And I wouldn't turn around on Ahmed's command either, since he would kill me either way. In the end though, turns out the Wallace family are all more clever than Ahmed.

Walid is another sharp crayon. I'm starting to like him. I'm not that fond of Sandra Palmer though. I agree with everything she says about civil rights, but I don't like her way of approaching things. In some creepy way she reminds me of Sherry.

At the beginning of the episode I just wanted Curtis to grow up and do his job. By the end of the episode I felt so bad for him. I really, really hope Jack won't have to regret his choice. Roger Cross did an amazing job in this episode, especially in the last scenes. It was a very powerful end segment with Jack and Curtis. The music was great, the choice to have little dialogue and let the actors handle it with their body language, the whole set up... A really excellent scene. I wonder if Audrey will be brought in to help Jack now.

And an even more powerful ending followed. I really didn't think they had it in them. Wow.
  • Bad police work

After getting word of the hostage location the should have started tracing telephone calls to and from the house. If they had, they would have had a trace directly to the cellphone of the terrorist, and would be able to track his movement. They had satelite coverage but not the wits to track cellphones? Silly. Oh, and the Oscar for worst female actor ever goes to Mary Lynn Rajskub in the role of Chloe O'Brian. What on earth is she doing with her face? Trying to look catatonic? I wish someone would just edit her out of the episodes for me. :)
  • Uh...What just happened with Curtis?

    8.0
    "Great"
The episode overall was pretty interesting, especially as the tailend to the four-hour premier. But the whole thing with Curtis near the end seemed sorta rushed, especially considering how quickly everybody else around Jack was able to get over it.

I don't know how long this was planned, but it's something that should've been addressed in earlier seasons. I don't remember if we were ever told of Curtis' time in Desert Storm, but I feel like they didn't do a good job of setting this up aside from the sudden and convienent timing of Chloe's call to Jack.

I'd have rather heard Curtis' story hinted out earlier...sometime last year when some focus was on him. Or perhaps some mentions of it even earlier in the season (perhaps in the first few episodes when he's talking with Jack). As it stands now the whole concept was introduced, peaked, and resolved within really five minutes or so. Not enough time to warrant the type of 180 that eventually cost Curtis his life.

It made for an intense scene, but it was handled way to predictably once the hints at a past between Hassan and Manning were given during this episode.

This was the most jaw dropping episode I have ever seen, there were others but really I couldn’t believe it! I was so surprised that they would detonate a nuclear bomb in a public city, and that isn’t even where they really planned to set it off. I was in shock; I had no idea what Jack would do next. Then, Jack said he couldn’t do this anymore which we all know isn’t jack and I was just stunned. I was so surprised even Curtis died. Over Curtis and a Terrorist Jack choose the terrorist. I know I would do the same thing in Jack’s situation but it was just too much to look at, it was so suspenseful and I just loved the whole episode, I just couldn’t wait until I saw the next one. Overall I would rate this episode an A+, if there was a higher grade I would have given it to him!
  • Great episode.

Ray brings the component to a warehouse hoping that he'll get his family out of the hostage situation. Milo and Morris get into a heated argument, but Chloe steps in and breaks up the fight. Walid overhears a conversation inside the detention center and passes on the information to the FBI. Wayne agrees to pardon Assad in exchange for his full cooperation. Jillian gives an address to the CTU agents that might help them capture Fayed. This is an exciting episode, it leads to something else, it's a roller coaster ride, it's really entertaining, and waiting for more episodes to come.
  • Exhilarating.

Most shows are either canceled or heading downhill by the 6th season mark, But 24 is still going strong, this episode is a good example of why. This series proves that characters that are liked and are common faces in the show can be gone like that, without any warning. Most popular shows stick to the stereotype that only the bad guy gets killed, maybe this is why 24 is so addictive to watch. The magnitude of the events that happen in this episode are stunning. 24 Never fails to dissapoint, Kudos to the writers & creators, thanks for a show that packs more action into one episode then we see in most shows entire runs.
  • OMG...It's a very big pleasure to watch this show...

  • Jack is working with an unlikely partner to track down Fayed, but someone at ctu really isn't happy about this partnership

This is by far the best espisode of 24 I've ever watched the storyline was just great and the twists the came with it were perfect, although the idea of a softer less tougher jack bauer we are all used to was a bit strange it mixed in well with the whole plot and proved to be quite interesting. This episode was quite interesting and it kept me on the edge of my seat, the shows producers proved with this episode that they really know what they are doing and if this is a sign of things to come, season six should be great.
  • The creative hook designed by the writers and producers continues to hold me to the best program on TV. Awards & Kudos

One problem that many creative shows have had is that the writers/producers seem to run out of challenges as the series matures (Miami Vice, Alias, West Wing). 24 continues to hold great promise as a challenging emotional ride. The story line continues to take both anticipated turns that leads us to the "explosive" twist that grabs our attention and gives a regular WOW factor that keeps us coming back for more and planning our lives around how to not miss a moment of the show. 24 is my Sunday, Monday and Thursday night football combined into one hour a week.
  • Excellent acting, a lot of action, two big shocking events, and some involuntary humor, made this the perfect 24 episode.

Plot: Jack, with the help of Assad, try to discover the location of the nuclear weapon that is on the loose whereas Curtis is not very pleased with this decision. Meanwhile, Ahmed after having kidnapped the Wallace’s, orders Ray to retrieve an item and deliver it to Fayed, in order to let his family live. Of course, amidst all the chaos, death and destruction, Milo and Morris have time to measure the size of their… egos, inside CTU.

    Opinion:

The first three hours of the 6th day where not as intense as I was expecting, but in the end of the fourth hour, I was totally in the bandwagon and of course I am expecting to see how the rest of the day develops itself, and what other surprises the writers have in store for us. I really think that Kiefer Sutherland is one of the greatest TV actors right now, and this episode only helps cementing his grand stature, as he makes Jack Bauer the most compelling agent in the world. He has endured almost everything, from torture to the passing of practically all his loved ones and of course being sacrificed for the greater good, but in the end, what he has to do to save Assad, will left and incredible burden in him, specially considering that he is weak after having an 18-month vacation in a China prison, and Mr. Sutherland made it look as real as possible, you feel what Jack is feeling. Also I like the way that David’s shadow is lurking behind Wayne’s presidency, all the more poignant when Sandra mentions his name or when we look his pictures in Wayne’s office, but I feel that Wayne has made wrong decisions, even when Jack advises him to do the opposite. It seems that Wayne has not realized that the terrorist parade that has graced the world of 24, always have ulterior motives. I hope that Wayne begins taking the right decisions. I didn’t like Milo or for that matter Morris all that much when they were introduced in CTU, but I have to be completely honest when I tell you that I was really laughing out loud when Chloe stops a fight of those two by addressing the “real problem” between them, namely: herself. Really, it was amusing the way Chloe tells Milo that he has not move on, and Morris that he is jealous of Milo and Chloe dating sometime ago. Of course when each one of them, try to assure the other one, that Chloe is not the problem was just the cherry of the cake. She’s really a very interesting character and sometimes she is just lovable. SPOILER WARNING

The big event in this episode was, of course, the explosion of a nuclear weapon in plain LA, and although I was already waiting for it to happen, mostly because of news and critics that announced something shocking at the end of the fourth hour, I really was moved by the sudden way all things took place. I think Ray could have acted more heroic and try to impede the explosion, instead of just screaming his lungs out, but it was nevertheless a very big event, that is driving what I think will be a very interesting day, an even more, knowing that “4 more of those things are out there”

Having said that, the biggest surprise for me was the demise of Curtis. I know that we have to be prepared for any death in this series, because its motto is “We kill anyone, at anytime, almost without warning”, but it was really astonishing to see Curtis being killed by no other than Jack. I remember that I feared for Curtis’ live during Day 5, and I was getting prepared for his departure, but now I was caught off-guard. Anyway, the same has happened before, I didn’t want David, Sherry, Tony, Michelle, Edgar or Terry (mmm just a little) dead.

    END OF SPOILER

    Bottom Line:

An excellent episode that just gets things started for the 6th longest day of Jack Bauer.

Man, this show is amazing. When Curtis was killed, all the past and the irony of that were sitting in my mind. The episode was about to wrap up and I was already starting to rough draft what I was going to write here: "Isn't it sadly ironic that Curtis, who put his life on the line for America, now is killed for America, because they choose to deal with his old enemy, a terrorist who brutally murdered his men." That ending alone would have at least netted this episode an 8 or 9. The nuclear bomb actually going off on American soil only 20 minutes from a populated city. WOW. Talk about gripping. I don't think anyone who watches this episode can wait until next week. This is what TV should be.

Plot: Jack and Assad build on their budding romance while following up on a lead. Curtis gets jealous and unable to share in the glory of living in Jack’s shadow; he takes a bullet to the throat. A nuke goes off in LA. That last part was a tad nonchalant.

This season is turning out amazing! I’m like, holy **** since when do series get more interesting and original with age? I have been disappointed many times by aging dramas; Lost, I’m looking long and hard in your direction. That’s what she said. Sorry, couldn’t resist. I know this is the second time a Nuke has gone off in the US (season 2 but in the desert) but tell me you weren’t thrilled when that happened. Jack had been beaten down by the Chinese. I admit I had my doubts if he could live up to the high standards of last seasons body count of roughly fifty men killed in a single day. However, all those doubts were washed aside in a mushroom cloud of glory as Jack Bauer will now arise from the ashes, born anew from the nuclear flame and reclaim his title as judge, jury and executioner.

Back at the hostage situation, Ahmed is getting weak from the loss of blood, plus as we all know, his hatred for freedom will ultimately be his undoing. Unable to make the delivery, he sends the father out, who actually kills a man in order to complete his mission. The previously meek father, emboldened by smashing a man’s head in over a computer chip, bargains Ahmed into letting his wife go. Apparently, he loves his son more than his wife. Idiot, you can always make more kids with your wife. What the hell are you going to do with that goober of a son you got? Ahmed specifically told the mom before she left not to call the cops, but being a crazy ass **** she immediately does just that. A swat team quickly arrives and kills Ahmed. I’ll smoke a fatty for you Kumar, keep getting work! At least this time you had some dialogged as opposed to your brief, but powerful role in Superman Returns.

Assad and Jack continue their enjoyable, odd ball relationship. After some amusing antics involving a staged car accident, the two manage to track one of Fayd’s men to an abandoned warehouse. Why do we constantly leave this decrypted factories and storefronts unguarded? Our national security is in the hands of loyalist hobos that keep these stereotypical terrorist havens secure. A nuclear specialist that managed to escape in the previous episode during the prisoner release is held up here. The terrorists have in their passion several suitcase nukes that they acquired from the always vigilant Soviets. Curtis has some serious beef with Assad. Aside from his obvious jealous over being replaced as Jack’s ethnic sidekick, Curtis goes out of his way to hint that he will kill Assad. To be fair, Assad’s men beheaded most of Curtis’s army unit in the Gulf war. When it becomes clear that Assad is not going to be punished, and in fact has received a full pardon from President Palmer for his cooperation, Curtis decides to try to kill him. Which immediately results in Jack taking him down. Chloe, you are pretty much the only original cast member left so watch your back. There can be only one!

Please note that while clearly stricken with grief and anguish over the slaying of Curtis, Jack does not actually cry. Jack never cries, even when his wife was murdered, but if he were cable of producing tears, they would be acid or poison based so as to kill the person that cause him pain.
