NSA is still attempting to find the nuclear rods, though Dana sabotages the scans long enough for the satellites to lose track of the taxi, which frustrates Chloe. As Jack is treating his injured ribs, he receives a call from President Taylor, who is taking him off the mission to find the rods. She wants him to get Hassan and his family to safety, and Renee insists that she be a part of the escort.
As the bomb is being assembled, Samir gets in touch with President Taylor again, telling her to hand over Hassan or else he will detonate the bomb. Taylor goes against the advice of her staff and refuses to negotiate. Weiss suggests that she at least consider the offer, but she's sticking to her decision. After this meeting, General Bruckner talks to Weiss, suggesting that they covertly "kidnap" Hassan and hand him over to Samir.
However, they would need information found on Ethan's computer, with the security detail for the Hassan evacuation. Weiss is initially reluctant, but soon agrees. While Weiss is in the middle of downloading the data, Ethan returns, but his panic triggers a heart attack and he collapses. Bruckner and Weiss keep working.
Jack and Renee work with the Secret Service to help evacuate Hassan. Oddly, Jack receives a call from Ethan but can't get in touch with him. As the security detail escort Hassan and his family down an underground tunnel, shots are fired and Jack and Renee find themselves in the middle of a shootout. The Secret Service team draws the attackers' fire as Jack and Renee protect Hassan. They manage to rout out most of the enemy team, leaving only the leader conscious enough to speak. He tells them the details of their mission, and who was behind it.
Meanwhile, in the cab, Tarin finishes arming the bomb, which is set to detonate in 15 minutes.
