Episode Recap

Hastings updates President Taylor about the situation. Cole rushes out of his crushed vehicle to secure President Hassan who is unharmed. Davros (the assassin) tries but fails to approach Hassan and finish off his job. As Cole updates CTU that Hassan is alive, he notices Davros and follows him.

Farhad contacts Davros who informs him his brother survived and tells him to leave before his treachery is revealed. Farhad kills a cop in front of Hassan's wife and daughter as he runs off. Davros catches Cole and tries to use him to escape. Cole doesn't cooperate and Jack arrives and kills Davros just before he is about to kill Cole. Jack opens Davros' shirt and discovers some tatoos. He sends a video of the tatoos to CTU.

Hastings welcomes Hassan to CTU and reveals to him his brother was involved. Dana links the tatoos to a russian gang the FBI was investigating. The FBI had an undercover agent inside the Russian mob - Renee Walker.

Farhad contacts a Russian dealer, angry about Davros' failure. The man assures Farhad that the materials he'll provide him will make Hassan's survival unimportant. President Taylor's chief of staff urges her to inquire whether Hassan is still up to signing the treaty despite the circumstances. Fortunately, Hassan is determined to continue the negotiations.

Jack and Cole return to CTU, and Chloe tells Jack that Renee is coming in to CTU. Jack tells Chloe that he tried to contact Renee several times but she didn't return his calls. As Chloe talks about Renee's supposed breakdown after she left the FBI, Jack asks her not to tell Renee that he is in CTU.

Hassan arrives at the CTU forensics to thank Cole. As Cole tells him he should thank Jack and Chloe, an alarm goes off. The scanning of Davros' body reveals traces of weapons grade Uranium. Hassan believes he can shed some light on the matter.

Chloe welcomes Renee into CTU. Hassan tells Hastings that shortly after the negotiations began, his brother informed him that he was offered to buy weapons grade Uranium from some Russians. Hassan concludes that Davros' recent exposure may indicate the Uranium is on U.S. soil.

Renee briefs Chloe and Dana about the tattoos as Hastings enters. He asks Renee to go undercover again and find the Red Square group she mentioned as he believes they are in possession of the nuclear materials. In confidence, he tells Renee he can get her reinstated if she agrees to do this. Renee agrees but says she doesn't want her badge back.

As Jack comes to say goodbye to Chloe, she reveals to him that Hastings wants Renee to go back undercover. Jack tells Renee he's worried about her doing this. He lifts up her sleeve to reveal scars on her wrist. Renee remains determined to take the mission.

Hastings apologizes to Meredith Reed before she walks in to meet with Hassan. Meredith admits to Hassan that she revealed their affair in the investigation. Hassan tells her that despite having feelings for her, he realized he can't jeopardize his efforts for peace.

Jack walks in as Renee briefs the CTU team. He asks to speak with Hastings in private, but Renee insists on staying. He conveys his concern to Hastings and as there are no other options but to send Renee in, Hastings agrees to send him with her to portray the buyer instead of Cole.

Bazhaev (the Russian dealer) talks with his son who expresses concerns about Farhad's arrival. Farhad arrives and demands to see proof that Bazhaev has the nuclear rods. Bazhaev takes him to a back room, showing him his younger son who was exposed to radiation as result of mishandling the rods. Farhad is satisfied and asks to supervise the loading of the rods.

Chloe prepares a cover story for Renee and Jack. She transfers the cover story to Renee and Jack and asks to review it with them. Renee is upset by the request as she thinks Jack doesn't believe she can do this. Jack says he's concerned about her well being, and not about her ability to complete the mission.

Kevin calls Dana from her apartment, and starts questioning her about her relationship with Cole. He's having a tantrum as she yells at him not to call her by her former name and demands she comes over. She says she will as soon as she can. Chloe notices Dana is distraught again.

Renee and Jack arrive at the store where her contact works. Jack tells her she can still change her mind, but she wants to do this.

Renee's contact, Ziya, is surprised to see her, but seems to buy her story. He says he can't help her find Vladimir and shows her he has a parole tracking bracelet. She tells him she can take the bracelet off and puts his arm in a vise. Ziya tells her she can't cut the bracelet. She grabs a circular saw and tells him she doesn't plan on cutting the bracelet. As Jack hears what's happening on his comm, he rushes into the store. He finds Ziya lying bleeding on the floor, his thumb cut off. He yells at Renee that Ziya won't agree to help them after this. Renee is not worried and tells Jack to find something to cauterize the wound.
