I read on this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/24_%28TV_series%29 that the 24 movie is not going ahead, due to the main plot line of the movie being used in a recent episode.

    Can anyone confirm this/un-confirm this???

Be aware now, Wikipedia is one of the worst places to get "reliable" information.

Here's a question you can ask yourself. "Since when did Wikipedia user's start posting Insider Information on an "encyclopedia?"

If this was true, you can bet movie sites would have reported it.

I believe the original goal was to shoot a movie after Season 5 finished. However, the producers and Kiefer thought it was too soon and would be rushing it, so instead they used the idea in an episode this season.

lol, since anybody can edit wikipedia information, it's less likely to be true then if it was released by a reliable source. I guess we'll find out soon, although I really hope they continue with the movie

Kiefer Sutherland has been doing alot of interviews/guest spots for talk shows over the last two weeks promoting "The Sentinel" and he said that he was looking forward to doing a 24 movie.

I forget where, but he's also mentioned wanting to get back to the big screen (as Jack Bauer and as other characters in other movies). While being Jack Bauer on the big screen is great, I think Kiefer wants to be a movie star again. The long term goal for him is to return to the big screen when 24 (TV/movie) is over and done with.

It's a pretty good plan for him. He's already a big name (some might say household name) playing Jack Bauer. With that much clout on the small screen, the big screen should be an easier transition for him (despite being a movie star before 24).

I just hope he doesn't get typecasted as a Jack Bauer-type character for the rest of his career.

Not what I have heard recently.
Pretty sure they plan to do the movie after Season 6, and it'll be released after Season 7.

Or thats what they hope to do right now.

I'm not sure it'll ever happen I just hope it will.  Its a good chance for them to do some 24 stuff overseas.

Why not try IMDB for official info about the 24 movie.

If the movie is cancelled, I wouldn't be suprised if they waited for the series to run its course until they made one.

First off IMDB is just as bad as wikipedia and secondly no it is not cancelled. It is a bunch of made up bs. One of the wirters did say that they can't start a plot line for the movie because they'd probably end up using it in the current season. But other than that it is bs. The movie is still on and will come out by 2008, as of now.

Yes, that is right. I recent interview with Kiefer said that they are in the middle of writing it or beginning it only.

what kind of movie would it be if they're capable of throwing the idea into ONE episode of 24? i think the source is unreliable.

playing Jack Bauer for the rest of his career wouldnt be too shabby, right now i can't think of anybody else as a super agent like kiefer, he has really pulled that image off. he makes james bond look like he was born yesterday.

on another note, anybody noticed the JB initials for agents?

    Jack Bauer
    James Bond
    Jack Bristow
    Jason Bourne

    Wow thats funny.

And I bet the storyline they've used in an episode this season is Jack hi jacking a plane. That could easily span a 2hr film, complete with boarding and landing. And the chnaces are the first hour of a film would be 23 hours in normal viewing fashion and the last hour in real-time. Or a finish to a season.

Partially true. This storyline was meant for the movie, but they changed there minds.

I highly doubt there ever will be a movie.

The more you hype up "24 Movie" the more people will watch the show. The writers of 24 know it's practically impossible to keep the nature of 24 in two hours, and that as long as they keep the rumor mill spinning, no one knows the better.

According to Keifer, the movie will take place over a 24 hour period, but the movie itself will only be about 2 hours. So bascially, it'll just be an action movie starring Jack Bauer. And there ain't nothing wrong with that.

I dare say a good part of the box office for the Sentinel is because of Keifer being in the movie and the way they marketed him and his role in the movie. So a movie could be successful given his growing potential as a box office draw.

I just saw the movie ads for the Sentinal, and there are striking similarities between 24.

Traitors in government, evil consipiricies, set-ups ETC....

For those who have seen it, is it really similar, or am I diluted?
