I just realized, we never know exactly who runs CTU! I mean we have the hierarchy of the Directors of the various offices, the District Director, then Regional Director, then what? Is there one CTU Director at all?

i dont know if CTU has one actual director, because i think it is supposed to be a division of the CIA. So perhaps Chappelle reported to the head of the CIA?

    Season One: Jack Bauer/George Mason

    Season Two: George Mason/Tony Almieda

    Season Three: Tony Almieda/Jack Bauer

    Season Four: Erin Driscoll/Bill Buchanan

    Season Five: Bill Buchanan/Karen Hayes

There seems to be a recurring theme. Nobody who starts the day as director of ctu ends the day as director.

i think he was referring to the head of all CTU, not just CTU:LA.

According to the novels: CTU is an internal branch of the CIA. But that doesn't answer the question: who's the head? There would be the head of the CIA and the head of CTU in Washington DC who would report to CIA Director. Then there would be regional directors reporting to Washington.Wasn't that Chappelle at one point? But who is it currently? Does it matter?

It's the Punisher, he worked for ctu..lol

Basically I think it's just division, Brad Hammond, over sees all the ctu's in each state and then the CIA head office over sees everything.

Rewatching the end of Season Two, Chappelle said to Tony: " Director Vaughn is pleased" or something like that. Maybe Vaughn is the head? Maybe I answered my own question?

historybuff5, I'm not going to dispute you, nor will I verify your claim by checking myself. And unless someone does, you have answered your own question and effectively ending this forum line.

The presidents and their advisors always refer to it as CTU Los Angeles so there must be other branches and therefore someone who governs them all. Or do they all seperatly report to the CIA?

That's what 24 wrote (basically), but I think those are either regional directors or directors of CTU: LA. Historybuff's got the answer

    Quick response:

There's no CTU at the moment.... it dissapeared near the end of season 5 and became Homeland security "somthing" (don't remember the title exactly).

No, I think Homeland only absorbed CTU: LA, and that was only temporary, since Division and District couldn't spare the manpower at that time.
