  • Season 5 Episode 23: Day 5: 5:00 A.M. - 6:00 A.M.

  • The V-Series of nerve gases (of which the VX types are the most deadly) are persistent agents. This means that they leave a film behind, coating every surface that was exposed to the gas. The terrorists would not be able to remove their masks after flushing the air from the sub without exposing themselves to this residue. For proper decontamination the entire sub would have to have every exposed surface scrubbed down.

  • When the terrorists release the nerve gas on the submarine, they only wear gas masks. Nerve agents can be absorbed through the skin. While they wouldn't die by asphyxiation from the gas, it could be harmful and the very least provide some muscular discomfort.

  • There are several similar circumstances surrounding the deaths of Christopher Henderson and, in S1, Victor Drazen.
First of all, they were both shot by Jack Bauer (which isn't that astonishing a similarity), and at nighttime.
Both deaths occurred at (approximately) the twenty-minute mark of the hour.
They both had bad histories with Jack, and Jack had personal reasons to kill them.
Prior to being killed, they tried to fire at Jack, but their guns were empty. Jack killed them for personal gain when they were unarmed.
Finally, they were both killed at the Port of Los Angeles.

  • Season 5 Episode 22: Day 5: 4:00 A.M. - 5:00 A.M.

  • At the beginning of the episode Jack refers to the Attorney General as a "her", but the Attorney General is a man.

  • When Jack talks to the officer in charge of the submarine, he calls him "Lieutenant", although the rank he is wearing is that of a Lieutenant Commander, usually called "Commander".

  • Season 5 Episode 21: Day 5: 3:00 A.M. - 4:00 A.M.

  • Bauer could simply play the recording over the telephone. Then the evidence would be in the hands of CTU. They can deal with the physical evidence later.

  • At 3:16 a.m. when there are split screens accompanying the clock, one of the boxes shows Miles Papazian standing still. Once the clock disappears, and the split screens disappear, it cuts to Miles who is now looking down at the desk. Since the show is in real-time, he shouldn't instantaneously be doing something else in less than a second.

  • Season 5 Episode 20: Day 5: 2:00 A.M. - 3:00 A.M.

  • Kim Raver (Audrey) and Roger Cross (Curtis) do not appear in this episode.

  • When Jack is on the plane talking to Chloe, they zoom on the phone and the clock on it says 8:00 AM.

  • There is great irony when Logan tells Novick that "Bauer's lied to us all day and played us all for fools." This, of course, is what President Logan has been doing the whole day.

  • Season 5 Episode 19: Day 5: 1:00 A.M. - 2:00 A.M.

  • Real-Time Error: In the last scene the time comes up as 1:59. The scene was longer than a minute. In fact it was 1 minute 25 seconds in total and then, the end still had the last three seconds flash (as it always does), making the time actually 2:00:28, at the end of it.

  • When Heller is being followed by the helicopter, right after Chloe sends the satellite feed to Jack's PDA there is a scene where Heller is shown (from a high front angle) driving through an s-curve, then the camera moves to the right to show the helicopter next to him just above the mountain. When Heller is later saying "Do not let them get away with this. Make sure..." they show the exact same scene, except captured from a low front camera angle. You can tell because the curves of the street are the same, the shadows over the curves are the same, there is a telephone pole on the back hill in both scenes, and when the camera moves toward the helicopter the mountain & trees under the chopper are exactly the same.

  • Jack calls Chloe's cell phone and gets the voice mail. In the first episode of the season, Chloe said she had to throw out her cell phone when she was being chased by Haas' men.

  • Henderson claims that had Heller's windows not collapsed under the pressure, his car would maintain an air pocket that could sustain him for half an hour. Although this is a ploy, he neglects that cars are not air tight, as water can enter through ventilation.

  • When Buchanan called up Curtis to get him to the farm where Audrey and Henderson were, he and his team were 25 miles north of their location. He was able to get there in 23 minutes, which means they would have had to drive in excess of 60mph on the same windy roads Heller was on.

  • Real-time error: When Henderson came to (1:42), he told Audrey that her dad may still be alive stating only 10-12 minutes have passed, when in fact a half-hour has elapsed since he drove over the cliff (about 1:11), but said there could be 30 minutes of an air pocket. His watch also showed the hand at the bottom of the hour.

  • Season 5 Episode 18: Day 5: 12:00 A.M. - 1:00 ...

  • Roger Cross (Curtis) did not appear in this episode.

  • When Henderson's men are shooting at Jack under the plane, he drops his USP pistol and picks up the Secret Service agents Beretta M9 before running into the hanger. When Jack enters the hanger in the next shot he is carrying the USP again.

  • The end of this episode features the largest number of simultaneous split-screens shown on 24 to date with 8 different scenes being shown at the same time.

  • Logan told Novick that he wanted to keep the apprehension of Jack "under the radar" so that they do not tip off the Chinese that he is still alive. If this is true, why did he put out an APB on his arrest? That surely would tip off the Chinese.
