Realizing that her near or total lack of a social life is having an adverse effect on her work, Jack sets Liz up on a blind date with a friend of his. Jack infiltrates the writers' weekly poker game and starts winning hands down until Kenneth the Page joins in and proves to be a surprisingly adept player. I'm really enjoying the show so far, I'm glad my brother told me too watch it now. I find the storyline interesting and this show is funny. So far Jack is my favourite character, I love the littler nerds too because everyone is awesome. Jack sets Liz up thinking she isn't straight, I loved that storyline. I love the way they are playing poker - great scenes I love Jack and Keneth in this episode - awesome. Great episode.
Jack sets Liz up on a blind date with his friend, Thomas. While Liz is busy preparing for the date, Jack infiltrates the writers' weekly poker game.
This was easily one of the funnier episodes of the season. Kenneth playing poker against Jack was the highlight, I laughed out load a lot when Jack made his little evil speech against Kenneth. I think this was also the episode where Pete bet his wedding ring even though he still had money and where Tracy had two of his cards the wrong was round. Hilarious episode, none stop laughter. 9.5 out of 10.
There are three main reasons to watch 30 Rock. Sadly, Tina Fey is not one of them. Don't get me wrong, she is a huge talent, both acting and writing. I would attribute all that is funny in the scripts to her. However, the star of the show is Alec Baldwin. Take him out of the show. Not just this epidsode, but the show, and it's done. It's finished, gone...
The casting of him, the writing for him, and the acting by him is some of the best on TV. Not just today, not just this decade, but EVER. His character is as funny as it gets. Not sure if it's him, or the writing, but I DO NOT CARE. 30 Rock does rock, totally. But for the reason that I initially thought it would.
This was the best episode yet the last fifteen minutes are brilliant it was really funny LMAO I could stop laughing at the poker game really funny can't wait to see the next episode. It reminded me of arrested development but the humor is much more clever.
This episode significantly improved on the first two, and showed that other characters could steal the show besides just Tracy Morgan. Basically this episode was about Lemon, who absolutely dominates every scene of the show shes in with serious laughs mixed in with good undertone of a story. The side bit about Kenneth was great, as this was his first time to really shine, as his interactions with Jack were just hilarious as he appears out of nowhere in his first scene. All in all, it was a very pleasurable episode and one that really keeps you hooked on 30 Rock.
I liked Jack a lot in this episode because of the funny way he kept picking on Kenneth and he never misses a chance to flaunt his money. Then he goes out of his way to help Liz...sort of. He sets her up with his friend 'Thomas' and Liz finds out that his friend is actually a Gretchen Thomas and is quite shocked to find out that Jack thinks she is a lesbian. the scenes where everyone thinks she's a lesbian as a kid are hysterical! I especially loved Jack's comment on her shoes, "Those shoes are definitely bi-curious." Stephanie March was wonderful in this hilarious episode as the lesbian who ends up leaving Liz and her friendship behind. I couldn't help but crack up when she said, "Is this about submitting us for the amazing race because I was only 80% joking about that." A show that I play on my ipod again and again.
Liz seems to be very streesed out about whats going on the set. So Jack sets Liz up with his friend thomas. Liz gets all excited about her "date". Just to find out the this thomas is a girl. Jack interpts the writers poker game and sort of stars a rivaley with Kenneth
Great I think the scene was funny and spontaneius. The Bar scene was especially hot. The scene it self was a very Common, not so commonly told scene in life. We have all been there \\\"Done that\\\" at one time in our life.
The Bar scene and the people at the bar mad the scene. Tina was great, and her \\\"Blind Date\\\" WOW. It was a Very nice surprise in the episode
There should be more TV sitcom scene thaqt play out like that did. The background was great. Very well done. The Blind date thing at that point in her life makes the scene. I think it was very funny and a comfortable episode for all to relate to. The background/backdrop was perfect for the scene. I wish more TV episode would make scene in the same realm of how they did this show.
So the boss sets Lemon up on a date w/ Thomas and it turns out Thomas is a woman. Lemon actually ends up liking Thomas, but Thomas isn't into 'chasing straight girls.' I love how Lemon's character, nor her co-workers, made a big stink about the gay thing. Usually, this would be made the entire subject of any other show on TV. Thank you, 30 Rock, for not making homosexuality appear to be this strange, unusual, abnormal 'lifestyle.'
And I guess Lemon's shoes are a little bi-sexual. Ha! Classic.
Also, it was great seeing Stephanie March. After her departure from Law and Order: SVU, things haven't been the same.
Tis episode is a bit better when it comes to the writing. Going Behind the screen and focusing on the relationships between the characters is a good idea.
Tina Fey's portrail of the single New Yorker was fairly good. The twist with the lesbian was a funny one - though refrences to Opera and such were lame. There's no doubt Alec Baldwin makes the show. Without him it won't hold much. He has the ability of pulling it all around and makes a great character. Still, his charachter could be much more memorable if he would end up as even more harsh and cynical. On the whole, it is still not funny enough for a comedy - but there's hope....
After watching these guys fumble around in the dark for a couple weeks, they finally get the right proportion of face time for each character. Most importantly, they've figured out that it's Alec Balwin, not Tracey Morgan that can carry this show. Tracey is one funny cat, but I think it's best to keep him supporting this show, rather than trying to lead it. Tina Fey's character really got the Tina Fey treatment here, showing some hilarious flashbacks, and doing a great job of showing us what Lemon is all about. So, while last night was do or die time for a couple shows, Lost might have died, while 30 Rock has definitely staved off elimination from my PVR list. Don't think I saw Rachel Dratch in there, but I'd bet good money she was in that robot fighting those bears.
The third Episode of "30 rock" is the best episode yet, thank to an usual storyline in the episode in which Tina goes on a date with a another woman. also, the weekly poker party may have come off from another sitcon, but the chemistry between Tina and an another woman is fantastic! If they could klss each other, I'll give it a 10. but since they didn't, they'll settle for a 7.5. I'm am standing by my woman Tina and her show until the end. I heard that the show isn't doing well in the ratings. I don't care. I'm in love with tina, and I'm sticking with her until the end.
I don\'t know and really I don\'t care. Her removal has improved the show immensely. Finally there\'s a feel of an ensemble cast to the show.
Writers Room and Poker:
I have never enjoyed watching poker more! My favourite writer is definitely the guy in the hat and his tell was hilarious.
Jack and Writers:
I think Alec Baldwin is a comic genius. And it does help that he gets incredible lines to deliver ie 'Those shoes are at least bi-curious'. His performance reminds me of the first time I saw Robert Deniro in Analyze This. And Jack's pairing with Kenneth the Page is great.
Liz and the lesbian:
A serious issue about dealing with loneliness is dealt with funnily. I loved the use of flashback montage (just like Scrubs!) when Liz remembers being called out as a lesbian.
Overall:
The show has risen out of ashes like a phoenix. After last weeks episode I was worried for the show but if it keeps up to the quality of this episode then no more worries. Oh and I have to mention this line that an old lady says to baby Liz \'Isn\'t she an adorable little lesbian!\'.
