Episode Recap

This episode starts with Liz being ditched by her family for Christmas. To fill in the void, she gets involved with a charity – Letters to Santa. She asks her team to participate as well. Frank believes they already did their charity work – chipping in to get a Sue a bra which Sue proudly shows off. Liz then reads a sad request from a shoeless boy and they all join in.

Later, Liz gets a call from Jack. Jack is in Florida visiting his mother – he showed up three days early, showered her with gifts which she called inadequate. His mother is off on her walk and he is off to Rio – to tan in the nude. While he is backing up his car, he accidentally hits his mother. She ends up being fine, she's better than fine – she has a titanium hip which will make her more powerful. Now, she is in Jack's home.

Meanwhile, to make up her lack of family, Liz decides to buy very generously for the wish list kids. She also wants to take the gifts personally to the kids on 245th street. Tracy, Grizz and Dotcom escort her since that area isn't very safe. Up at 245th St, Grizz, Dotcom, Tracy, and Liz arrive at her wish-kid list's family. The kids are grown men who take the gifts. Tracy calls it a scam, the past tense of which is "scrumped."

At 30 Rock, to avoid his mother, Jack surprises his staff with a live Christmas Eve Special. They are forced to brainstorm and work during Christmas Eve. While they work on the show, Jack tells Pete about how his mother would bring over a man named Schwartz every Christmas. The man would bring presents and Jack would play the piano while his mother sang for him. Later, he would always catch the man caressing his mother's bony thigh.

Kenneth roots for Christmas and goes back to 245th to find little kids answer the door. Liz is very excited and tells them that she's the one that made Christmas happens, thereby exposing that there is no Santa. The men return mad saying the letters were addressed to Santa not "lonely white lady."

Back at 30 Rock, Liz makes Jack realize that his mother put out on Christmas to get the kids presents from Schwartz. He tells her that they had so many presents that they couldn't even see the tree. Liz shows him that his mother cared so much for him.

In the end, Jack happily sings while his mother plays the piano.
