I love John McEnroe, but is there any reason he has appeared on three episodes of 30 Rock and two episodes of SNL, when he has only made four other sitcom appearances in the last 20 years? I guess he must be friends with someone like Lorne Michaels or Tina Fey.
Remember, it's also art imitating life. They've used him in game/reality show situations (Gold Case, America's Kidz Got Singing), and he did briefly host a game show, I thinkon FOX. I forget the name, but I think it had to do with withstanding physical duress while answering questions. May have simply been called The Chair?

That is a good point.
Still, The Chair was pretty much a flop, and if you were to ask the question, "Who is John McEnroe?" not many people's first answer would be "game show host."
