30 ROCK Generalissimo

- In this epiosode Jack is upset that Elisa's grandmother doesnt like him. He cannot understand why she does until he finds out that he looks like the villian from the grandmother's favorite soap. Jumping on this he makes liz write up a script were the character is killed. Liz fails and grandmother hates him more. In the end Jack gets the guy to make the character nicer to get him liked better. Liz meets another guy that she likes. She starts taking his mail and finally gets him to come over only to drug him. The drugs came from Tracy who was trying to keep up with Harvard Wall street people who are jobless but yet NBC hired them. Overall it was funny but no my favorite episode.

A lot happens in this episode. There are three small subplots to the episode. First of all new pages arrive that were bankers before there bank went bust. They hook up with Tracy and he goes partying with them. The second night they go partying, it ends with Tracy taking rufies. In the end, Tracy puts the bank back in business to give the pages/bankers back their jobs.



Meanwhile Jack is trying to charm Elise's grandmother who doesn't like Jack because he looks like an evil general on a Spanish TV show that she watches. Jack corners the actor who plays the general and tells him his story. The general agrees to make Elise's grandmother like Jack by doing things she would like on the Spanish TV show. It works like a charm. Elise's grandmother now likes Jack, but tells him something needs to be done with the evening news, that it is to sad.



Meanwhile Liz is getting her neighbors mail who turns out to be a doctor. She opens his mail to find out more about him. She finds out he likes dogs and pretends that she has a dog missing. They start to hit is off and she tricks him into coming to her apartment one night. While there, he accidentally take 2 rufies mistaking them for aspirin. He eventually goes through her mail and finds that they are compatible.



A very funny episode with the 3 subplots being tied together by elements of the other. The Tracy subplot is tied to the Liz subplot with the rufies. The Liz subplot tied to the Jack subplot because, she thought she was acting like the general to get her neighbor

This was a refreshing episode for me. For once Jack and Liz we're doing their own thing. Jack's problem with a certain Spanish television character that looks identical to him led to a lot of laughs. I'm enjoying Salma Hayek's guest starring role this season. She and Alec Baldwin display great chemistry in their scenes. I can't think of a bad scene they've had together. They are certainly some of the best scenes this season. I thought it was creative the way Liz's encounters with Drew mirrored what was happening on the Spanish television show and Jack's double. Earlier episodes this season might have shown Jack just telling Liz what was happening. The writer's can be a lot prouder of the way her mistakes were alluded to through the Spanish show.

This episode is one the funniest episodes i have ever watched in my entire life. It is in dispute with Lecture Circuit of the Office and Nightmares and Daydreams of Avatar: The Last Airbender for funniest episode ever! (to me). I knew it was going to be very funny when at the beginning Jack asked himself with Elisa's grandmother didn't like him, and it showed a scene where she tells him he hates him. Then they show the generalisimo, who looks a lot like Jack. Then the funniest part is when Jack thinks the generalisimo is going to die, but he(generalisimo) dodges the bullets and drinks a potion that lets him live forever. Thank you 30 Rock for being so funny and keep it up!

This one wasn't so darn funny, but definitely one of the way better Thursday night comedies on NBC. The story was not something that actually captures the true flavor of 30 rock. It did however, cash in on the wall street mess, and the Lehman Bros. debacle. NBC recruits a few laid of investment banker frat boys from wall street. And Tracy has a hard time keeping up with their weird parties and drinking potential. The scene with the gay generalissmo was top notch with Alec Baldwin himself starring as the Mexican general. The final laugh out loud scene - Tracy Jordan buying Lehmann Brothers. OMG!

Jon Hamm's long awaited 30 Rock appearance is finally here. How did Don Draper (er, Dick Whitman) fare? Not too well. Hamm's acting flaws were visible without the Mad Men environment and he was as goofy as someone could be without creating any laughs.



There were some really funny moments here from all of the big three, but this was the very definition of a filler episode. The story with Liz reading Drew's mail was very awkward and I'm starting to get a little bit annoyed by these episodes that revolve around her desperate tactics. Go back to stuff regarding the actual show within a show TGS.



But I won't dwell on that too much as this was still a bundle of laughs tonight.
