I accidentally saw the title for the show "5 Takes: Pacific Rim - Sydney" when browsing my online tv schedule. Since Australia is my favorite travel destination, I had to watch. Five twenty-somethings get to run around Sydney on a budget of US$50 a day and figure out how to make it last, all the while showing the world what the city has to offer.
I loved the show and found out that it is the first episode of the second series, the first went to Europe with a different set of five TJs, or Travel Journalists. As each person was nicknamed something, like "Culture Junkie," "Alternative Junkie," or "Adrenaline Junkie," I was expecting cliched personalities that show these characteristics, like Spice Girls or something. But they are normal people who got lucky enough to take a trip of a lifetime. As such, I thought TJ meant Travel Junkie, but all five of them had never had the opportunity to travel like this before.
Pacific Rim means that they will travel to several cities in Australia, and then onto other countries making up the Pacific Rim, mostly the western Pacific, eventually making their way through Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and possibly more.
The only way to make this show better would be for me to be one of the TJs. I wish I had been paying more attention when the audition process went out.moreless
