At the conclusion of the program, Scott Pelley presented a followup to a November 2008 segment called The Wasteland which examined the practices of Executive Recycling (ER) with regards to the illegal disposal of electronic waste.

In December, 2012, a jury in the U.S. District Court of Colorado (Denver) found Brandon Richter and Tor Olson guilty on multiple counts of mail and wire fraud, environmental crimes related to illegal disposal, smuggling and obstruction of justice. Richter, owner and CEO and Olson, a former vice president of operations form the Englewood, Colorado, based company, each face up to decades in prison.
