At the conclusion of the program, Lara Logan talked about her segment, Benghazi, which aired on October 27. In the update, she admitted that Dylan Davies had lied in that what he told the FBI was different from what he told 60 Minutes, thus discrediting a portion of the segment. Logan admitted that she was misled and apologized.
On November 26, she and producer Max McClellan were suspended by CBS for presenting a report which was "deficient in several respects." The statement went on to say that "from the start, Lara Logan and her producing team were looking for a different angle to the story of the Benghazi attack. They believed they found it in the story of Dylan Davies purported to be the first western eyewitness account of the attack." The incident is considered to be one of the more serious lapses in the show's 45-year history.
The length of the suspensions was not disclosed.
