Those DVDs are not authorized by the Copyright holder, and so the selling of them is likely in violation of Copyright law.

$79.00 for 3 seasons (66 episodes) of a series you love doesn't sound like a bad deal -- well, to me.  Thanks for the URL.

Are you sure?  How do you know?

    In any case, . . .

    And, what's that to me?

OK, let's say you're correct.  They are unethical people and criminals.  It is the responsibility of the copyright holder, police, and the courts to bring them to task.

Looking at the ad gives the reader the impression the DVD is legit.  Is it the buyer's responsibility to insure the manufacturer has all the contracts in place?  I doubt it as many businesses would complain if everyone was asking to see their files before buying an item.  They would talk about trade secrets, company internal documents, client/lawyer privilege, etc.

Yes, "buyer beware" is true but in this case it means making sure the DVDs work and contain the specified work not inquiring into the manufacturer relationship to UPN, the production company, or anyone else.

I've noticed these type of offers elsewhere.  For instance, you can get all the Hawaii Five-O episodes (284 total) on around 20 discs, I think.  Regardless of the legalities, the quality is probably pretty bad.

I got The Lone Gunmen on VCD before I knew it was coming out on DVD and the quality was actually really good. So you never know.

I made the mistake of buying these from empirical film I think it was a year or so ago, do not buy them. They are poor quality episodes on bad DVDR discs, 50% of the discs don't play and getting your money back is a nightmare. You have been warned.

    And, what's that to me?
The companies that make faux DVD's typically do more than just pirate unavailable TV shows, and purchasing their warez (l33t spelling intentional) is supporting piracy that unquestionably damages content providers. It would be better by far to download rather than line "unethical people's" pockets.

Having said that, if a TV show is simply not available on DVD or TV, I don't feel bad downloading it. I figure that if the copyright holders haven't provided me a way to reimburse them for their content, then they clearly don't want my money.

I thank you for the heads up, since there weren't showing up up through normal retail channels I figured anything I could find would be of questionable origins.

I think I've found the real deal for 7 days on DVD. This looks like a legitimate offer. The link was on spiketv.com, they are currently airing episodes of 7 Days. But I see now that it is the same place emntioned earlier. I wonder why spike tv would provide a link?

I am pretty sure my spousal unit will let me order.

I hope it does as well, seeing as the BBC screwed up the showing of it halfway through the first season...
